I've just returned home (USA) from a small break in London. I'm so sad that I found the Horse Guards was closed for manutention. I've been there few months ago and it's my favorite place since I like horses. Almost all my close relatives wear or wore an uniform (I'm one of the few exceptions because I'm a T-Paramedic) and I will never understand people thinking they're at an amusement park. Those guys are active soldiers and on duty while stationing at their posts, they're not a landmark or tourist attraction. I usually just stand far admiring their uniform and discipline. Last time I saw them, I removed my cap, gave a small head nod and thanked them. To my surprise, the AFOs there approached me and thanked me for being polite❤.
Well we’ve seen the poor horses slip and even fall a few times so it really better if the cobbles are reminded for the safety of the horses and the troopers.

300% chance they're keeping those. But hopefully they come up with something for the horses to actually stand on. Tradition is fine and all but hurt horses is not ok.

So where is the bit about an armed officer helpong a guardsman? I really wish you guys would include a time stamp. 6:07 I guess this is the big moment.
It wasn’t even a big moment. Lots of these TH-camrs won’t add a time stamp (there’s one who does and I appreciate them) so they can get people to watch all the way through. I fast forward until I see the part that matches the thumbnail
I do hope they don't put the cobbles back in the boxes they are so slippery whether the horse has peed and pooped, cobbles and horseshoes don't go together that is why the horses slip and fall frequently! Why are the gatesman and chitsman in dark trousers they are usually in their white breeches?
Need to get these filmers to stop the lies......keep showing its still open with house or what ever...all lies...not showing respect to all the flmbers.
Gatesmen and Chitsmen look absolutely stunning in their uniforms
Excuse my ignorance, but I've never heard of a Chitsmen. Could someone enlighten me please!? 😊

Hello from Upper-Austria! Very nice the Lady who says "thank you" to the Guard! Thats not very often!
Indeed! Very kind gesture from the lady.
Sending ❤to the guard.
So nice to see visitors saying thank you for allowing them to have a photo with the guards
It's total chaos with the traffic. What a pleasant change that a couple of tourists actually said "thank you". Cheers Rosemary Western Australia 73yrs
Oh!!! The guards look so spectacular in their uniforms.
Amazing 👏
Quite a rare sighting! They look incredible in their Dismount Summer Order
@@TheKingsGuardsChannel Thank you for the explanation of the uniform change.
Ah. Now that does make sense. Dark trousers until the work is completed. Practical dear old Cavalry!!

They look so different without their white pants.
I don't like the white pants. Not a good fit always look untidy

@@gonzaloreyes8782boats ? Do you mean boots ?
That's unfortunate. Never have seen an accident in Whitehall. The sight of the Police Officers in the middle of the traffic---- scary.😮😮😮.
The workman was dressing the stones ready to re fit them. They are stacked up at the back of the horse box.
I hope they put the stones back and keep the charm.
Grade 1 Listed Building so they have to maintain the authenticity of the area .
Tho it isn't practical, but rubber padding for the horses would be nice. ❤❤

I know it’s tradition for them to wear white pants but I like these

IT IS TRADITION FOR THE TROOPERS TO WEAR WHITE TROUSERS. PANTS ARE UNDERWEAR WORN UNDER TROUSERS. FYI. 🇬🇧🏴

I said that a few months ago and people moaned at me. The sandstone facade will decay if it is not kept clean.
It’s a grade 1 listed building. All stone work has to conserved, where that isn’t possible then “identical” replacements must be sourced.

Hello from Long Island New York. Great Job Filming 👍👍👍👍👍
This guard had normal shoes on instead of riding boots. He must be happy about that.
Could be chelsea boots as they are shorter boots.

The stones make the horses slip when they pee. And when icy in winter.Put the stones somewhere else.
Very, very, very rarely is there ice in London in winter. Particularly in Whitehall, where there is constant traffic.
As Horse Guards is a Grade 1 Listed Building everything must be restored as it was originally !
@@kathellison8084 Precisely! 🙂
They will likely keep them. But surely there are custom mats they could use that match the look.
Hopefully they are getting rid of those slippy cobbles
