It could be. If you are a single filing taxpayer, then you get a standard deduction of $12,550 for the 2021 tax year. After you subtract your standard deduction from your total income of $14,536, you are left with some remaining taxable income, which will be subject to tax at the marginal tax rates in those brackets. You'll get a tax refund for the excess.
That’s terrible. If it’s been more than three months and you haven’t gotten an update from the IRS, then it is time to start calling the IRS to speak with a representative
I am a single male who filed online through TurboTax on January 21 (didn’t file for EITC or child). Still haven’t received anything yet…it keeps saying pending.
If you had neither the EITC or ACTC, then the delay could be related to a different error on your return. The IRS will hold returns if they are missing a required schedule or form, there is an error on the return (such as you didn't report all your income), or the IRS thinks the return was filed by someone who stole your identity. Unfortunately, all you can do is just wait until they update the Where's my Refund portal so you have more info. I know it's frustrating, but the IRS systems are just terrible.

Nothing. And I check my transcripts all the time. Wmr says “it is being processed” doesn’t give any tax topics. Sounds like everything is good it’s just taking forever to update 846
Yes, this is a common issue. The return shows as accepted which simply means the IRS received it, and it passed the initial verification checks. The return has to next move into the processing phase, where the IRS reviews for errors (if any), and then ultimately releases the refund check
If you accidentally entered that you didn't receive your 3rd stimulus payment, when in fact you did, then the IRS system should automatically flag the error and adjust your refund down by the $1,400.
Filled on 2/21, and it said it had been received; then I checked it today 3/19/22 and my refund status bar disappeared....where is My money... and how long will it take to get here?!

I filed January 20th got accepted January 21st I have both eitc and ctc credits also dependents on my taxes I got randomly picked this year to verify my identity with the irs I did that a week ago I’m hoping I get my refund soon any thoughts ?
The EITC and CTC were definitely the reason for the delayed processing because of the PATH Act. If your identity has been verified, then the refunds should be released this week.
What does this mean PrimaryClaimAsDependentInd` is not checked and `TotalBoxesCheckedCnt` does not have a value and `MustItemizeInd` is not checked and `modifiedStandardDeductionInd` does not have a value and Schedule A (Form 1040) is not present in the return, then Form 1040, `TotalItemizedOrStandardDedAmt` must equal 18800.
It sounds like you have a lot of e-file rejection errors here, so it is difficult to answer this in the abstract without seeing the tax return. I would recommend hiring a tax professional to prepare your Form 1040, or contact the help desk with whatever tax preparation software you are using.
@@JasonDKnottI did them myself after looking at my taxes I notice that I selected head of household then where it says standard deduction I selected the single which I was suppose to select head of household. For anyone who filed early or even before the middle of Feb, here's the deal. Early filed returns ended up errors due to the IRS updating their systems when we filed. This is an error on behalf of the IRS , not us early filers. Batches of these returns have just been put back into the systems recently, like mine for instance, which was reprocessed yesterday starting over the 3 week cycle before approval and hopefully seeing the DD in my account provided there be no issues with the refund itself. The IRS rep said that I could see the DD by the beginning of April. For any of you facing this issue, wondering what's been going on with your return, im willing to bet this is why and if you don't have the time to call the IRS, just keep an eye of your bank accounts or mail for any notices that may come through while these returns are reprocessed. Keep in mind, many have had to verify their ID through the IRS website or have even had reduced (or sometimes increased) refund amounts, causing further delay.. With many already receiving their funds, the phone lines should lighten up if you do want to call between 6pm and 7pm weekdays. This is the best time to call according to the rep I spoke to. I wish you all well and hope you receive the funds you and your family are expecting.
filed on the 26th accepted on the 26th, stuck waiting after seeing that weekly my trancript is suppose to update but then it just doesnt havent heard shit from the irs cant get through to them this is depressing.
Yes, unfortunately many taxpayers are in your same position. Once a tax return is electronically filed, it is generally accepted by the IRS within 1 to 2 business days. However, the return must now enter the review stage, which could take anywhere from 1 week to several months. Once the return is through the review stage and accepted, only then will a refund be processed and issued to the taxpayer.
If you had the the CTC or EITC on your tax return, that is definitely the reason for the delay. If you did not claim either of those credits, then the delay could be attributed to some other error with your tax return.
Just for clarification.. I filed on Feb 17 and accepted immediately after. But of course the bar hasn't moved, transcript still N/A and I have topic 152 as well. When you say ;" Accepted" Does that mean the email you get from wherever you file that says you've been accepted or accepted/approved from the WMR status bar? I've been confused from different websites saying the dates are valid from when the IRS approves your refund and not when they accept your e-file. Thanks for all that you do.
So I file February 17th and I was accepted on February 17th and so when I go to IRS to go it still saying the same thing as yours say my boy have not moved I do have the topic 152 but yeah I'm confused also so I just checked the app everyday twice a day just to see
If the return included an EITC or CTC, then it was likely on hold until March 1. So you should expect it next week. If it was being held for review for another reason, then it may take more time for the IRS to clear and process the return.
If you had the EITC or CTC, your tax return will show as filed and accepted, but not processed with a refund released until that PATH act timeline expired. Now that it has expired, refunds will start to be released first week of March.
@@JasonDKnott ok back to this comment 😂I got charged for 110 this morning for nys state does this mean I’ll be getting my federal sometime today or would I wait longer???
When your return is initially filed and accepted, it means it passed the initial verification procedures. This usually only takes 1 business day. Once it enters review status, the IRS is reviewing the return to make sure the information reported is accurate and there are no issues. Once the review process is completed, the return is finalized and your refund is issued.
Yes that is likely the issue, or it could be the EITC if you claimed that as well. EITC claims are very frequently flagged, particularly if you are self employed and attach a Schedule C to your return.
If the IRS' Where's My Refund still shows no updates, then you need to call the IRS and get a status update. Lot's of returns are delayed because the IRS needs more information from the taxpayer.
If you paper filed your 2020 tax return, there is a good chance it is still in the processing queue. The IRS still had 6 million unprocessed returns from prior year in Jan 2022
Wow we have the same last name. Never seen it before it's normally Knox or Knotts or Knot. Never know cousins maybe. But I'm black so we know what that mean.
If the DD was set for today and nothing arrives, you can wait one more business day to see if it clears. The IRS then recommends that you contact the bank and see if the bank can trace the incoming payment.
It's either related to the CTC or EITC hold, or there is potentially a different issue with your tax return. Most returns were held up because of the PATH act, but the refunds are starting to process first week of March
My mom had got $967 but the rest of the money was held I got a letter saying she need proof that she’s the grandmother of my kids so we sent in school records and birth certificate to prove blood related but I’m confused y they sent $967 and hold the rest instead holding all of it
If she was trying to claim the children as her dependents, the IRS is likely holding back the part of the refund attributed to the child tax credit. They want to verify the relationship and residency requirements which are necessary for the credit. Children must live with the grandparent for more than 1/2 of the year.
The baseline rule is 6 weeks from the date the return was electronically filed and accepted. If you are still waiting beyond 6 weeks, then it is time to contact the IRS and speak with a live person.

