Those are decent games, except one Taito game which was in one of the “Taito Legends” compilations. There was another one called “Space Cruiser”, a pretty solid game, but hard as heck.
X-men , turtles and simpsons was my favorite arcade games ever, side scroller team up beat em ups, 1 quarter/token to continue and beat the whole game when you have people who want to keep going
JoE KeRr yeah those are the best arcade experiences a group of people teaming up to beat the same game and maybe a few people just standing on the side watching. Arcade days like that are over
Chris Robba Like James said, sad but true. One of the most satisfying experiences I remember as a teen at 13, and this was during the peak of the Street Fighter II revolution (Summer of 1991), was when I would be playing in single player mode and another kid would come by and insert his quarter into the slot and prepare to get his or her ass kicked. I was a beast with Ryu (Ken), Guile, and Chun-Li. Same thing happened the following year when a little fighting game called Mortal Kombat debuted at my local arcade. Long live the good old daze.
Rastan looks like Volgar the Viking which is a PC game but it was one hit kill unless you picked up armor etc. Even the monster designs and Rastan's animation is the same with Volgar.
When you played Rastan all I could think is Mike's one step closer to player Cadash lol. It's like Rastan and Zelda II combined and you can select 4 players...
Yeah my grandpa had a store and this is one of the games we had. We would rotate some of the games out but we kept Cadash cause the extra screens was cool and I loved it. I got the arcade copy on Taito Legends and the TurboGrafx mini is gonna have the console version on it...
Mike , what are you playin these on? I been lookin for a retropie console but I have no idea what I am doing. Does any body know where I can get help setting one up , roms , or where I can get one already setup??.
Gun.Smoke arcade is way more brutal than the NES port. Would be great to see you work on beating it in a stream. Its so hard that I am actually trying to figure out how to map Load State on Mame to my joystick, because going back to the keyboard every 1 second (literally) makes it exhausting when practicing the bosses. Its one of the few games I put in my brutal games series playlist on the channel. The real difficulty starts somewhere in stage 3 and only gets more extreme from there. Im on stage 6 and have to get back to it. Theres 10 stages. The buttons are mapped as follows, first button fires left, second button fires straight, third button fires right. So its different than the NES mapping. It works incredibly well with an arcade joystick since you use an overhand grip with a finger on each button ready to fire. You really want instant response so for that game I only use the arcade joystick I have. It really excels with that over a saturn pad or snes pad. Combining the three buttons in different ways will have some other firing angles but I found those useless. I just stick with left, right and straight fire. Heres a little sample of how extreme the game gets at the stage 5 boss th-cam.com/video/qtcrX7-psjI/w-d-xo.html Also keep in mind you always start at the checkpoints with no power ups and are limited to what you can find before you die again, as usual for old arcade games. This one is just especially brutal. Having beat alot of arcade and console games the arcade games are usually MUCH harder than the console ports and alot of console games in general. They really use the extra horsepower to fill the screen and they are designed to take your money. Gun.Smoke seems at the top of the foodchain for arcade games difficulty wise. Gradius 3 seems really fucking extreme with limited continues. If you die once your basically fucked. The arcade versions of Gyruss, Ninja Spirit, Legend Of Hero Tonma, Karnov, Gun.Smoke and Jackal for example, are all WAY harder then the home ports. Karnov was basically a FREAKSHOW the whole way through for arcade. At one point you are ascending steps and for each step you jump on another boss apears on the step. Its really rediculous. Starting with no power ups at each checkpoint was a hell of a puzzle to put together and finally beat. Some of these games get so insane you wonder if they were even tested. ha ha. Karnov for NES was moderate and alot more enjoyable. The arcade one is like a fat man trying to do bullet hell manuevers and squeeze between areas he cannot fit.
Not sure what he's using (maybe and everdrive or raspberry pi?), but you can just download a MAME emulator and then some arcade ROMs on your PC. I don't have anywhere near as many games as him, but I've got like 50 or so ROMs of my fav arcade classics
@STEAdYdropN Em I find most earlier games (80s and early 90s) work (at least with my version of MAME, which is fairly new, as I just downloaded it from the site this January) but not too many from the mid 90s and up.
im trying to find an arcade game i played in 88 or 89. it looks a bit like solomons quest, but on arcade, and its side scrolling, and when you went to save the maiden somewhere on a screen, she turned into an enemy. i have looked through tons of material but i cant find squat, does this ring a bell?
I don't know why I'm addicted to watching these retro games but what are the three hearts four on the Cowboy game if you can't use them imagine the kid at the arcade spinning quarters away
Mike, I like the concept, but you need a better MAME setup. I suggest a more up to date version of MAME, (which will have less non-working games, less bugs, better sound support, and more games). I also suggest a better front end. One that shows the actual game titles, and not just the filenames. That would make it much easier to find games.
I had to laugh when Mike asked if OutRun was ported to anything. Nah.. Never happened. ;) Master System, Genesis, PC-8801, Atari ST, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, C=64, Game Gear, MSX, PC Engine, MS-DOS, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, ZX Spectrum, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch. The 3DS, and Switch games were done by M², run at 60fps, have new music tracks added, and are excellent. Especially the 3DS version, with stereoscopic 3D. It's also available as a playable arcade game in Yakuza 0, and Shenmue. As well as OutRun 2, as an unlockable game. The Genesis port is very good too.
powerstone is a 3d type4 fighting game where you can use object like in the die hard arcade game.. or wow i cant think of that arcade style game for dreamcast thats like diehard
My favorite arcade was as a kid Ninja Gaiden aka Shadow Warrior's that countinue screen was memorable the saw coming down on his chest if you didn't add another quarter
I have Outrun for the Master System, it's really good, and also have Outrun 2 for the original Xbox, which is amazingly good, but I don't have Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, which is even better.
Hey Mike. I'm trying to figure out the name of this one arcade game I saw as a kid. It was pretty awesome and fantastical. It was basically a side scroller, you play as an elf and you are armed with a crossbow when you start, you have the ability to get powerups, I really only remember that there were alot of Moons that were enemies. . .of all the games I want to see played through I cannot remember the name. 1996???
That driving game with the red car we always thought we had to take her to the beach or something that was our arcade game in our laundromat I can't believe you play that so much nostalgia
Hey Mike, have a question. If you and James still have the footage, which I'm sure you or James still has, would you guys ever consider uploading the full footage of your guys James & Mike Monday's series? Also are you guys ever going to sell physical copies of James and Mike Monday's? We need more Mike and Tony Tuesday's as well! Thanks Mike.
Is Mike playing this on Windows or a Raspberry Pi or something? I know he said it's a PVM monitor but what exactly is that? Just a monitor or windows, linux or what? Sorry, I'm an idiot.
I like this concept. It would be fun if you did this on a regular basis.
Yeah, he should do that and he can discover more games to play too!
100% agree! This is great content!
I usually do Arcade on Mame on Sunday’s
I’d watch it.
Josh Winter I'm discovering tons of great arcade games now. I'm addicted to Retroarch and Final burn Neo.

