I’d recommend starting with the Mistborn trilogy and not the series mentioned in this video The Stormlight Archives (SA). While SA is undoubtedly his best work, Mistborn trilogy is the best intro to his work. Some characters are a bit rough around the edges but he really brings each book and the trilogy as a whole to such a satisfying ending that is worth the journey.

4:30 my boyfriend and I have discussed a bit about Stormlight and Wheel of Time. We both agree that Crossroads of Twilight is that book in the WoT series where nothing happens, it's a bit of a drag once you've caught onto that. We felt this way about Oathbringer as well. I stopped reading it once I had finished part one a year ago, he stopped half way through. The reason was that it felt like Crossroads. Its interesting that Sanderson mentions that each book feel like a trilogy unto itself because that's how I saw Oathbringer, having got myself back into it last month and finishing it a couple of weeks ago. The first half of the book felt to mean like number one, nothing really happens, it just feels like its setting things up. Part two and three sharing the rest of the book being where it's at. I've hassled my boyfriend about finishing it (he started WoK again). The action is amazing and Dalinar is an absolute Chad of a man. It's just getting to the good stuff.

Kaladin's bridge runs dragged on a little much and seemed too repetitive, but when him starting to develop powers after being in the storm was the turning point that caught my attention again. Shallan's story probably picked up for me when she started to see spren in her drawings, it was a little spooky.

I love how he talks about kind of "leading" the audience through the story. I can never anticipate how people will take a text or chapter or whatever bc I really have trouble imagining reading that story for the first time with just the information given, it's also why it's hard for me to tell a story in an understandable way (I mean when I'm talking to friends) bc I obviously know all the details but they don't and for me it's difficult to see it from their perspective who've never heard of it before. SO what I'm trying to say is that it takes some experience to anticipate the readers' reaction beforehand and I really appreciate him sharing his experience.

As you are conversing, we're flies on the wall, being let in on the ultimate conversation -- how lucky to be invited! You bring a quality of analysis, regard and curiosity that steps up the level of the author's answers. It invites the author to speak to the best in their readers. It makes us better readers, and better authors, by introducing questions far beyond the common and expected. What a service to both the authors and your audience.
