Animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to help with cleaning and feeding. I’m in the Chicago suburbs, so I don’t know how New York shelters work. Usually there is an orientation involved and a commitment to certain amount of hours needed throughout the year, but something to look into! Love your involvement in the community ❤️
This world can be so isolating sometimes. Thank you for showing others how to reach out and be part of a healthy community. We definitely need more of this! Blessing others is an even bigger blessing to ourselves.

great video! i used to volunteer a lot in highschool and it’s definitely something that should be discussed more. I feel like in our “hustle” culture, compassion like that gets left on the backburner or, even worse, side eyed as being ineffective or disingenuous. It’s great to see the spirit of giving chelsea! ❤❤
This is such a great video! Keeping it real like always when you admitted that the reason you signed up to volunteer in the first place was to meet someone 😂💟I work with food rescues in my area through my employer and the people who volunteer here are always so nice too! And it feels good knowing the food won't go to waste. edit: omg why do I remember those grapes?! hahaha
Last week I went with my daughter to complete her volunteer hours for her high school sports team. We picked a garden that supports our local food banks in the surrounding counties. It was 3.5 hours and the garden was like a balm to my soul! We all enjoyed it so much are going to make volunteering there a regular thing. If anyone is in the North TX area and wants to volunteer, I recommend looking into Shiloh in Denton. It is an amazing place!
I love NY Cares! When I was in a rut volunteering around the city really helped. Now I'm a team leader with them for some of the environmental projects around the city. Hope to see you at one!
I have been volunteering for a kitty rescue for years. I help with feeding feral colonies, and it's such a happy time for me. Any volunteer work is good for your soul. Keep going Chelsea.
I am so grateful for this christmas gift of vlogmas. You literally don't know. There are NO other channels like yours. When youtube recommends "similar videos" of you they only offer more videos of you because you are in your own category. On my main page when they categorize recommendations like 'travel', 'history', 'science', 'podcast', etc. You get your own 'Chelsea Callahan' category and that should tell you how unique your channel is that YT isnt even able to put you in a category and how needed it is. So even though you don't know me, I am genuinely appreciative that you have given me such an awesome gift!! Thank you! You are my pg version of Carrie Bradshaw and S*x in the city and I am here for it for the long haul!
I will say, as a newly single person sometimes I have days off where I literally don’t know what to do with my time and never once have I thought about volunteering… I’m so happy you consistently show you doing these things because I can only imagine how much this inspires people to go out and volunteer!! Hi Chelsea! I’ve been a volunteer coach with the Special Olympics for 20+ years and I could not think of a better more rewarding volunteer experience. Special Olympics is world wide and volunteers don’t necessarily have to have sport specific training or coaching experience. 😀
I love how strong the volunteer culture is in the U.S.; it's very different from how it is in my country (Norway). But you inspire me to find similar opportunities here as well! I've been thinking about signing up to volunteer for an organization that helps homeless cats and dogs. I think it's time to stop thinking and actually start doing it ❤
This is wonderful. I used to live in NYC but now in WNC where Helene hit the hardest and it's been amazing to volunteer here and get out of myself. So rewarding. I have been in recovery for over 26 years and being of service is more fulfilling than any drink I ever had :) Love being a part of community :)

I've been volunteering at different venues, some regularly, for the past 15 years. As a displaced NYer, stuck out on the desert southwest 😢, I didn't have friends for my first 20 years here. But through volunteering ( animal shelters and rescues, the zoo, PBS, children's literacy, the art museum and a single moms cancer foundation), I've gained many lifelong friends and also valuable personal and professional experience. Volunteering is always a win win for all. Happy Vlogmas day 2. ❤

Just signed up to volunteer at my local community garden’s holiday market this Saturday! Thank you for inspiring me. It was actually one of my New Year’s resolutions to volunteer more and I’ve only gone once this year 😅 excited for vlogmas!!
You are truly a good person! I’m in my early 30s and WFH so I’ve been struggling with making new friends. I considered joining a church but I’m not even religious. I don’t drink so meeting friends at a bar doesn’t make sense and I don’t want to pay to join a gym! Anyway, I never even considered volunteering! I’m so sorry to admit that. But thank you so much for this video and for doing what you do for your community. You’ve inspired me to look at my own local organizations and see how I can give back ❤
Being a volunteer or joining a sports club or crafty meet-ups is just the best (yes, even for introverts like me, haha) to get out there and mingle. I’ve not regretted my volunteer activities ONCE (I do creative journaling together with like minded people who enjoy playing with paints and markers - and I volunteer my digital duties in care homes. I swear I have NEVER had so much coffee as since I’ve been dropping by to help my elderly friends. Gallons of coffee - and tonnes of cookies 😂)

In an effort to mitigate the rat problem, I have joined the NYC Rat Pack. There is one training, one walk with the rat czar, then a volunteer requirement in community clean-up. I know it might sound gross, but sadly we need to understand these "neighbors" and how to deal with them. Plus, it's kind of interesting!

Love these videos! I feel like they more align with who you are 😊. I also recommend volunteering for your local park through the Parks Department. They often have foundations you that run the volunteer corps and can always use help with keeping our parks clean. Plus, there's nothing like hard labor to help people band and bond together. 😅

We all need to find ways to discover our "communities" and people we can relate to ... especially right now with the radically divided political climate in this country ... helping others is NEVER a bad idea and if you meet some good people to hang out with, all the better.

Hi Chelsea, over the last couple of years I’ve been volunteering with the retail sector that supports my local hospice and I can wholeheartedly say it’s been a valuable and worthwhile thing to do. I’ve met wonderful people and helped support my local community. I would recommend volunteering to those who are unsure. I like the flexibility of volunteering when it suits me and knowing my time is appreciated. It’s good fun and a great way to socialise (I don’t socialise much otherwise!). I wish you all the best with your volunteering endeavours in 2025 ❤
When I lived in New York, I volunteered to count trees. I think it must have been the parks department. I didn’t meet anyone but it was a great excuse to get outside.
Love seeing u everyday and its awesome u share this i use to love volunteering if ppl can I highly suggest you do. I use to volunteer backstage theater so im sure u can volunteer in something u love too

I wish I'd thought about this when I lived in NYC a few years ago. I struggled to meet new people and give back, felt like all I did was work work work work and the nyc hustle can get old real quick! I like your ideas and suggestions. We all need to find ways to discover our "communities" and people we can relate to ... especially right now with the radically divided political climate in this country ... helping others is NEVER a bad idea and if you meet some good people to hang out with, all the better.
BTW ... it made me smile when you said you didn't know there was a church at the "SALVATION Army Building." I think their theme song is "Onward Christian Soldiers." It's so funny the things we don't think about and then say "I was today years old when I learned...." LOL
I just volunteered before Thanksgiving at City Harvest with my company! So fun and nice to give back to the community. :)

Hi Chelsea, over the last couple of years I’ve been volunteering with the retail sector that supports my local hospice and I can wholeheartedly say it’s been a valuable and worthwhile thing to do. I’ve met wonderful people and helped support my local community. I would recommend volunteering to those who are unsure. I like the flexibility of volunteering when it suits me and knowing my time is appreciated. It’s good fun and a great way to socialise (I don’t socialise much otherwise!). I wish you all the best with your volunteering endeavours in 2025 ❤
When I lived in New York, I volunteered to count trees. I think it must have been the parks department. I didn’t meet anyone but it was a great excuse to get outside.

I wish I'd thought about this when I lived in NYC a few years ago. I struggled to meet new people and give back, felt like all I did was work work work work and the nyc hustle can get old real quick! This is awesome, love that you're using your platform to encourage people to give back, especially this time of year!
