cool dog! he's not upset at being wet though - beagles are scent hounds - you washed his mud off - his rolling behaviour is natural instinct to cover his scent with dirt before pursuit. It's a legacy behaviour, you'll see wolves doing the same.

Same here. Once, we had some dead carp to get rid of, so we buried them in my mother's garden. "Fertilizer", we thought... Our Basset smelled them and thought "cologne". He dug them up and rolled in them. God... Imagine the smell of week old dead fish. I still get queasy when I think about what it was like when I gave him his bath.
Katie, our old beagle mix, once rolled in raccoon poop when she stayed at my mom’s friend’s house. She had to give her a bath right after arriving. That had to be comical.

When you wash them with soap and purified fresh water on the other hand, they hate it bc now they're all clean and you can smell them a mile away 😅 So funny tbh

He has gotten water into the inner canal of his ears. That is why he keeps rubbing his head against the ground. Talk to your Vet about it. Been there with our GSP.
@@gaben.9454 After a wash or shower where they can get water in their ears then its the case pretty much every time with a few exeptions. All dogs I ever meet or trained have done this if they get water in their ears or if their ears need a clean. Hence why if you said he had a bath most likely has gotten water in there.
We never had a dog that acted up about being wet until our youngest came along. From the first bath she had you would have thought we bathed her in lye she carried on so much about being wet - pretty much doing what Oliver does, rubbing on carpet, or on the bed spread or the couch... We actually brought it up with the vet because we thought maybe we were doing something wrong and it was actually irritating her and she was hurting. The vet said he didn't have a good answer about why some dogs act like this or how to make it better unless we could figure out something that would be distracting to keep her from carrying on so. Distraction failed miserably until my daughter had the die that she looked like she was trying to wrap up in the rung. We started giving her large towels and blankets and rolling her up in them as she would try rubbing the water off. She actually got the hang of it and now has a favorite after bath chenille throw we spread across the floor for her outside the bathroom and she throws herself down on it and grabs one corner in her mouth and starts rolling herself up in it to get dry. If you do this it requires monitoring cause they can get really 'burrito-ed' into the blanket and you don't want them to get tangled but it really seems to help by letting them roll up in something that dried them off in this way.
We started to do the same with our corgi because he would rub alllll over the carpet downstairs and shed everywhere. So now we lay towels on the bathroom floor and he'll dry himself lol
Aww it's okay Oliver.. Try giving him a bone right after a bath it might keep him still long enough to dry him. I'd that with my beagle he liked the bath cuz he know he got a special tears for being good.

He has gotten water into the inner canal of his ears. That is why he keeps rubbing his head against the ground. Talk to your Vet about it. Been there with our GSP.

@@gaben.9454 After a wash or shower where they can get water in their ears then its the case pretty much every time with a few exeptions. All dogs I ever meet or trained have done this if they get water in their ears or if their ears need a clean.
Hence why if you said he had a bath most likely has gotten water in there.

Hey, Oliver; I feel your pain. I hate baths too! My Mom still has her Christmas 🎄 up too. 🤣
We never had a dog that acted up about being wet until our youngest came along. From the first bath she had you would have thought we bathed her in lye she carried on so much about being wet - pretty much doing what Oliver does, rubbing on carpet, or on the bed spread or the couch... We actually brought it up with the vet because we thought maybe we were doing something wrong and it was actually irritating her and she was hurting. The vet said he didn't have a good answer about why some dogs act like this or how to make it better unless we could figure out something that would be distracting to keep her from carrying on so. Distraction failed miserably until my daughter had the die that she looked like she was trying to wrap up in the rung. We started giving her large towels and blankets and rolling her up in them as she would try rubbing the water off. She actually got the hang of it and now has a favorite after bath chenille throw we spread across the floor for her outside the bathroom and she throws herself down on it and grabs one corner in her mouth and starts rolling herself up in it to get dry. If you do this it requires monitoring cause they can get really 'burrito-ed' into the blanket and you don't want them to get tangled but it really seems to help by letting them roll up in something that dried them off in this way.

We started to do the same with our corgi because he would rub alllll over the carpet downstairs and shed everywhere. So now we lay towels on the bathroom floor and he'll dry himself lol

Aww it's okay Oliver.. Try giving him a bone right after a bath it might keep him still long enough to dry him. I'd that with my beagle he liked the bath cuz he know he got a special tears for being good.
