What about Valen Dreth from the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? When you first start the game (and I mean LITERALLY when you first start the game, he's the first NPC to actually talk to you after you create your character), he taunts you, making fun of your race and saying that you're going to die there in the prison cell. However, if you later join the Dark Brotherhood, one of the contracts you get is to break into the Imperial Prison and kill him.
Sweet, sweet revenge.

A note on the laughing at dead dragons: I feel like the dwarves laughed at Smaug's downfall, and then were immediately humbled by an army of elves. So even laughing at dead ones is probably not the best idea.

No nipple policy? Yea, that's what I thought too. Look up "breast surgery" and be amazed at what you can find on TH-cam. It's just the "sexual" content that needs to be censored, even if it's just pixels and not actual women. Then again, if you look at music videos and the like you can see completely naked women without a problem, even with ads on them. Fuck double standards and fuck censorship on a platform meant for adults.

I've seen this happen from places around the world on sites, TV shows, movies, etc. Fake gore almost always gets a pass whereas nudity or swearing needs to be censored at all costs.

How could you not include the cyborg Sam at the start of Metal Gear Revengeance? He absolutely wipes the floor with Raiden, toying with him while spouting his philosophy about combat, even cutting off Raiden's arm and cutting out his left eye.

In regards to alduin saving you at the beginning of Skyrim, my theory is that alduin sensed that a dragonborne was in helgen, but wasn't sure which humanoid it was, so he just decided to destroy helgen in an attempt to eliminate the one being capable of stopping him
There's another theory that one of the gods had summoned Alduin there to answer Lokir's prayers when he called for their assistance, but yours seems more reasonable.

no i think it is that tullius is about to win the war by killing ulfric and if this happens alduin will have lot less souls to consume in sovngarde so he stops the execution to keep the war going.
You being there was just a coincidence, if it wasn't then he would've told mirmulnir which we know he didn't since mirmulnir is suprised we are dragonborn.
I always wanted to think he actually saves you, cause he wants a proper fight. He wants to fight the dragonborne at his best.
ME2. The Collectors blew up my ship, killed some of my crew and killed me. At the end of the game, I blew up their ship, saved all my crew and killed them all and their Reaper Baby.

Here’s a way to get past the lynel:
Step 1: buy shock arrows in gerudo
Step 2: go to the lynel place
Step 3: mission complete
My initial method
1 go there
2 die
3 talk myself into doing it again after cooking food
4 die
5 repeat step 4 several times ala dark souls
6 beat lynel and collect shock arrows
7 vow to never mess with lynels again
Instructions unclear shot myself 3 trillion times.
Step 1: Raid Hyrule Castle early on, STEALTH AND STAMINA FOODS ARE KEY
Step 2: Kick some butt and get a good shield, and the Royal Claymore
Step 3: Go make a bunch of food
Step 4: Repeatively fight the Lynel till you can dominate him
Or you cpuld just jump on him and flurry rush him
I killed the Lynel first try (Vah Ruta was my first guardian) and I suck at video games. You just dodge... the moves are telegraphed years in advance... I literally don't get why people are like "OMG LYNELS ARE THE HARDEST!!!" i had far more difficulty with guardians.

Seeing the big guy that chases you around the entire game in Outlast die so easily at the end of the game is so satisfying.

All the wonderful ways you can kill those two. Also the simply glorious nonlethal way we could, one that involves exiling one and exposing him to the plague, the other exposing his crimes to the world and getting an off screen execution.

You get trapped in a school and forced to do a killing game by a robot bear named monokuma, but in the end you find the master mind behind monokuma and they have to go through EVERY execution that they have done to kidnaped students.( bludgeoning, crushed, fires, launched into space etc.)
Except that the mastermind is a psycho nihilist who somehow enjoys every bit of torture that you put them through.
And don't forget the various things that happened to the dead body afterwards.

They definitely picked the right cast member from Friends to play him. If he was voiced by Joey I'd probably have forgiven him for shooting me... before he even shot me.
Benny or Kellogg. Both of em start you out powerless to stop them. One shoots you, one takes your spawn.
There's also the Executioner in Madness Returns, Who chases you down Queen's Land until you find the growing cake. Once big, you are introduced to a rather amusing cutscene where you squish the guy into a pulp and start attacking the Queen's guard towers.

