I am german and I grew up with Powermetal... all my favourite bands are in this video! Grave Digger, Rage, Running Wild, and the best of all of them... BLIND GUARDIAN! Seriously, check out their live performance from Wacken, where they performed both their ballad "The Bards Song" and then, "Valhalla" !!! Also, I just noticed... the Rage part also has Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian as guest singer!
Kai Hansen (guitarist and composer) created Helloween, then left and created Gamma ray, then created Iron Savior as side project, then created Unisonic with Michael Kiske (second Helloween singer) ; the second and third Helloween album were such masterpieces they influenced many other bands
Welcome to the world of power metal. There are A LOT of bands for you to discover from all around the world. Ever since Helloween released Keeper of teh Seven Keys Part I back in '87 I've been a huge fan of the genre.
Orden Ogan is Epic as fuck and if you like classical Music then checkout Haggard, they are a german Band that mixes classical with metal and its awesome. in my opinion, Asis, the mastermind behind Haggard is a genius
You might like Saltatio Mortis and Future Palace. Those were, next to Lordi and Orden Ogan, the Acts at the Metal Hammer Award 2024 in Berlin. Nice music. And I'm a big Fan of the Scorpions and Subway to Sally.
True! Some german Power-Metal-Bands sound a bit "rock-n-rollish", but that's because some bands/songs showed in the video are really old: For example "Helloween" -> the band was founded back in 1984! So, 40 years ago and that's why they are aka. "Fathers of Power Metal"... it's kind of "old school" metal, where it all started. Good news: the band is still around and their next album will be released in spring 2025 *yeah So are the most other bands! I listened a lot of their music when I was teenager ... quite a time ago, as I am already age 40+.
Powerwolf is probably my general favourite because they have a lot of good songs. Blind Guardian will always have a special place in my heart. They have some great songs, but sadly for my personal taste the great songs are just a few sprinkled across multiple albums. But "The Bard's Song (In the forest)" by Blind Guardian is an absolute masterpiece. So well balanced. If you are sad, it lifts you up. If you are upset, it calms you down. If you are in a good mood you just sing along and enjoy.
If you like blind guardian check this from 2024, (one of the best vidios of the year): saltatio mortis & blind guardian : finsterwacht ( deutsch, better lyrics) or darkenguard (english 😊)
Grave Digger and Running Wild are 2 really great german metal bands, I grew up with, but they are not power metal in my eyes! I would describe them as classic heavy metal.
Halloween, gamma ray, edguy, avantasia, unisonic.. its one family - Kiske, Hansen, Sammet. Unisonic an Halloween ist the same Singer.. so Edguy and Avantasia and the singer of gamma ray ist the guitarist of Halloween an unisonic ;-) All liiving together
I don't understand you saying the singers have "rock" voice, bands like U2, Simple minds, Pink Floyd, Linkin park, Green day, sure have good voices, but power and heavy metal singers have a much wider range and breath control, and don't sound much like rock

Destruction and Risk. There it started. In my Opinion. I still like it.
Helloween is a Pioneer of Power Metal. The Singer from Gamma Ray and Unisonic are both in the Band Helloween as Singers.
Kai Hansen from Gamma Ray and Michael Kiske from Unisonic.
04:40 Running Wild subgenre "Pirat metal" Yes fvorite because my first drumming song was "Running Wild" "Ice " Land of Ice "

The first 2 Longplayer from Rage are Speed Metal. Reign of Fear and Perfect Man.
Helloween for me ist the German Iron Maiden. It´s Metal i n its Best.
Try Feuerschwanz and Saltatio Mortis... 🙂
