This is fantastic. Thank you for this! I used to do a lot more video editing years ago in college, but I've since stopped and now I'm super rusty. Really appreciate this refresher; got exactly what I needed and more :D
Great tutorial! You should do more premiere pro / after effects tutorials like this! Just found your channel trying to find a guide on how to edit like Ali Abdal which was also an amazing video! I’m surprised you’re channel isn’t way bigger. Keep up the good work brother!
I’ve had a few people ask about this. So I’ll create a downloadable file pack on google drive and pin the link in the comments. I’ll let you know when it’s done
I was having trouble with this so bad! In my video i need the mask object to have a fixxed position. Like... perma fixxed. And I often need to reposition the underlaying video. However when I do that, the Mask shape move with it. Your instruction at 3.46 (offset in combination with 'track matte key') was the solution after HOURS of trial and error frustration. Thanks so much!!!! Liked and followed!
Adobe should really streamline this. Having to add two additional effects to do this is trivial. This is much easier in After Effects, but if Adobe wants to stay competitive, stuff like this needs to be simplified.
Thank you. I hope your channel will blow up faster. You deserve it. Do you have any tutorial on how to make that shape morphing effect in after effects?
You are an absolute legend my man! I have been trying to find how to do this for so long that every time I try to figure it out I end up giving up. I saw this edit from markiplier video originally. Genuinely thank you so much man!
there is an issue I ran into, when I set the scale lower than 100 in the the transform the square png shape i picked becomes a weird shape but zoom in is working, I cant seem to be able to figure it out, are you able to help me?
Thanks kindly for taking the time to create this vid, it was well explained & very cool. I’m just wondering though, does the PNG shape I choose need to be transparent?
Thanks Bayode! I really appreciate that :) I made it myself in after effects. Don't currently have a way of sharing this, but if you search shapes morphing tutorial in after effects you should be able to make it pretty easily.
I've watched a couple videos using cropping, and this one is definitely a different technique than I've seen before. However, no one seems to address how to transition from the footage with the crop back to full frame footage, and back to crop again. Trying to sort out how to do that step also :) Maybe a good short to link to this video??
Thanks for the comment. I have an idea of how it might be done. It would involve animating the position and scale values of the png shape layer and also the footage layer at the same time. Might make a quick video on it.
Yo the weirdest Google search revealed this video and I was already subbed up! 🤣 Ok be on the look out Im using this for a different looking shape instead of the simple ones I was using thanks
Thanks for the help. But i still need more help...why does my shape for example the square appear bigger than my image...as it not the mask becomes to big to clip the image...could you please help me out..
Hi Lori, I’m pretty sure for this one I made it in photoshop. But you would also be able to create one in canva (online for free) or find one on google. I can also send one to you via email if you’d like. Just get in touch through my about section :)
when I applied the track-mate key to my footage & selected the matte layer to my respective layer in my case V-3 the footage just disappeared ??? Can you please guide
when i do the tracking it somehow moves the object ? do you have a way to fix this? so as soon as i put the object in the right place and put tracking on the video, it moves the object out of place :(
It can be a pain. One solution I found is to make the image of the shape the same size as the sequence (e.g. 1920x1080 - even if the shape is smaller within that - as long as the background is transparent it will still work). Then apply the track matte before moving it around. Hope that helps!
I had issues resizing the video which affects the track matte. If anyone has this issue, move the video into position then NEST it. Then apply the track matte effect to the nested clip.
Third step: Basically, we have to do the roto of the clip, duplicate layer, add circle to below the roto and above the original clip, apply luma key Is this the way to do this?
This is fantastic. Thank you for this! I used to do a lot more video editing years ago in college, but I've since stopped and now I'm super rusty. Really appreciate this refresher; got exactly what I needed and more :D

@@Validation Hi, I'm struggling with this one too, is the file pack linked anywhere in your videos? Please help!
Dude freaking awesome, I was struggling after seeing the bubble part of your Ali Abdaal video.
Thank you so much !
Fantastic! Giving me ideas. Couldn't do it myself but knowing more about what to look for in a video editor. Thanks!

I have an older version but this can be done from title panel, creating the shape you want. No need of a png.
Really helpful video, thanks
Boas dicas! Mas como transformar uma Forma ou um sólido em png, em máscara, no Premiere...?

i mean attitude reels style like flicker effects and voice like deep movie style

I just want all these on Da Vinci.
I wish I could help, but haven’t used Davinci yet.
I had issues resizing the video which affects the track matte. If anyone has this issue, move the video into position then NEST it. Then apply the track matte effect to the nested clip.
Thank you, but Premiere needs to work on their UX, cuz it's ridiculous.