I know this is newer but Sekiro Shadows Die Twice had a perfect example. Lord Genichiro cuts your arm off at the beginning of the game and you get revenge atop Ashina Castle.
I guess you can include any boss from Sekiro, Nioh, and the Souls-borne games that own you upon meeting them
Kelley from Nioh for instance, or the Werebeast from Bloodborne (although with a shit ton of luck you can kill that thing without the Hunter's Blunderbuss), or those damn Black Knights that stalk the lands of Lordran and Anor Londo in EVERY DAMN DARK SOULS GAME
@@deathbykonami5487 Hilariously it's possible to beat Genichiro in that boss fight, but since you're scripted to lose, his soldiers shoot you in the back or something to give him an opening to cut your arm off before you can finish him.

If we count cutscenes, Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2. We don't actually fight him at the beginning, but he lures us into the frozen wastes and tries to blow us up (and then everyone starts calling us "the ones who faced Jack and lived"), and then he calls you up and taunts you for the rest of the game.
Even if it wasn't an in-game fight at the beginning, one of the most satisfying moments of my gaming career was burying my hammer in his skull at the end of my first run.
I let Lilith vaporize him. Then laughed. Hysterically.
Greg Miller I killed him. Then I didn't get a good drop from the warrior, so I reset and killed him again, and again, and again, and again, and ag- ok yeah, you get the idea.
I have played and beaten RE6 (all campaigns, including Ada's) and I must admit the term 'hilariously awesome' is exactly how that final fight with that jerk was.

But if the Nazis made a robot cat, it would never listen to them, and would probably just lay down in the sun and sleep in the middle of a battle. It would also be susceptible to laser pointers, so rebels could just lure it into a trap.
Screw the laser pointers throw some catnip down and watch the giant robot cat act like a crack head pawing at random objects and things that aren't even there or better yet throw the catnip on people that piss you off and watch them get chewed on and clawed until there is only little strips of flesh left.

Surely Benny from New Vegas should be on here. He shoots you in the head before the intro scene has played out. The next twenty hours is a slog to get revenge on that Chandler-Bing-voiced bastard, which can include (but is not limited to): Gunning him down in his own casino, letting him be crucified by some very snazzily-dressed villains, going head to head with him in an unarmed gladiatorial fight to the death, or, my personal favourite, sleeping with him and snapping his neck like a dry twig. Ring-a-ding THAT, baby.

Honestly, i like beating the tutorial boss in Dark Souls: Remastered. The feel of plunging down ontop of the big demons head after you died to it because youre a scrub is so satisfying. And the other copy and paste versions of it
Vile from megaman X. It is literally impossible for you to beat him when you first fight him, but then at the end of the game you can one-shot him with a Hadoken.
Combine from Half Life 2. First they have you picking up cans. Then they beat you with batons. Then you murder them with explosive barrels and giant insects

A robot cat might not fetch but it also spends about 80% of the day in sleep mode.

All you would need to do to deactivate the Panzerkatze is throw a ball of shrapnel, viola hours of diversion and a shoo-in for first place on Germania's funniest home videos.
If I was on of the Imperial Executioners in Skyrim and I heard the weird sound that the dragon made, I probably would have ran for my life like a smart person, instead of just continuing as though nothing had happened.

You just have to properly find and place crystals. Then most things are just a 5 minute stroll away(with some moderate killing on the way).
It ends up being quite similar to Morrowind in terms of travel times, which is fine imo.
Anyway, Dragon's Dogma is a great and fairly unique gameplay experience.

What about Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Within about the first 5 minutes of the game Namir messes you up so badly you basically need a full body replacement, only for you to return later with your awesome built-in sunglasses to show him who's boss.
Mega Man x? The dude at the end of the first level destroys you and makes zero save you. At the end he destroys zero and you dismantle him

Dark souls does a great job with this. During the later parts of the game the bosses you fought before show up as regular enemies. And then are much easier to defeat then when you fought them earlier
Mass Effect 2? The Collectors killed Shepard at the start. All it did was piss Shepard off, and the entire game was pretty much gearing up for revenge... I mean, the Suicide Mission.
come on, no Oblivion? Valen Dreth might not have hurt your body, but he certainly hurt your feelings with a huge amount of very creative insults, plus, he had a whole quest devoted to sneaking back into the tutorial area JUST to kill him.

