Hey Lou I think you're wrong,
I bet the greatest muscle car show is in your driveway and garage.
Thanks again for the great video.
Thank you for the kind compliment bill thompson :-) You're welcome. Lou
ONE BEAUTIFUL CAR....plum crazy with black interior and accents...WOW !
Hi Mike, Happy to receive a "WOW !" from you on this car :-) Lou
Love this car. 340 six pack is a very good engine. light weight and powerful.
Winner :-)
What a fun Christmas present! Thanks Lou!
Great car story and video as usual.
HI Jeff King, Glad you enjoy this treat :-) You're welcome, and it's my pleasure, Lou
Well then, let me be first to say, " Holy Mother Mopar "
That is gorgeous
Hi Charger Dave, Glad you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Plum crazy plum crazy plum crazy plum crazy plum crazy plum crazy plum crazy
Being a Mopar guy, I've gotta say that the 1970 Challenger T/A and AAR Cuda are definitely my favorite small block cars of that era. Also loved the 340 Duster and Demon/Dart Sport. I had a 73 340/4 speed Duster. The last real muscle cars built by Chrysler of that era in my opinion
Hi Jeremy Thompson, Glad to read this one is a favorite for you :-) Lou
Merry Christmas Lou. Another great MoPar brings back memories of the early days of my automotive parts and service profession. Those 340 six pack cars were very quick and surprised more than a few big block cars!
Grant,
More than a few big blocks.
Stoplight to stoplight , very few cars can take this car in back in the day.
@@soxfunny98 in 1970 I worked at a Chrysler Plymouth dealer. We had a AAR Cuda and a 440 six pack Cuda, same gear ratio, same size rear tires both automatics. You are right in a street race the AAR would take the 440 every time. In drive that 340 would shift at 6500 RPM the 440 shifted at 5500 so while the 440 was already in second gear the 340 would still be in first. Not only that the AAR would hook up and go while the 440 was spinning the tires. If you could get the 440 to hook up you had to baby it coming off the line loosing more time.

It was cool to watch wasnt it??
My buddy had a plumb crazy T/A and he would frustrate 396 chevelles , 400 GTO, s , Ford big blocks etc.
They would accuse him of everything from nitrous to big builds.
He would never let any of them look until one night he raced every BB that would run him. He went 7-1( lost to a Hemi Cuda in a 2 block race).
Anyhow he decided it was time to show them all.
Man i swear these guys wanted to junk their big blocks. It was hilarious
Merry Christmas grant wright :-) Glad to read this one brings back memories for you, Lou
@@loucostabile
Merry Christmas to all of you.
These models oozed muscle and yet class at same time- always loved that style. Exhaust exit was a great decision by Mopar... 💪👍
Hi George, You're right, the side exhaust was a great move, Lou
Thanks Lou! The TA Challenger and the AAR Cuda are two if my all time favorite cars! Great video of a Iconic car! Merry Christmas to you and your family!🐟
Hi Catfish Corner, Glad to read this one is a Winner for you :-) You're welcome. Merry Christmas to you and your family too, Lou
Very nice, glad to see another Muscle Car restored!
:-)
It's fantastic, Lou! This Challenger definitely has it all & it's in Plum Crazy, too! What great custodians & a meticulous restoration, too. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Glad you enjoy this Sweet Plum one :-) You're welcome, Lou
WOW! Merry Christmas Lou! That was a Great Surprise this Christmas Morning. I didn’t appreciate these cars enough when I seen them as a 8 year old. I had only seen Mustangs and Camaros by the time I seen a Cuda or Challenger they were in tough shape and didn’t really turn me on that much. But If I could turn back time, this would of been right up there on my list of Favorites!
Hi gene978, Glad to receive a "WOW!" from you :-) Happy to read this one is a Winner for you. Merry Christmas, Lou
Another beautiful Mopar. Thank you for sharing, Lou. A Merry Christmas indeed!
I also love that the owner restores these to 100% factory accurate. Just perfect.