Mike's patience stat is like a -1.
Do you have Elevator Action II (otherwise known as Elevator Action Returns) somewhere in your archives?
Tubewings James and mike play elevator action
X-men , turtles and simpsons was my favorite arcade games ever, side scroller team up beat em ups, 1 quarter/token to continue and beat the whole game when you have people who want to keep going

Mike, here’s a few for you: UN Squadron, Carrirer Airwing, Battletoads, Magic Sword, Black Tiger, Alien Syndrome, Sunset Riders.
47:20 wait wtf who says "yeah maybe" to him?
The pizza port arcade at Disneyland had Spin Masters. That was one of my favorite things in the whole park.
I nearly choked on my cheesecake when I saw those babies heads on snow bros 2.
At 17:24 the music sounds like super Mario 2
Rastan looks like Volgar the Viking which is a PC game but it was one hit kill unless you picked up armor etc. Even the monster designs and Rastan's animation is the same with Volgar.

Bearwolf13 Loved Cadash, not sure if people know to much about it. Spent many quarters on it back in the day.👍

He's playing them on Retroarch.
I bought the pandora box arcade stick, just plug it into tv, it's awesome, just make sure you get an "official" H3 version ,

Where did you get all of these and what are you running them on?
He's using a Raspberry Pi with Retroarch on it.
@@masterlee1988 Thank You!!
"Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder", is another great arcade beatem up
How do I get a set up like that? It's so awesome!

You are playing Spinmaster, that is awesome and good to see OutRun
Love these "trying out" streams. Wouldn't mind seeing an A-Z arcade stream someday too! 😎
If you added GI Joe , I think it was every game at my bowling alley as a kid
Yeah he should play the GI Joe arcade game.
Jason Douglas ha ha crazy coincidence to see this! I just finished GI.JOE arcade on my raspberry pie arcade emulator yesterday!! Great classic!!
Insector X also saw a port to the Sega Genesis, but had a graphic overhaul with the cutsy style removed.
I like how the Batman game uses the actual music from the movie
im trying to find an arcade game i played in 88 or 89. it looks a bit like solomons quest, but on arcade, and its side scrolling, and when you went to save the maiden somewhere on a screen, she turned into an enemy. i have looked through tons of material but i cant find squat, does this ring a bell?
Do you also stream Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest
Timestamps for all the different games would be nice.
I came here to do it but someone added the list in the comments.
You should do Kid Chameleon. You did Fester’s Quest, and that’s at least 30% as frustrating.
shinobi was a pretty gun arcade game, as well as sun set riders and the super spy to a degree.
What rom software did you use
He used Retroarch to play these games.
Those beatem ups like xmen, metamorph, etc are awesome
I don't know why I'm addicted to watching these retro games but what are the three hearts four on the Cowboy game if you can't use them imagine the kid at the arcade spinning quarters away
"It's like Hot Rod" It's like Rick Allen from Def Leppard on New Year's Eve 1984.

