WARNING! Slightly graphic video at 1:58 of a Roadrunner sparring with a lizard. May want to skip if you're a sensitive soul! I like to believe the lizard got away!
Perhaps it did! Later we see a Roadrunner with what looks like the end of a lizard tail, maybe that lizard detached the tip of it’s tail and got away 🤞
I need therapy now.
Anyone that's "upset" won't survive Life.
Grow a set . . . ☆
No need to be sensitive, here. The real savage world can be observed daily in the newscast.
We saw them frequently when my wife and I used to take golf trips to southern Arizona. Thanks for noting that, contrary to the cartoons, a Road Runner has no chance of outrunning a Coyote.
‘BEEP BEEP’ Good afternoon to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. I also used to watch the cartoon as the Roadrunner outsmart Wiley Cayote. 😁😆😁😄
We have them here on our property in N E Texas. They’re hysterical to watch when they race against our side by side. We also have bobcats, hawks, raccoons and coyotes.I love their little mohawks.
Great video. I live in eastern New Mexico and once watched a group of about 6 roadrunners (im assuming it was a family group) cooperatively hunting . They were evenly spaced in a line about 3' between each bird walking along systematically flushing out lizards or large insects and nabbing them. I believe they were teaching their young ones to hunt. Very interesting behavior. Such cool birds.
@@chasingbirds3073 awesome!
I had a pair of juvenile roadrunners hanging out in the mesquite trees in the back yard a couple of years ago - they would torment the dog any time he approached the tree. They also have a fairly raucous scratchy call when alarmed.
I wasn't fond of the poor lizard getting bashed around, but I also recognize it's just how it is. Roadrunners gotta eat. I really enjoyed getting such a good look at this funny, iconic, spectacular bird! Didn't realize they have that colorful streak near the eye. Thanks for the informative video.
Must be a female, scheesch . . . ☆
I love the way they bob their tails. So funny to me they’re in the cuckoo family. Evolution is awesome!
There are two Roadrunners that live in bushes & shrubs close to my property here in Texas. I do watch for them because they are always close to the narrow road by my house and you are right, these birds are fast. 😊
One of my favorite birds. Don’t see them often enough even though they are here in Northern AZ.
They’re very cool!
Video brought to you by ACME.Thank you WILE E.😊
ACME puts rockets on EVERYTHING!
ACME also invented the tiny Tim rocket.A rocket so powerful it could take out 25 road runners, or 26 wile Es.
A very interesting bird, I like how it looks, much better than the cartoon. Good video with plenty of information about that species
My wife and I used to volunteer at a wildlife rehabber in Oklahoma who had a roadrunner she’d raised. Absolutely the most hilarious critter I’ve ever been around. He would jump on your shoulder then up on your head. You could walk around with him on your head. Yep…his name was “Roadie”. 😜
Is that your photo around 3:00 by any chance?
I live, and mostly bird in Florida so I've never seen one. They're high on my bucket list though. Amazing birds.
Shout out to Jordan of Bright Eyed Birding. They're his favorite bird.
I used to have one come into my backyard and knock on my sliding glass window. I think he thought his reflection was another road runner 😅 Very friendly too. Whenever I was in the backyard she'd just hang out with me. I caught her once on our roof, we have a two story 😮 they sure get around !
For several years, there was a roadrunner that used the garden center at the nearby Lowe's for nesting. Shortly before the babies were ready to leave the nest a nature rehab organization would come get them so that they wouldn't get to comfortable around people.
An Audubon Christmas Count, circa 1989, I had gone near the racetrack of Laguna Seca, Monterey County. A roadrunner crossed the road in front of me & stopped. I pulled over & grabbed the binoculars. It made threat postures for 10 minutes! Maybe I parked near a nest. Unforgettable.
I see them here in Hutchinson, Kansas but their plumage looks different. Found in the parking lots of the Walmart and the big Dillons supermarket. They scavenge around and are amusing to watch. Seeing one jump over a foot off the ground to perfectly pluck a bug out of a car's front grill is a real treat. They do that over and over.
