    They have hr meters I think they need to make cord meters . Sure would be fun to know the numbers that our machines have produced over the yrs . It’s the best feeling in the world when someone tells ya that ya did a great job with ya kids , that feeling never gets old it just keeps getting better the more times ya hear it . Congrats to you an ya wife .

    Sub 10 seconds! I always knew that thing was faster than most. Eastonmade makes a replaceable valve, I think it’s part number 12-22. Kind of expensive as valves go but worth it. 1/2 face cord of wood… $60, Evan learning lessons about hard work…priceless!

    One way to speed up the splits is to add an extra bit of steel on the buffer end thereby reducing the stoke length/and shorter retraction. Maybe two to three inches if it suits your cutting length. I dad that on my machine,sped things up by a whole lot. Cheers

    Schools tend to focus on teaching so that the students eventually get a good job, but I think it's better to teach a young person how to be an entrepreneur. Great video Todd. Nice to see young adults helping their parents and learning how society is supposed to work. No pronouns, no face hardware, no rainbow accessories, no wokeness. As far as college, I’m not convinced they are necessary. I encourage tech schools. I’m even to the point get asses in the workforce asap. As much as no one wants to hear it we need bodies in the workforce to produce instead of consume, or we ain’t gonna have a 1st world country to pass on to our kids.
    Enough of my ranting…Your splitter is one of the best box stores I’ve seen do to its cycle speed. IIRC, I was questioning you about this a year or 2 ago?? The higher extend speed is due in part to a regenerative circuit. As cylinder extends, oil being forced out the rod end port is redirected into the base port cylinder circuit. With this extra volume of oil the cylinder extends faster but retracts at normal speed. Regen only works efficiently on the extend cycle. I’m curious if the regen circuit is in the control valve or is there another valve on the side of the beam? If you have a manual with part numbers you should post those. This would allow folks to upgrade their box store splitters to this cycle speed. I’ve placed regen log splitter valves on small homemade splitters. They do work but they would need a lot of modifications to work in the standard box store splitter. If a guy could order valve or valves like yours to upgrade their standard box store, I think it could be pretty easy. And I’m actually surprised it’s a 2 stage pump. The surplus center valve instructions says to only used with single stage pumps. I’ve put them in 2 stage and they seem to work just fine as your does too. One thing to keep an eye on is oil temp. Regen does create more heat in the oil due to higher flow friction and oil being rerouted back and forth in cylinder before exiting back to tank. This recycled oil is also recycling the heat.

    • @toddsoutsideagain
      @toddsoutsideagain  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow seem like you have a wealth of knowledge that I am lacking. 😂 Not sure about all the details but I bought this splitter new so this is how it was built. It’s always been faster on the extend than the retract. I do believe the valve is starting to wear out because it just feels loose and different. I appreciate your info I will use it to move forward. As far as college, you’re not wrong. Trade schools are great. Evan and his sister have done so well in high school that they are both getting academic scholarships for a free ride to college. They will both come out debt free. Evan is going into mechanical engineering so I said go for it. Thanks Garny👊🏻

    I have a Speeco splitter that is pretty much the same but a little smaller. I bought it to convert it to rear wedge so that it would dump onto a conveyor. I cut the foot off and added an 18" tall single wedge to it. I made a block to go over the factory wedge to convert it to a push plate. I added a wide work table on each side and extended it 2' to the splits drop onto my conveyor. ( seeing as you have power real close you could add an old tread mill and it would drop splits onto your trailer.) It works really good now for splitting kindling and really big stuff. If you don't use your splitter as a vertical it would also gain you some speed and a lot less handling.

    That thing is unbelievably fast for a box store splitter. Not that it’s needed but I’ve always wondered if you could put some kind of dump valve on there to get the return as fast as the push? 🤔5sec cycle time! Wouldn’t that be crazy!🤣 Awesome job guys! Awesome tip for Evan! NOW GO ON AND GET!👍🏻

      Hello Joe! The county line is very similar. They are made by the same company YTL who makes most box store splitters. Slight differences like color or what motor they use depending on the box store. I’ve had great luck with this splitter! The sweatshirt I won at the Hoosier Firewood Histeria event last year. It’s my favorite sweatshirt 😂 Thanks for watching 👊🏻

      Ok we call 1/3 of a Full cord a Face Cord 1-4x8 row 16” pieces. So when you look at a full cord it’s the face of the cord. 🤷‍♂️ That’s what almost everyone here in the Midwest calls it. I appreciate ya watching and commenting 👊🏻
