I woke up thinking “it’s Wonky Wednesday”! I know you’ve had a difficult year, but I hope you know how very appreciated you are. God gifted you creatively and it’s so wonderful that you pass the knowledge to us! You are a very special woman. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos-I always look forward to them.🙂
I just had to chuckle , after watching your previous film with you choosing the same word...here you are with more holes! Love watching and listening to you. Thank you for being you ❤
I love this cut work. The colours make it look very ethnic. It was a revelation how you do the eyelet stitches in two parts. The results are much neater. Gosh, I have been stitching 65 years, and I am so pleased to learn this technique.
Hello! I missed this video because I had a crazy week medical appointment wise, so I am diving in and loving this Wonky Cutwork! Thank you so much for my mindfulness stitching - otherwise I think I'd be mindless lol x's lj p.s. my dear friend was a free motion sewer and was one of the ladies who started the MEOW (Machine Embroiderists in Oregon and Washington). She taught amazing classes. It's a small world.
Glad you like the wonky cutwork and hoping you have a more peaceful week LJ , lots of love ❤️

This is so funny that you are doing this today. I just watched Marion (from Marion's World) doing a video on this very same thing. Love it! I wish I could do the beautiful flower stitching she did. This one I can do so thanks Kathryn
Well, we know who the boss is in your house. Whether we know it or not, cats always know that they run the show. Thank you for this lovely moment. I hope your day is filled with magic and beauty!
This technique is amazing!! I have so many ideas running through my head now. I woke up this morning feeling 'flat' as well. Thank you for bringing me out of the flatness!!! I love it when Fred Fred photo-bombs your videos!! He is so sweet. Love and hugs. ❤❤❤
Sorry I have not commented on the last couple of videos. Had a bad bout of pharyngitis, have been in bed with fever, chills, cough, and body aches. Had tests for flu, strep and covid all negative thank goodness. Today I’m better so caught up on the “holey” videos. They provided much needed entertainment as well as learning something new.. hello Fred Fred…so nice of you to visit us.
I’m so glad that your video schedule is helping you to feel good - it certainly helps me - a form of stability in uncertain times Thank you and take care x Love those colours
Gosh you have got my juices going with this one..already my brain is in whirly gig mode but once I decide on my fabrics I will settle down and blissfully be in stitch heaven. I know I will find this very mindful and mediative. Thanks Kathryn xx
Looks interesting- I’m at a rather uneasy time right now- you know when life dictates what you do rather than you choosing. I don’t like it but fighting it does no good. I will come back to this at a more gentler time. Thanks for sharing, it’s 4 am on Wednesday morning - all is quiet here with a loyal cat beside me and visiting you reminds me all will be ok. Patience and faith in the process.
I do love cutwork, but I have only done little bits in the past. I think I may make a meditation scroll with only cutwork, as it looks and feels so nice. Thanks for the prompt. Feeling flat is not nice, so I am glad you managed to get out to do something nice x
This piece and the one from your older journal are both stunning, Kathryn. I've been feeling flat, too, and realized I haven't been out in nature for a few days. Thanks for the reminder 😊❤
It did look good in the end Kathryn 😊 I think the colours actually looked really good although chosen for us to see primarily. I am so glad your visit to the exhibition lifted your spirits - it's a tricky time of year with the days so short. Looking forward to seeing it and whatever Fredfred has been up to!!! 😂😂😂 big love as always from Scotland ❤
Thank you, Kathryn, for indulging my request and making us wonky holes. As I said, the ones in your pelmet piece reminded me of the inside of large seed pods so that is the effect I shall be trying for. Watching today I could see other possibilities. Looking forward to Friday's Park Home Life. Always best wishes, Jenny (NZ) ❣ 🦋
CATS RULES! ! sorry Stella. 💚 I love the word FLAT...instead of sick or yucky. At 71 yo-young I'm not sick but FLAT..... so I'm sewing or jewelry making. or slow stitching or reading or listening to music or designing, playing with AnnieFannie my cat, or, watching K3N or, or, watching You Tube, or, or, etc..........Catch you later....💙💚💙💛💚
Beautiful. Love the color combo. I have never tried cutwork, but ….as always….you have demonstrated in a way that makes me think that I could do it 😀. Thank you !!!!
I loved this Kathryn. I m not managing to comment and catch up very well at the moment but continuing to appreciate all you do so much. Thankyou so much xxx
Caught you early in the morning here! I had just finished doing a hole on Monday's piece, and here you are with a piece of wonky holes. As always, I enjoy your videos, looking forward to each one. 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Yes..glad you gave that super tip of not cutting all the bits out at one shot..making the cloth unstable to work with... Am working on a small baby quilt and this gives me a few ideas to work with..lovely! I look forward to each week and wonder what we are going to learn next. ...you teach and inspire..with all the inbetween steps and tips..what a wealth of experience...and cloth tales.😊 So thanks Kathryn.
Hi k3n again - thank you so much for yr fast reply - I want to make one - I noticed in one of your park home life videos that you had some Prosperity Hens hanging up - so weird cos I have just finished making 3 sets of them for my family - love the meaning behind them - again thanks so much ❤ Rhonda
Beautiful Fredfred knows exactly what he is doing. Thankfully, you are a loving and patient Mom. I enjoy seeing his proud passing by. I somehow feel that cutwork is an elevated type of embroidery and your tip of stabilizing the design for working later is great. I see myself being able to then stitch while watching tv without annoying 'someone else' with reaching and snipping, etc. I may be accidentally finding holes to embellish everywhere now. It is both patching the dyke, and letting the light shine through.
Hi ! This is Amy K. From San Antonio,Texas. Love all you do.Am watching at 4am Wed. Have an idea for your kitchen window. Is there a way to put a shelve across to match the other side. Just a thought. One more thing.....try sewing with 3 cats helping! So much fun!One is black the other is orange! But ya gotta love them! Have a great week!
I'm so glad you showed us this one!! SOOooOOo cool!!! Would a piece like this work in next year's Wednesday project, as long as it was backed somehow after you do all the cutwork??
I was taught to run a line of backstitch arou d the shape, cut it out, abd then do the eyelet stitch. It's a bit more stable when you begin overcasting the edge.
I don't have much, mostly in little bundles on my cheese box shelves I shared a few episodes ago in Park Home Life, one plastic tub of larger pieces and one drawer of old linens, sheets and table cloths for ecoprinting and dyeing. That's all. ❤️
Hi k3n - love anything Indian embroidery- which leads me to ask what is the name of the Indian pelmet? That goes on the wall above a doorway - I think you have one above your door in yr new home Many thanks Rhonda

