  • While on my trip to Alberta, I came across the pikestuff engine house for a reasonable price at Hobby Tech in Calgary. This is what got me started on this engine facility and this video will show the progression and expansion of it. I did mention that I had flood lights coming in from ebay which would take around 20 days but they actually came in much faster than expected and will be shown in the layout update at the end of the month. Thanks for watching!

    Great video! That CP ex D&H 7307 was on what was once my local line. I couldn’t help but notice.

    I modeled the Chicago Northwestern. But I am a big fan of Canadian national and Canadian Pacific railroad engines they always just look awesome👍 I also use joint compound for parking lots and Roads it really works well and you get a lot of it and it goes a long way. Just a hint never throw away extra parts always keep them you can use them for someplace else even the plastic sperse can be turned into pipe work keep it up it looks good🚂

    Wow looks great. I love how the engine shed looks and the little details make it standout like the little tanks. And I see that you got new locomotive, they look amazing with the engine shed. Great video!

    OR 12... i really like how you are building your engine facility !!! this type of facility has always been my favorite thing to plan and build, and the "business office" is a great touch, too !! yes, the pikestuff directions are rather sad in the fact that they actually tell you in several of their direction sheets that " we kind of messed up" when they were making their plastic model molds/products.... i believe they use multiple parts from many different kits and the gutters remain one of their biggest mistakes !!! here is a trick for you... as i am sure you know, companies like plastruct and evergreen make tons of different types of plastic for us modelers ( modellers in canadian !!!) so i always keep a good supply of their small "U" shaped lengths of plastic on hand just to make up for pikestuffs mistakes !!! i spray them light gray and they look just fine... a cheap fix, too !!! looks like you are planning nicely as well... i actually use pencil, tablet and graph paper when exploring facility options for my layout, usually over morning coffee or evening beer, then on to hockey night in canada !!! honestly, you would be surprised how often a thought process will change when written down prior to starting the project. i screwed up so many times building things with their respective placement in mind that pre-job planning on an engineers tablet saved my sorry butt from many more mistakes !!! i combine this with google searches, both by modellers AND prototypes, of diesel facilities/buildings/etc and that, too, saved my sorry ass from a lot of mistakes !!! keep up the good work, OR, my friend !!!

    The box stuff with the bag of wet mud works better than the tub stuff ! It's called Machine mud.

    OR 12... ok.... being an engineer i had to learn the hard way about building/facility placement as i wasted way too much time having second thoughts about this stuff. i finally realized that i wasted too much time and not enough " pre-thinking" about what should go where, so i plan at least one and maybe two times on paper. do you have a video that shows your track plan ? i take it you are in western canada... i am in western ny state about 35 miles directly south of buffalo, ny. tons of cp and cn here, which i really like. keep up the good work OR 12 !!! blessings to you !!!

    • @ontariorail1251
      @ontariorail1251  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t really have a track plan and sort of went with my imagination of combining several scenes around the cn and cp system in Canada.