Valen Dreth, Oblivion. As soon as we leave the character customization he is taunting us for being in prison from his cell and if you choose to join the Dark Brotherhood then you must accept a contract to reenter the imperial prisons and kill him (Taunting him with the line "You're going to die in here." that he delivered to us at the beginning of the game).
No mention of Oblivion? I enjoyed beating Alduin, but it was nothing compared to the quest to take out Valen Dreth

My little brother thought it was part of the quest to also kill the lynel... And actually managed to do it, playing the long game, hiding out and sniping its health off bit by bit. He wasted a lot of time on that with his weak ass equipment but still, respect

I'm surpised you didn't mention Jetstream Sam in Metal Gear Rising: REVENGEANCE. He trashtalks you, cuts off your arm and eye, puts on a suave Colgate smile and runs off, leaving Raiden a bloodied mess. By the end of the game you've become skilled enough to have an honourable duel to the death.

Sam was cool, although he cut my arm. I had more trouble with monsoon who took at least 10 tries, also his sword does a little a speech for a the end, HE EXPECTED YOU TO KILL HIM SO HE GAVE HIS SWORD TO YOU AT THE END
U562 Which just makes all his crazy feats evens more impressive, because that means that he's trained his physical body to the point that he's both stronger and more skilled than people with purely cybernetic bodies. Which means he's essentially a samurai with a robot arm. And if that's not an awesome rival to set up for a cyborg ninja, I don't know what is.
I remember getting mauled by that Lynel... After coming a long way in the game I came across another lynel and decided to slay it out of spite. What I didn't know at the time was that the lynel I killed, the first one I managed to kill too, was a SILVER Lynel. After realizing this I IMMEDTIATLY returned to the shock-arrow gathering spot, and well... revenge is so so sweet~

What about Razor for the first Need For Speed Most Wanted back in 05? He cheats to steal your ride and then is the final boss of the game. Getting your ride back from him was the ultimate high when i first played the game.
Except then you get the buzzkill of that Condition 6 pursuit where you have to use that ride, which doesn't quite pass muster anymore. Of course, that final jump...

How about Red Dead Redemption where you give Bill Williamson a taste of his own medicine.
I'd say Red Dead is the opposite of killing the guys who screw you over in the beginning since it's the government agents who kidnap John's family at the start of the game and then when he faces them at the end... well we all know how that goes for him.

Tartarus. Halo 2 begins with him torturing the Arbiter, and clearly enjoying it. A little over halfway through the game, he attempts to kill the Arbiter knocking him into a pit. It's hard not to enjoy taking him down once and for all during the game's last level.

What about Darth Bandon from KOTOR? He kills Trask while you're powerless to save him and even kills his own men for... fun? I think?
It took me 14+ playthroughs but I realized that he kills that random trooper because the trooper walked in front of him as he was making his grand entrance on to the bridge.

What about Horizon Zero Dawn? When Helis almost kills you at the start of the game you get to put that mad dog down before moving on to the rest of the fight.
Must admit, I found the finale of skyrim rather anticlimactic. Alduin is basically just a dragon, and I'd literally killed hundreds of those by the time I got around to finishing the main quest. And now the game's given me warriors from Valhalla..erm...Soverngard?... and a dragon shout that makes dragons crash land and become monumentally more vulnerable.
Sorry, not an interesting final boss. Good game, bad final boss.
I don't think it was that bad, especially compared to Oblivion. At least you actually got to fight him, while in the previous game you just watched an NPC do the (incredibly slow and poorly choreographed) fighting while you were rooted in place with control restricted to moving the camera only. Couldn't even draw your weapon or use magic to aid in the fight.
Honestly though Skyrim was never about the main quest. There's too much other cool shit to do.

Fully agreed - I've only done the main quest once. That's why I said "good game, bad final boss." More story focused games would take a *much* bigger hit from having that lacklustre finale.
I believe he's intentionally easy just in case anyone somebow managed to make it to that point with a bad character, or at least not one meant for combat. If he was an actual super Dragon boss, certain builds just flat out couldn't beat the game, like a pure stealth thief or something.

