Ronnie Lane was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and died in Colorado U.S.A in 1997. His medical care was funded by Jimmy Page, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood.
He has always been one of my favourite musicians. He was one of the first people to combine country/rock. There is great feeling and Joy in his songs. RIP Ronnie.

*among others.* Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones, Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey, and the Glimmer Twins were all reported to have chipped in.

Ronnie didnt have the ego to chase stardom. He just wanted to make music and get a living from doing so. Forget Wembley Stadium and all those other overblown gigs - he was happy playing in a tent to a crowd of 200 (and would have done so, in numerous places, if pettifogging local authorities hadnt kept interfering). And Slim Chance shared with McGuinness Flint and Lindisfarne a happy-go-lucky anything-goes attitude to their music that makes all three among my favourite acts of all time.
