Love it too. What would be REALLY cool is if they tied into the wrath of khan theme when the staccato comes in. It’s not only in the same key. It’d be perfection for add this into that dynamics
I may be a Star Wars fan, but I'm also a Trekkie. And the music of the Star Trek movies recently has sent chills down my spine... and that's a good thing. :3
Giacchino did a great job at marrying classic Star Trek motifs with a new flavor and soaring overture that feels "fresh, but familiar" which was in line with JJ Abrahms goal for the 2009 film
Ignored Advice Productions Ehh...no SW: VI and III were just terrible because there was no Attention to detail, just vapid nonsense. Solo was actually the best of the latest movies
@@Pwj579 No, Episodes VI and III were not terrible or vapid nonsense and had plenty of attention to detail. And you can't say stuff like that without properly explaining it and then treat it as law. Besides, he didn't even mention Episodes VI and III.

***** I meant Giacchino makes memorable, old timey, magical scores that are just breathtaking and give you a warm, fuzzy feeling just like Williams' scores do.
***** I would agree as much as i am a Zimmer fanboy as well, JW is in a league of his own. Zimmer is certainly the most notable as far as recent success is concerned i mean he lands lots of big movies. Though i guess we're talking about a different kind of success.
***** I hate to disagree with you bc you make alot of points, but thats not really fair... Starwars and Harry Potter are memorable movies and franchise in their own right without the music... Other big composers these days haven't had to chance to work with those type of franchises... But now that Giacchino is working on the new Star Wars franchise and Zimmer is working on the all the new DC movies coming out, we shall see if they can at least hold a candle to John Williams.
+Minidinno well, the original ones have more onto hopes, utopian and philosophical content...but I aint saying this aint bad either...both original and the reboots have good points :)
Utterly absolutely magnificently fantastic. How someone can first imagine and then fit all those instruments together in such harmony is beyond me. Makes you believe in great things.
Really? He did? For me is another master piece. Rogue One soundtrack is amazing. You want to ear the same soundtrack allong all films, the same main theme film along film... ? Michael makes variations of John Williams themes and never loses the "soul" and the feelings of the Star Wars saga. Bdw. Sorry about my english.
Ho Yan Law rogue one's soundtrack was fantastic! Especially the ones towards the end: Hope, Your father would be proud, AT-ACT attack. Great blend of modern take on star wars as well as good nods towards William's motifs from previous films. Hope he does more star wars movies if Williams doesn't do them in the future
That was amazing I got chills just watching it onscreen I can’t even imagine how it feels to experience this live, one of the things I loved about the new Star Trek movies is the great musical score it was so Star Trek but for the new generation, I just love it so much
I loved this! Like, I was there, but it sounds just as good here on TH-cam. You can really see the emotion of Mr. Lockhart, and how the orchestra reacts to this! It was a wonderful experience listening to this piece! I wish I could be part of an orchestra like this! Wow!
I don't know if Michael Giacchino is the next John Williams, but he is my favorite composer right now. I don't think it's good for people to compare him to John Williams, because it's too much to live up to. Giacchino is a great composer in his own right, he has his own style, if you like it, great, if not, don't listen. For people that say he doesn't have any memorable themes, they need to listen to Up again. And his new Star Trek theme gets stuck in my head all the time. One of the themes from dawn of the planet of the apes got stuck in my head too. With Jurassic World, everyone knows John Williams' theme, so you can't expect him to top that, but thought it was a pretty good score. Can't wait for the new Star Trek, and anything else he composes.
The similarity between Michael and John is that (a) Michael grew up listening John -- listen to his Star Wars work. The difference is a a more modern feeling. Also both can compose in many different styles. (Zimmer is the king of multiple-style, though). Anecdote from somewhere on the web (I think an MG interview) : He was working at Dreamworks doing to the music for a Jurassic Park game, and was ready to use their state-of-the-art synthesisers, when Steven Spielberg stuck his head around the door and said : "That's great! When are we doing the live symphony recording?" Their themes are almost interchangeable, but each composer has his strengths. (My piano teacher kicked me out in Grade2 because I kept on playing John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith themes during the practice session, starting with 'JAWS' which I learned to play by ear... - that was a joke, by, the way, for the irony-free).
WOW! Can't say much else! But this, Thank You conductor and players for an incredible experience.really this IS beautiful work from all! This Genuine Piece of Art IS in My favorite Box!

Into Darkness doesn't get me at all. On the other hand, the 2009 movie makes me cry on the Kelvin scene every time. Just that perfect ballet of a ship and crew fighting to the last. Funny, the other movie to have Khan in it also had very mixed reviews. And for not entirely different reasons too.

From 3:29 that's when it gets to me, it's like the engines spooling up to go into warp drive, and then the orchestra let the leggato rhythm take over, like the enterprise is in full flight
WOW, JUST WOW, and the conductor's vulcan hand sign to the orchestra at the end so brilliant.
I love the new main theme. Beauty of a piece, totally shows the feeling of Star Trek.Michael Giacchino really understands star trek
Yeah, if only cbs understood it as well as him, discovery wouldve been great

So we would have multiple anthems? You do know this is composed of 4 separate songs, right? They make it flow so probably didn't notice
Michael Giacchino is truly the next John Williams with his memorable scores.
***** Surely you have to have Jerry Goldsmith in there as well?