Was Sarevok really that hard? I only ever played the Enhanced Edition, but he seemed like a bit of a pushover after Durlag's Tower.
Never played Durlag's tower! I had the game (10+ discs) around the time it came out, but my parents didn't want to spring for the expansion pack, and thus I've never properly 'completed' my tweenage favorite. Either way, I picked a sorcerer class and ended up being underleveled against an opponent which my main character literally could not damage (spell resistance). But even the mighty Sarevok cannot withstand summoning wand spam followed by 8,000,000 masterwork arrows.
What an epic sight that must have been to behold! :-D
Seriously, though, you should check out the Enhanced Edition on Steam or on the dev's website, they might have had a pretty rough start as fans rightly pointed out many flaws compared to the original, but by the time I got around to playing it, the new devs really improved the game a lot and even got around to smoothing out some of the original's rough edges.
If nothing else, for the nostalgia and the hands down best piece of level design in any RPG with no movement grid.
What about Lloyd from Legend of Dragoon? Cocky, self assured and with a chip on his shoulder as the last of his race, he mops the arena with you when you first encounter him, which makes the eventual boss battle hours later all the more satisfying.
You should do a list of times you showed that jerk immediately, my submission is the imperial captain who didn't care that you were innocent and is the first person you kill once free (if you choose to go with Ralof and not Hadvar) and was so satisfying to get immediate revenge on her.
Arl Rendon Howe from Dragon Age: Origins. Playing as a human noble and finally getting revenge for him killing your family and stealing your home is still so goddamn satisfying
I would have said Corypheus the main antagonist in Dragon Age Inquisition given what he does to your group in Haven then you turn around and kick his ass a the end of the game.

I had like 6 or 7 I almost went straight to Vah Ruta my first time playing trough and killed the Lynel by hiding behind rocks peaking out and poking him with a sword or what arrows I had and didn’t need later.
I focused solely on adding stamina by the time i met up with the lynel so one hit was enough to kill me. I prepared by carrying a bunch of faires so i had like three screwups available but i still had to worry about running out of weapons
He had the master sword too and you need 13 hearts to get it. I call cheats

Cesare Borgia from Assassin's creed brotherhood needs a mention. He destroys the town I'd spent the entire previous game building. Revenge on him was sweet.

I can't believe they left out handsome Jack his constant taunting and jokes at your expenses made it so satisfying when at the end I let Lilith disintegrate him, I could have tomahawked him in the head as a commando but with the way he treated Lilith and his own siren daughter it was great to see Lilith give him death by siren like I like to think angel would hav thought was him getting what he truly deserved

In the beginning you can’t even _damage_ Dasan, even in God Mode.
If you fully upgrade yourself the final battle is so satisfying once you beat him.

Unless you climb on top of a rock out of their reach and pepper them with level 1 spells for like an hour. That's how I roll, I rather waste an hour than ignore a hard foe until I'm leveled up enough to beat it in a minute.

Giants are best not messed with until you get your combat skills, health and levels up high enough. They're one of the reasons I always go sword and board when playing a warrior.

When prompted to find a jerk to kill in an Elder Scrolls game, Alduin, a dragon that saves the player's life in the start of the game, is picked in favor of Valen Dreth, a guy that holds no other purpose than to insult the player at the start of the game and then be assassinated in the Dark Brotherhood questline.
Destiny 2. Dominus Ghaul.
After spending the entire game in a life-or-death Cat and Mouse, reclaiming the Last City and storming the Tower was such a great experience.
And also, watching Ghaul die, killed by his own thirst for power, was one of the greatest things in *_MY_* history of great things.

A Guardian mortally wounded Link, but you don't actually play that part or even see it until way later. In any case, the Guardians would have been a good choice for this too.
I find that guardians shouldve taken the lynels spot because for me the lynel was easy
*cough* Harder than Guardians! *cough* *cough* Parry! *cough* Except in Master Mode where the guardians realize their fatal flaw and fix it by changing up the timings on their lasers.
...which you can still work around by simply parrying when you'd normally parry their lasers and then immediately parrying again afterwards...?
Admittedly, that sometimes doesn't work for me. Then again, I still occasionally miss normal mode parries.