@@loucostabile OK sounds great and Merry Christmas
This brings back a happy, but sad memory...back in the '70s, a dude two blocks west of me had a Plum Crazy/black top T/A like this one, except with hubcaps/trim rings; it was his daily. Fast forward ten years...in another part of the city, I saw the same Challenger...but it was being parted out for his son's Challenger. 😢 I was bummed.
Hi Keith Coppage, Sounds like a fun daily driver :-) So many great cars long gone :-( Lou
SWEET!!!
Hi Beast 1624, Glad you enjoy this SWEET!!! "Sugar Plum" :-) Lou
Great car 👍
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
Awesome T/A great detail On car wish we still had ours it was FK5 Dark Burnt Orange...... bought it brand spanking new out of a Dealership in Corpus Christi Texas.
Hi Raul Fuentes, Glad you think this one is "Awesome" :-) Lou
Yes indeed 😊
I like his style I jus knew there was a 4 speed
:-)
Looks like it came right off the assembly line to the car show. B.A. JUST LOOK AT IT
Agreed :-)
Was that the real miles ?
A beautiful car, a credit to the owner's
Hi James Exploring Online, Hmmm, not sure about the miles. Glad you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
plain dash, clock with tach delete. no air or eight track. neat. eight hundred equipped with that pistol grip four speed. THIS is the car that every enthusiast afterwards, runs out to get a pistol grip style shifter for their manual muscle car. the gentleman with the sixty-eight GTO, whose hurst shifter with the cue ball with shift instructions on it, "a rare commodity," when sent away for complete restoration: so popular are these pistol grips (guessing they still make 'em) i wonder how much less this weighs with that marvelous hood. magnificent post for christmas. hey buddy, where's the fender tag with all the build code numbers for this here car? 675 original miles on a new car, start with a good one..
The fender tag is at his home in a safe place. I would personally have it on the car.
@@bobsilver3983 i see what You're saying: the tag, if in fact it shows that this 675 odometer reading mobile was ALWAYS a firbreglas hooded demon, was not installed at the completion of the restoration. someone would display it with great pride, on an all numbers matching beast. just a minor oversight, i guess.. yet the attention to detail, otherwise, is unmistakable. he's got his own reasons, i would imagine. what I was observing, was how Lou has set guidelines on how he shows cars on his channel: nash metro OR 69 chevelle. it wasn't where it was expected. ..my dog ate my homework. it's safe at home
Glad you enjoy this Chrismas post :-) Merry Christmas Scott Brady, Lou
Not having the T/A fender tag on the car is quite suspicious, as it’s the only way to truly identify if it’s authentic. Regardless, it’s a beautiful car.

👍👍👍👍👍
:-)
Plum crazy. Thats all im gonna say.
Well said :-)
I believe that Challenger is the Cream of Mopar, or should be anyway. My professional opinion that is.
High praise :-)
Beautiful car, I just never liked purple,. A total of 2,399 were built. Cost was $4,056
Thank you for sharing production and cost info
I regret selling mine! Unrestored ughhhh ill never find another one. At least not cheap.
Hi Midwest Speed, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile thanks for the response lou! I watch all of your videos. U film sum of the best cars out here!
Lou, I hope you get paid double-time for working on Christmas Day.
Maybe "double the views" :-) Merry Christmas Right Lane Hog
Good looking Challenger! I've got a nice model of a T/A. You can see a video of it on my channel.
Glad this one is a good looking one for you :-)
👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻😍
Glad this one s a good one for you :-)
Chrysler underrated the 340 six pack @ 290 hp at 5000rpm but modern day exact rebuilds on a dyno will put out 350 hp at 6000 rpm. Even with the 275 hp 4bbl 340s actually made 320 hp.
Guys put headers and a couple other things on these cars and made (stock) hemi power very easy. Note that chrysler underrated the 340s purposely in order to not disturb the sales of 383 big block powered cars. Because essentially 340s made around the same power & were better on fuel. It's too bad the 340 only had a short 7 year run. 68-73
Was succeeded by the 360 which had a smaller bore and larger stroke.
360 (4.000) & (3.58)
340( 4.030) & (3.31)
The 340 had way better induction also with very good heads larger valves and better port configuration. T/a & aar had adjustable rocker arms with solid lifters. Total bad ASS
Hi Korie Creson, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
@@loucostabile hey I'm really glad you are making all these great videos with superior quality automobiles. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Merry Christmas Korie, and glad you're along for the ride.
There were not 10,000 T/As built, there were 2400 built in June through Aug 1970, 989 4 speeds. so called experts shouldn't make up facts as they go along
HI Barry Bentley, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
only 914 were 4 speeds
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Eric Kort, Lou
Sure is noisy in that place!
Yes, noisy and that's what it sounds like at "drive in day" at a car show :-)
Not having the actual tags is a little 🐟
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
The old guy said fc5 ? Nope it's fc7.
Thank you for viewing & sharing your knowledge.
Ugh. The bypass hose is supposed to be orange. I never understood why someone so "painstakingly" restores a car and misses this detail. Every. Time.
Hi JustinHEMI, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this TH-cam Channel, Lou
This are quite a few incorrect aspects to this car as well as the bypass hose. While it is a nice car, there is a lot that is not accurate to how they came off the assembly line. If the car is concours judged properly, it will take a lot of points deductions. The owner can then decide if he wants to correct the deficiencies.
