  • It's back to school time, and I decided to start a new tradition to honor my family's German heritage: Schultüten, or "School Cones." These handmade (or store-bought) cardboard cones are given to school children on their first day of school, filled with treats to make the start of school a little sweeter. I enjoyed reading about the history of them and how they've changed over the years (article linked below). I thought I'd try my hand at making some with fabric, and love how they turned out! These were so much fun to make (and fill)!
    Materials Needed:
Fabric (I used half a yard)
    Posterboard (I used a 24" x 36" size)
    Scissors
    Pencil
Sturdy string such as crochet thread
    Spray adhesive
    Wonder Clips or clothes pins
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Chop stick or something to press materials into hot glue
Finishing decorations of your choice (tulle, ribbon, trim, etc.)