I was so excited when I got my lifer in south Texas! Love roadrunners!
Meep meep!
One of my favorite birds! I did not realize their range was expanding. Thanks for the Nature Is Metal with the lizard haha
We have them here in Roseville outskirts
Very nice!
Outstanding presentation and portrait of this iconic bird.
@@jago76 thank you!
The BEST bird in existence right here 🤩
What a fun video! Thanks for all the interesting info! While I camped near Tucson, AZ, a curious Roadrunner came right up to the door of my RV a few times cocking his head and dipping tail. He seemed unafraid of me. One of those unforgettable meetings ;-)
@@jtwanderer6328 haha very cool!
The greater roadrunner is my favorite desert bird.
Roadrunners eluded me when I visited Arizona with my dad in 2015. My dad saw the tail end of one but I never got a look at him. And then after we left a gal that we had met in Arizona and become friends with had one that came to her feeder and she got a picture and showed it to me. It was like the roadrunner telling me in your face. So I know that looking for life birds can be tough sometimes and I'm hoping that you guys see your Montezuma Quails. Should I get back to Arizona birding one species that I really want to see is the Buff Collared Nightjar. I think the time to go looking for them though is in the spring.
Really enjoyed this fascinating video. Had never seen one of these birds. Thank you very much for sharing. 🪺
I love these funky little murderbirds. I see them all the time in Albuquerque.
I have always liked them but far more so in the past several years after spending some time outdoors and walking a piece.
So coyotes really don't need rocket=powered roller skates to catch a roadrunner.
It helps though lol
Great video. I have seen several of them here in Arkansas. I like them!
Great video boys!!! Love seeing these birds in my Texas birding adventures. Let me know if you ever want to go birding in the greater Austin area!
Meep meep! I was fortunate enough to get to see Roadrunners in Henderson Nevada years ago. Really cool birds to get to see since I live in the Midwest. Seeing that poor lizard getting killed by the Roadrunner wasn’t fun, nature can be cruel 😔
Roadrunner facts, Who knew ? 😂 Thanks for the great video! 💕
A couple weeks ago in Albuquerque me and my friend saw one jump on a fence then tree was there for about 5 minutes surprised us both
Very cool!
@@BadgerlandBirding Was an experience
thank you
You’re welcome!
I'm going to be in north Texas in December, and I'm really hoping to see one (or more)!
I’d like to ask whether the Roadrunner bird can also possibly be the victim of any species of Brood-Patasitic Birds including the Cuckoo birds ?
Also known as the Amigo bird, or Friend. Good to have around and search out rat nests. 🙂
It’s so cool how god made a bird modeled after the hit cartoon character Road Runner from Looney Tunes!
Lmao mother nature go crazy
@@jckiiRL Roadrunners when roads were invented 😮
Greetings! Question about roadrunners! So, I live in El Paso, TX and roadrunners are around here, especially on the outskirts of town. I have seen two different types of roadrunners, most commonly a smaller, thin roadrunner that is mostly gray. But I have also seen ones that are probably twice the size of the gray ones, and look like the one at 6:03. Much more beautiful than the previously mentioned ones I've seen. Are these two different types? Or male vs female? This is a question that I've had stored up in the old attic for a long time! Thanks for helping me dig it out😊
@@aknightthatsaysnee5259 males are slightly larger than females but coloration would be similar between sexes. Could be adults and juveniles!
@BadgerlandBirding Could there also be a ratio difference? Like one male for every ten females, or something like that? Because that is roughly about the way I encounter them (by the descriptions I used previously). Thanks!
they are a blessing to have around
My finest experience with the Greater Roadrunner was a gathering of French tourists up close to one at Lake Powell, Arizona. They were wondering what is was. I said to them "beep beep" and they figured things out.
Forgot 2 mention size difference between male and female, female being twice the size bigger than male.
BEEP BEEP!!! ZOOM !!!!!!!
🎉🐦
I saw 2 of them today but my camera starting acting funny and I missed the shot. So I can't put it on my lifer list.
What a wonderful video. Thank you so much. 🪶
Thanks for watching!