Very well written, I totally agree, Kathryn is a very special woman.

Apparently I can't keep away from them 😂❤️
Wonderful
Very cool. I’ll give it a try for sure
I enjoyed this video. And the antics of Fred-Fred....❤😊

Marion did beautiful proper cutwork, mine is a very slap dash and wonky version 😂❤️

Flat is a great work instead of not well or sick. 'cause i'm not sick...just FLAT.
Sorry you were flat, happy to help inflate you a little bit 🥰

Dear GOD thank you for clean hands and nails.
Not sure what you mean by that 🤔
Oh she's in a hole again! I like that effect, it's similar to how I learned to make a buttonhole when I was young.
It's lovely to see connections between all these techniques isn't it. ❤️
I LOVE the CONTRASTING Thread and BACKGROUNDS…..Delicious…

I haven't heard them called that, I will look it up. Mine are from India, I call it a Bird Rope 😁♥️

So enjoyable ❤ hi Fredfred 🌹

Absolutely it would 😁♥️
Mercii encore pour ce magnifique vidéo ❤

Thanks for this. So much potential for play. I would enjoy seeing what you would do with tumblers if you feel inclined.

Would love to see your fabric supplies..in boxes? Or bags?

Rhonda
Hello Rhonda, the pelmets are called torans. ❤️
Love this, have to have a go today. Does this work with any fabrics? Was thinking of denim and something else
Denim would be good as long as it isn't too thick to comfortably stitch, only one layer would be enough I would think ❤️
Thankyou, will try it 😊@k3n.clothtales
Easier than it looks????? Really K3n? Started 3 before I even came close!!!!
