    This worked, you are a genius. 2023 kia stinger. I love you!!

    Instead of using metal washers, I would have used nylon washers to avoid the possibility of rust on the unpainted washers which could spread onto the car.

  • @adbarrnz
    @adbarrnz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The rattle fix works great. I used nylon 5/16" M8 size washers and ended up with one washer per screw (four total: two for each latch). I tried two washers per screw (eight total) but it was too much and the trunk wouldn't close and just opened back up. Just one 5/16" nylon washer for each screw still did the trick. Lastly, my Stinger was built in January 2019 and didn't have this fix, so they aren't doing it from the factory. This means that even brand new cars coming off the boat will probably need some washers.

      That’s crazy that KIA wouldn’t make the change from the factory!

      do i just replace the washers on the hatchback door hardware or also on the hardware on the lower car itself. Also, trying the fix, the trunk would not close and the hatchback would not close as should,

    • @dennisorel
      @dennisorel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      just the upper hatchback hardware and just use one 5/16 washer (non metal) per bolt

    It's funny how now I go though bumps on roads I usually travel and would cringe knowing it was gonna make that annoying sounds, but now I go through the same streets and enjoy the quietness 🙂

    • @dennisorel

      sorry, you video is great but i got a gts 2019 just now which is a late model and it had no fix what so ever. I bought a non metal 5/16 washer and installed it on each bolt and it worked fine. Trying to install two per bolt did not work for the hatch would not close properly. So, I would suggest using one 5/16 non metal washer on each bolt and all will work just fine. So, two washer per harness or 4 total (two per hatch harness).

    Thanks for making the video I will do this on my Stinger because the hatch rattles like crazy ! Aslo nice sound deadener application, that section where you applied it is the biggest difference why the KIA Stinger has more road noise then the Genesis G70-G80. Both those cars have sound deadeners in the truck area under the car the Stinger has none.

    Great video. Don't have the rattle yet on my 2018, but this is relief to see it's an easy fix.
    Man, Kia made no attempt at sound dampening. I can clearly hear my music outside my car even on low volumes.
    I would like to dampening the trunk and the doors and have a pro damp the cabin floor.

    Hey man thanks so much for this video! I have a 2020 Stinger and had developed the rattle in the hatch, too, but only on one side. I did your fix and it worked! I used at T30 Torx Allen key (i had saw on a forum that people were using T40's, so maybe they changed the bolts for 2020?). I also used just one 5/16 washer instead of doubling up; using two washers made the hatch a little more difficult to open. Now I can drive without cringing every time I hit a bump lol
