I really want to say thank you for this post. U have no idea how many people with this texture would consider this as 'not loc'ing hair' n get frustrated because they expect it to look a certain way. Great demo n technique for mixed/softer textures.

I miss the old days of Your videos. I have hair very similar to your son's, and this is how I learned to loc my hair.

I'm a loose/curly/hair dread starter as well! Thanks for showing this and showing your sons journey! I actually had to go back and reference this video in a way! I tried different products on my hair! My hair texture won't allow it! I was using several different oil/moisturizers/medicated no more itch but it was all of those product causing build up and an itchy head! I'm 1.5 months in and it feels like a long time and it feels like I'm trying to hard to maintain and certain standard of dread! I WAS doing it for all the wrong reason and I have to let it go! I have to let it be! I live in the Bay Area (Stockton but commute to Hayward for work) and I haven't let anyone else in my head but myself and my partner since I've started my journey. The person who started my locs/dreads made me be like umm I can't trust anyone in my head and I don't want negativity latching on and locking in my hair. I rinsed today (see page for pic) and I love my hair better in this state! Like I said thank you for sharing hopefully he'll let us back in and I'm learning to embrace my loose/curly/mix locs/dreads! Peace love and sooooul! - Tamika Denise

I'm really impress with how well they stayed during washing,i think your gentle washing technique played a big part. I can't believe he's budding already i'm very jealous, it took months before i saw any progress. He'll be locked in no time !!

Thank you and your son for helping us fine-haired lockers out. I've always wanted locks and upon semi-retirement two years ago, took the dive. Funny though, I still seem to like everyone else's dreads better than my own. Your videos have been helpful in getting my own on the right track. Thank you very much.

I've watched these videos and they were very helpful in showing me what I can expect out of my locs. I'm two days away from three weeks and I am going for my first retwist tonight. I have loose hair and my locs were very similar to your son's when I got mine first comb coiled. I have been searching for a person with my hair style for a long time. Very good vids and thank you.

OMG I LOVE!!! The way you started your son's locs! I appreciate the time and attention you put into detail as well as the overall health of his hair. On top of that, you worked with his natural curl pattern which is probably another reason why they look so natural and effortless on him. What I would do to have you start mine! I have longer hair like your son, and I am weary of going to a random stylist based on pictures they found on the internet. Thanks for the great videos. Keep them coming!

Most i see still look a little girly but that one i would love for my wife to see done so she could do it for me along with some other style ideas you have for him. My locs are a tiny bit longer than his but same size. Thanks very much for the vids you do. i started my Journey with your's and Tbey's vid help! Both of you are very easy to follow and understand.

I live contra costa county and I can't find anyone to do my dreads who won't crochet it. I have wanted dreads for 3 years now and I wasn't inspired until I saw this series today. I have mix hair that naturally want to dread so I don't understand why I need to crchet and/or perm it. Being adopted I had to trust random people with my hair since my asian parents were so overwhelmed by it lol Thanks for posting these videos

I've been looking at all the updates you've done to his hair and it's giving me motivation I just put locks in my hair they have been in for a week now I guess I'm just impatient and I want them to hurry up and lock for the most part my hair is coarse but some parts of my hair is a little fine in the back and I lay on my back when I sleep it's a little difficult to keep those locs locked I do keep my hair wrapped at night sometimes it falls off do you have any suggestions

Before I started my locs, Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the tips always took care of my split ends. (I hated losing length with trims). I always recommend trying that before trimming.
