I had the same dish as you Alex, but they've upped their plating game significantly - still delicious though! My wife had the Beef Tripe soup and it was even better than the goulash! Oh man! Poland seems wonderful! I’m a sucker for pinball and play loads in my town. However, I’ve tried many times to get friends to attend a free play arcade but it’s just not everyone’s thing. I'm glad Poland is veg friendly! I was there in 2009 and found it incredibly difficult to eat. Had a conversation at a restaurant about how chicken was their vegetarian option. Good thing about travelling with a meat eater is you can swap meal bits and veggie pieces.
Yes, it was a huge surprise tbh but it was extremely veggie friendly. I guess with the boom of tourism in the last 10 years, it is becoming easier and easier :)
Both vegan and vegetarian are becoming popular lately so there is a boom of products and restaurants of such variety in bigger cities so it's ideal for tourists.
Those potato pancakes with goulash are my favorite comfort food too. It's often called "placki po węgiersku" (i.e. "Hungarian pancakes") or "placki po zbójnicku" ("thug pancakes?"). And that goulash was for sure pork, at least that's how it should be.
You mentioned one of my absolute favourite dishes :) The other version of potato pancakes I love comes with salmon and yoghurt garlic herbal sauce. Try it some day.
Gulasz have hungarian origins, but it is also popular in Poland. Maybe that is why they didnt mention that. And it is great with this potato pancakes. I love it too.

It's easy to be vegetarian/vegan in Poland because of Catholicism - yeah. Due to religious rule Poles avoid meat (except fish) on Fridays - so there is always plenty of vegetarian and vegan options around (and for all week cuz restaurants don't want to make a special menu for one day of the week).
