Just a thought, for the others looking at this intake, during installation you could try mounting the bracket to the block first, then set the tube. The short bolt to tube could be done by reaching under the tube. Might be easier to thread. I do watch yours and Modded videos, informative and fun. Fellow 18 Giulia Q4 owner,
great channel. i wonder - with your skills would you have any idea on how to retrofit the updated digital dash from the current stelvio quad to the older models? I see eng-custom in italy do all sorts of crazy updates - yet to see this update....
Yes I know how to as well. I just don’t have funds to get the parts. Requires programing with taping a wire in the lin bus system and a 2024 clock spring don’t ask why but yeah.
Great video! The intake pipe looks great. Never been a fan of just open filters, more of a look thing for me. I have the AFE intake but im looking for a better intake tube. Im currently using the stock intake tube bc i remember you saying the AFE tube can cause CELs.
A lot of people don't understand how forced induction works. Any air being sucked in is going through the turbo, then the intercooler, then the engine anyways, which will cool it down. So any difference in temperature is negligible. With a normally aspirated car it makes more of a difference as the hot air from the engine bay is being sucked right into the engine(No intercooler).
An intercooler is only going to remove a set amount of heat depending on the outside temp and the speed of the air going over it. There for the hotter the air going in, the hotter the air the engine is going to ingest. You can't magically have cooler air just because you have an intercooler.
@@jlsracing997true but in this case it's a negligible difference. There was actually a study done that's on youtube on Guilia intakes showing that the post intercooler air temps between the "hot air intakes" and stock were 1 degree or less.
@@jlsracing997 we don’t have an intercooler it’s a heat exchanger and if you didn’t know that well there you go, but still the cars ECU only cares about numbers it doesn’t care what the outside temp is only after the heat exchanger and from a stock air box to an open one the data showed 2 degrees Fahrenheit difference from BMS open air and that difference does nothing for power reduction. The way it works is when the car ECU senses hot post IAT it pulls timing and that makes power loss. 2 degrees from the stock set up to open is not going to trigger a timing reduction. I’m sorry but we have data specific to this platform you don’t. I don’t even sell intakes I have zero to gain from this video other than people watching. I don’t even have an affiliate link with this company
Do you guys get an air swooshing sound on acceleration? I did the small screw after and it’s hard to tread I actually cross thread it a bit. I think the small screw first and then the bracket to block would be better . Also needed to add a washer to the screw to the block it’s a little to long Also I did not need to pull the engine cover
@Ybshy Most of the heat is produced at the turbo site, which is at the driver side rear as opposed to the intake location. Factor in the huge amount of air afforded by the giulia grille design. If it's that concerning, though, you can use a burger tuning heat shield or have a custom heat shield made. But as long as your filter is at the foremost part of the car, it should pull cooled air. Heat is usually a problem with short ram intakes, and air boxes get hot if they're not thermal lined, so it's all relative.
@@alfamods2.0T appreciate the info, thank you! Keep up with your content, I’m thinking of investing in the hybrid turbo and the squadra tune to complement this intake, got any suggestions?
@@alfamods2.0T yeah, but it's not about only sound right? Euro takes fresh air from factory air box. Gale banks would've been mad if he saw your setup :D
@@skullofserpent5727 With the v4 yes the v2 it’s kinda ish you’re not really gonna get ram air level seal when it’s not enclosed. I’ve also done the data logging and I can say it really doesn’t matter what intake you run they really don’t make much difference in post IAT temps unless your on the highway at 100% throttle. So in reality would I buy one of these for power probably not maybe 10hp and that’s maybe I’m tuned as well. This is true for all the intakes I think K&N had a very legit dyno showing 10hp and 16 tq EC V2 is 9hp and 15 tq EC V4 is 11hp 20 Tq. So id say sound was the main reason why I got this. Lol I tried so many intakes this is number 5 if one was just that much better with power I would be recommending it above the rest, but right now based on what we have it’s really your choice none really hurt it would show in my post IAT temps and timing tables.
@@joebama6945 it would be the same as any 2017-24 I would start with a tune for power squadra or JB4 if you don’t wanna flash. Intake for sound and go pedal for the annoying throttle lag. The turbo spools very fast but this car has some seriously annoying low rpm lag. Thats performance. For cosmetics I’d start with a spoiler for the rear.
Yep the rear spoiler was the first thing I did . If I plan on a flash upgrade in the future should I avoid the go pedal? If I do try the go pedal what are your thoughts on the new Bluetooth version? Also how feasible is getting the flash software and tuning myself? Also your Alfa sounds great you mentioned an other mod during your test drive
Don’t wanna be that guy but doing that type of intake is just sucking hot air and heat soaking the motor you should get the AFE cold air intake comes with a close box intake design .
I’ve tried it they pretty much all feel the same performance wise. I’ve tried Forge motorsports AFE, stock with bmc filter, V1 EC, V2 EC, ideal race, BMS, pretty much all that’s on the market I’ve only made videos on this one and AFE because those I liked a lot. So with that being said when I data log for post IAT temps alll these intakes are with in a few degrees of temp. They all slightly improve power in the upper. I would get ideal if you want crazy sound. AFE is a mix but to quite for me especially since I can’t tell the performance difference between any of these. If I had 5 new cars only changing intakes out and had a blind drive I wouldn’t be able to tell other than by sound not power
Yeah pretty much some people enjoy hearing the turbo sounds. Good thing is install is like 30-40 min so easy to swap. I’ve already swapped mine back to stock with a BMC filter. I will then try another one soon enough.
Kool. I have the euro compulsion v2 intake. If youre familar with it? What you feel is the improvement from that version to this? And do you think the improvement is from the carbon fiber itself or the different filter?
I think it’s the diameter of the intake elbow you can really really hear things and the WOT is very smooth. The carbon may make a difference as well, we will see as I’m going to start data logging it.
I have this along with the 93 octane tune, it is awesome together as they tune with the intake
How would you describe the over all? From stock
@alfamods2.0T big difference, mild pops and bangs too. Came from a drop in filter and seletron chipbox connect
