    This is great! I have been learning all I can get ahold of and have a pretty solid understanding of the clutch packs, bands, accumulators, servos, and the sun/planet/ring gear systems. I have “rebuilt” several transmissions of different makes and models but I have not spent enough time in study when it comes to how and when those systems come on or apply. That can make it difficult to have confidence in the rebuild. Unless something like a hard part is just broken you are left wondering if there might be something that was missed in the valve body. I love how you have attempted to explain each circuit and why it’s there.

    Awesome video very very informative. Thx u sir. I am chasing a 1st gear flare at 3000 to 3300rpm only. Feels like putting car in neutral for Half a second. Any idea which solenoid or valve would cause this ? Much appreciated sir

    • @ThompsonAutoTest
      @ThompsonAutoTest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally the parts that wear out are the clutches, piston seals, sealing rings and shaft bushings. The solenoid can cause the problem but once the clutch starts slipping it will quickly wear out.

      @@ThompsonAutoTestflare only happens on medium to hard throttle on first gear only. Had this for 2 years now. Winter time seems to go away but summer it returns. Valve body is worth changing?

    Hey if the transmission cooler bypass valve drops out can what would happen when it's working

    Hmm I'm confused about the verbiage of the TCM models. Many vendors are using the terms "Type 1, Type 2 Early, Type 2 Late, and Type 3" or This TCM has a raised pyramid shape Bosch, 3 check balls, and removes the previously unused casting of the forward brake solenoid. Would this indicate "type 2 late" which is referred to as type 3 in this video?

      1st design:
      Two N-to-R accumulators
      NOT a TCM
      Empty valve bore
      2nd design
      TCM
      Two N-to-R accumulators
      Reverse brake clutch pressure-control valve where the empty bore was on v1
      3rd design
      One large N-to-R accumulator
      Reverse brake clutch pressure control valve where the empty bore was

    Hi, Thanks for showing this. Im in the process of replacing a solenoid a second time. I have a type 1 valve body with the tcm behind the glove compartment. Its been giving me a code p1772 for the low coast solenoid valve circuit. I replaced the solenoid, switched out the tcm and checked the harness but the code keeps coming back. I believe it's triggered when in reverse at about 6mph. I saw you mentioned in the video that the valve is almost never used. Any thoughts on what it could be?

    Another quick question...on the forward engagement accummulator (29) on the valve body top, when I dissasembled mine, it had the retaining clip, the plug, the valve and the spring in that order. The technical service information Im following has the clip, the plug, the spring, and the valve last. Although you don't mention it in the video, I see you have yours laid out according to the service guide. Were mine installed in the wrong order, or is the service guide wrong? The service guide shows the pilot a and b valves to have a plug on the end of the spring (17) and (18), but I didnt have them, and it looks like your valve body doesn't have them either, which leads me to not trust it entirely.....should I just install the valves exactly how they came out instead of following the guide?

    So I bought a refurbished one and I should be able to just swap bolt to get all of my codes fixed right?

    • @ThompsonAutoTest
      @ThompsonAutoTest  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Be careful the TCM must be "Flashed" (Programed) to match the specific vehicle. The company your purchased your refurbished valve body can give you recommendations. Often when a transmissions fails it damages clutches and seals degrade, to repair it requires an overhaul with a full Banner Kit. The valve body and the TCM do not have a clearly defined wear mechanism.

    I have a titan which I had a reman valve body I installed it worked for about a year then one day I was passing another vehicle then I got the dreaded front brake solenoid code that I was getting before. If the truck sits for a while it seems to shift fine until it warms up. Sometimes if I turn the truck off and on again it will work briefly but then clunk, stuck in 4th. Do you think it's the TCM or something in the valve body?

    So I just cleaned up the valve body for an 06 pathfinder. I noticed the 3rd solenoid from the right appeared to be damaged but proceeded to put the car back together anyways. The car will not go into overdrive, it completely slips out. Could this be the cause of that?
