Impressive stuff, but then wouldn't expect anything else from Michael Rutter. It would have been nice to have heard what his thoughts were on the bike.
thinks so too. but as KTM was a sponsor, I don´t think he was able to give any bad feedback. But as he say anything, I don´t think he had much good to say either.
That was amazing. It take a little bit of getting use to not hitting the rev limiter when racing through the gears but the torque makes up for it if you short shift.
Proper all round nice guy. I was lucky enough to ride on track with Michael few years ago while he tested triumphs 1050RS. He makes anything move fast!
I just did a steering damper upgrade from the powerparts catalogue on my 2023 SDR Evo. The stock one is not always up to par as you clearly see in the video too
REMARKABLE how stable the KTM is at race speeds around the TT course what was the lap time that would be very interesting as its a sit up and beg bike I am sure it was faster than I could do on a race bike for sure😃😃
No windscreen and no fairings at those sustained speeds make a TT run even more insane. Love that bike, but certainly would not be my first choice for that activity.
Funny thing in my opinion is that the video tries to make some interest in focusing at the rear wheel of the bike and the riders helmet top - I think the most enjoyable and sensible view is the view straight forward so one can see and concentrate on the whole route, too... Anyhow, it was nice to see Michael riding a streetbike too. I remember when I was a young man his father was very well-known figure in the sports.
I never saw where the brake fluid was coming out. What was he doing to the top of the dash with his left hand. Lap segment change? You could tell he wasn’t pushing that hard but it was crazy fast.
Yeah, as you can see, there was a couple of yellow flags that he had to slow right down for. Without the yellow flags, we believe it would have been between 108-110mph average.
@@johnnymack63 To be honest, this bike isn't even about top speed. The brutal acceleration and craziness is what makes it stand out. At least once a week I think about selling my bike and buying another 1290.

BSB,Moto GP and WSBK missing a trick by not having a super naked class. Would be an option to keep the more popular riders in racing for a few more years and a great spectacle at the same time.
Did he adjust the MSR from 3 to 7 intentionally, or just those fingers being bounced around ay those speeds. I saw he had AWM on. Good choice in performance mode at those speeds 🤣
How I long for the days when a discussion between two people was not underscored by rock guitar riffs. Come on Fast Bikes, show the guests and the viewers some respect. My ADD can barely cope.
This bike is known as something of a wheelie-monster. Here, it seems quite planted. I wonder if that is rider skill or some anti-wheelie traction control mode?

That just looked uncomfortable and scary. The bars have a constant waggle caused probably by the lack of fairing. Makes you realise how hard the old superbike racers worked.
Uncomfortable & scary is why I love this bike so much tbh. It's a thrill at high speeds, so light it just jumps & pops over everything. Ofc bad for racing good for some enjoyment a steering dampener keeps it getting to out of hand & keeping your legs tight & tucked is key. I just hate on my bike there isn't much to grab onto with my legs. Kinda uncomfortable in a bad way, just holding onto the chassis between the seat. The QS ia good when it works but seems to fall out of spec quite often.
Look at all the brake fluid pissing out of the reservoir... I had a ktm for a brief month... terrible build quality and expensive parts, just there to get profit, switched to an mt10 never looked back.
This is not a runway, you can see how hard the suspension and steering damper are working to keep the bike on the road. Yes Michael is feathering the throttle, he values his life.
What a shame track time was wasted upon this irrelevant machine, for the sake of p.r. and likes. Could have gone any short circuit track, nurburgring etc, where it may actually be used, not a real road race circuit. Should never have happened out of respect for all the lost laps for all the riders.
@@stfuliberal so, you think privateer teams that invest tens of thousands of money and sacrifice everything, should have laps cut, when there has already been several incidents cutting valuable tracktime, for the sake of an irrelevant P.R. stunt, from a manufacturer and bike, that has zero bikes there (other than one engine in a sidecar, which again, is irrelevant to every reader or virtually all bikers, bar Moly) I know you don't even understand the TT, based on your dumb reply, but at least you had your little reply, which makes you feel all big and brave.

One of my following upgrades for sure. As soon as I get the new Akra exhaust map figured out. The download is causing all kinds of TFT failures.
