- This KTM middleweight is a weapon at the track, even stock! What it lacks in horsepower it makes up with handling and braking. Looking forward to learning to ride it quicker in future track days.

I have not done a track day yet, but I enjoyed watching your amazing skills. My 790 is still in the shop, (almost a month now) for an immobilizer failure 😣. I miss my scalpel.
Sorry to hear. 🙁 My trip to the dealership was not as bad as I expected, something about a kinked evap line. No more check engine lights since then. Hope you get yours back soon!

I rode my 790 on track and it was crazy good. Cant wait to upgrade it to 890r which i tried and loved it eaven more.

Super nice bike and superior power/weight ratio. What I dont like about the KTM twins is the jerkyness and low rpms/part throttle.
Yes that is a very KTM style, raw, harsh, aggressive character. My superduke was like that as well.

Both great bikes. I'd like to get me something smaller to do parking lot drills. A 390 would be perfect. I have a set of orange engine guards (Hepco & Becker) for the 790 that I bought hoping it would fit the 890, but the suspension components are a little bigger. Let me know if you're interested, I'll give you a good deal.

edit: does the headlight come off as easy as the tail section?
Comes off even easier. 2 bolts in the sides and one in the top. After that just unplug the eletrical connector.

About a second or so. Surprisingly, I'm still quickest on the BMW, but they're very equally matched the way I ride them. I could easily push harder on the KTM, but I'm still learning it's limits while I'm very familiar with the BMW's.
what the time you did with s1000xr and the duke?
U need to try the 1290 duke. I traded the bmw s1000xr in pref the Ktm
Hi! I have the same bike but I have an issue on my position while leaning. I have a lot of difficulties to get a leaning position next to the bike due to the very long handlebar. Do you have any tips?

Great Riding! I still need to make it out to Harris Hill. I have a Street Triple 765 and also have issues with autoblip getting "stuck". Wonder what is? Trying to grab gears too fast?
Harris Hill is awesome man. Unfortunately it's members only and they only open it up to track days once or twice a year. I think that if you know someone who is a member, they can get you in one day or something like that. I think my issue with the autoblip is that the KTM is more RPM dependent, it likes being on those high RPM when downshifting. My BMW in comparison downshifts pretty much at any RPM, probably one of the best autoblips in the market, and it's 6 years old!

Nah, I've ridden other bikes, even a "track bike" that I bought and sold right away, this one is special in comparison. I have to upgrade my riding, because the limits on this one are much higher.

Are you racing in intermediate or advanced?
Brett this was an experienced intermediate/advanced group. The other group was beginner/fresh intermedia. A few slower riders in my session, but also meant a lot more riding time for each of the groups.

What tires do you use on the 890?
Hans it still had the stock front Michelin Power Cup 2 which is amazing, but the rear was worn out, so I used a 190/55 Dunlop Q3+ I had on hand.

Depends on the track. I'm faster on my super duke at COTA but at Cresson on the 1.7 and 1.3 the duke is quicker
Largely depends on the track and rider. The 890 can definitely keep up with bigger bikes except for the longer straights.

What's interesting about these comments is that I always check their channel to find videos of their track exploits, maybe I can learn a thing or two. Unfortunately, I can never find any pertinent videos. 🤷🏻♂️
