    I grew up in a railway house in Ballarat East,my family lived there from the 1880's until it was demolished in 1986 to widen the line. My family held the record for most members of one family employed by VR at the one time. My brother in law is still station master at Ballarat. So many trains , single head lights coming in the distance , the hum of the line , good old days.

      Yes it was busy back then. Nothing today compares.

    This gives me an idea to record here, lots of trains pass here. Maybe I should visit Ballarat and take a look at the station. By now, the line to Ballarat is on maintenance till 30th of January.

      It's worth a visit but most of the freights run after dark these days.

    The first time I've seen four 'G' class locos on a train!!!

      It's pretty rare and even rarer through Ballarat!

    I lived at the base of King St bridge , there use to be three lines , one headed off to the eureka stockade .

      I remember the Eureka line. There was a Caltex petrol depot there with a track for the rail oil tanker.

    Nice work. It is probably appropriate to describe the "Wendouree Branch as also being the line to Ararat.

      +Karen Campbell I'll add that to the description. I plan on doing a current to version of parts of 4th the Ararat line as well.

    How often to grain trains pass through Ballarat?

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very rarely these days. The odd grain train to PN Boort and SSR somewhere further north. Maybe two a month if your lucky.

      Now the Broad Gauge signals are up and running again at the Geelong Grain Loop, expect to see more frequent activity.

    Didn't realise the third line out at Ballarat East was still there, thought it was all ripped up and gone.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EdarusStarcraft It doesn't evenn run as far as the Queen St Bridge but at least it's still there. I remember when the track went into the old petrol facility and the facility still had petrol wagons on rails.

    • @EdarusStarcraft
      @EdarusStarcraft 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn't THAT long ago that there was a bunch of old engines around the turntable near there too haha

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Brad. Now we just need one from Bendigo.

    • @Greensleeves94
      @Greensleeves94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been thinking of doing something like that for a while now actually. It'd only have passes in it with the distinct lack of freight through Bendigo

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've also got plenty of light engine movements and a few freights that you upload. I think a show on Bendigo would be great.