Alien vs predator the arcade game was absolutely the greatest. I just started watching this stream, so I am hoping it is in it :)
I liked Aliens the arcade game too.
loved the AvP arcade game. it was fucking hard though lol
I had to laugh when Mike asked if OutRun was ported to anything. Nah.. Never happened. ;)

I think Spin Master also had a Neo Geo port.
I think James would really like that Batman game.
Arcade games could get incredibly strange
What was Mike playing all these games on his computer, Everdrive type device or what?
There's a Master System port of Dynamite Dux. As you'd expect it's pretty limited, but I still enjoy playing it.
Mike have you ever played jump bug? It’s a rare arcade only game. The first side scroller. Horizontal and vertical
powerstone is a 3d type4 fighting game where you can use object like in the die hard arcade game.. or wow i cant think of that arcade style game for dreamcast thats like diehard

Thumbs up for singing Frogger.. My daughter's favorite Atari game.
Hey mike theyre putting sapphire on the pc engine mini and turbo grapfx mini
That's one of the many reasons I want to get that.

X Men, The Simpsons, Final Fight and E Type are great arcade games. Metal Slug X and Donkey Kong too.
R Type.
@@4thcoming Yep. He played Metal Slug X so he should do the other Metal Slug games, and as for R-Type he should do R-Type 2.
Can I get this emulator and ROM sets for pc and if so what is it called thanks
The emulator is called Retroarch.
@@masterlee1988 thanks I'll look it up appreciated pal
@@Toastandtea682 No problem, and I use it too, such an awesome emulator as well.
Play "Prehistoric isle 2". It's a horizontal shooter with dinosaurs.

what are you playing on?
He's playing on a Raspberry Pi using the emulator Retroarch.

I assume that the arcade version's would all be a little harder . so they could be quarter eaters !!
Yep, arcade versions are known to be harder overall for the most part which is why they are designed that way.
Mike, next time you should try out Midnight Mutant. A really weird game which also is very hard
DYNAMITE COP!!! PLAY IT. thats the diehard jawn i was speaking of
Wheres my dam james and mike Monday !!!!!!.......update...oh there it is thanks!
Playing Arcades with more people is allot of fun.
Like an allotment?
"Did KFC pay for this or something?" Well, it says Kentucky Friend Chicken, so I would say no.
If you think of KFC, I have to watch “A Recipe for Seduction” with Mario Lopez as Colonel Sanders.
Thank you for shopping at 7 eleven .
Sengoku 3 is a great beat um up i found on mame.
Yeah I like that game a lot too.
Mike i just watched your other video saying you need to play the glob and what it is this first game on here my good fellow man??? Lmao
It's too bad there's no time stamps.
WHO had six friends IRL nowadays?? 🤣
Mike, drink Kool-Aid while you play!
You need a better frontend, rather than just scrolling through all the files in RetroArch and trying to guess the ROM names of the games.
yeah i know
I definitely played Rastan at a Shakey's pizza
I need to do a full stream of it.
Mike has no idea how popluar The Colonel is in Japan.
You gotta play Boogiewing
It doesn't look like MAME. What program is he using for this, it actually looks pretty solid.
Retroarch, a multi-emulator using different cores including MAME and Final Burn Alpha for arcade games. I've got it for PC and my hacked consoles.
He's using Retroarch, which is a great emulator.
@@davidgill7412 I even have it on some of my hacked systems too!
MIKE, YOU SHOULD PLAY WHIP RUSH FOR THE SEGA GENESIS. IT'S A TOUGH SHOOTER. AND I KNOW YOU LOVE PLAYING THOSE. YOU LOVE THE TORTURE LOL.
One thing I really hate about mame no search option to type in game your looking for
Theres a secret code for Dynamite Dux for next time that shows the princess character to be nude, and adds a bunch of R rated content, I believe Mike.
Also, UN Squadron or Sunset Riders.
Killer Instinct... wat.
Nice
Play Metamorphic Force arcade game.
