Clear, useable technics. I have come to these methods myself after 50 yrs. of trying to play. I could have got past this 49 yrs. ago. However, better late than never, so I am going to apply these and learn... Thank you Dimitri.
You Sir are a GODSEND. I'm 10 years in and sound pretty tasty to Jo-Blo...but anyone who is in the know, would pull my playing apart in less than a second. Thanks for these drum epiphanies, I'm feeling the difference already...I can't thank you enough...holy....
Free strokes are fundamental to drumming. I like your stick as a limit approach. My teacher showed me free strokes as starting past vertical and ending past vertical with the stick bouncing back on it's own. Does wonders for the hands.
@@DimitriFantini The reason to go past vertical in stead of vertical is if you are completely loose the sticks will slide out of your hand down to the ground if vertical. If past vertical, meaning more than 90 degrees the sticks will naturally rest against your fingers even if your hands are loose. However this is really just to get the technique down as easy as possible as a beginner. Not important for actual playing.
Thanks for this, some solid advice here and the rhythmic checklist thing seems like a great way to develop interesting variations on familiar patterns.

Yes that’s good too! I like to aim for a perfectly vertical position as the “full height” for free strokes

yes doing the full range of motion first is key... I always tell my students "we don't actually play this way!" haha

Easy sub,keep it up
VERY good teacher !
Thank you! 🙏
Finally a paradigm change
The beginning looks like the start of Moeller.
Ditch matched grip.
All the drumming giants used the traditional grip.
Matched grip is now the standard for most drummers it's the best all-around choice in most situations
@@Martin_Bernard
Because we have no more Drumming Giants.
@@Noneya-bw5gm You don't know much about drumming then
This again? There is literally Zero benefit to traditional grip; especially on a modern drum set.
