They were upset at the portrayal of the Christian character of the Devil as being redeemable, which is what the show is aiming to do. If the Devil can be redeemed and forgiven, then anyone can, to paraphrase a few people who have worked on the show. OMM started a petition to get the show removed before it was cancelled and picked up by Netflix.

I really love how effective the Lucifer/Maze fight was without having to be a big budget over the top cgi spectacle.