I've been confused from different websites saying the dates are valid from when the IRS approves your refund and not when they accept your e-file. Thanks for all that you do.
It’s 21 days from when accepted
So I file February 17th and I was accepted on February 17th and so when I go to IRS to go it still saying the same thing as yours say my boy have not moved I do have the topic 152 but yeah I'm confused also so I just checked the app everyday twice a day just to see
I did my taxes the same day 2/17 and my transcript still says n/a. Its frustrating 😒
I filled the feb 9 got accepted on the 11 now I’m delayed how long I got wait for this problem
mine was excepted on Feb 8th How come I don't have a date yet and it says my taxes are delayed??? Is it because I have the. Child tax credit??
Same I filed on the 6th I got the state after 1 week but I’m still waiting on the federal
@@precilianoperea6818 It was same for me.. did you claim.child tax credit?
I did my February 6 22 when should I get my taxes
If the return included an EITC or CTC, then it was likely on hold until March 1. So you should expect it next week. If it was being held for review for another reason, then it may take more time for the IRS to clear and process the return.
Just go except all year then pay your taxes all at once and if the IRS keeps trying to contact you reply saying I am processing your refund😂🤣👍
Haha that would be great. Give them a taste of their own medicine...
...everybody's a comedian
I filed on the 30th of last month and still haven't gotten anything
If you had the EITC or CTC, your tax return will show as filed and accepted, but not processed with a refund released until that PATH act timeline expired. Now that it has expired, refunds will start to be released first week of March.
Kierah call me if you need help financially
love all the new updates lol but mine got accepted the 28th
When you file
@@msmitchell3837 the 28th of janurary still didnt get anything but that topic 152
I just file. Rejected me about 6 times. All because the State didnt pick up my daughter other last night. I was going by what her ssc said.
@Ty you are one of the lucky ones!!
@@JasonDKnott ok back to this comment 😂I got charged for 110 this morning for nys state does this mean I’ll be getting my federal sometime today or would I wait longer???
What does it mean it's being reviewed
When your return is initially filed and accepted, it means it passed the initial verification procedures. This usually only takes 1 business day. Once it enters review status, the IRS is reviewing the return to make sure the information reported is accurate and there are no issues. Once the review process is completed, the return is finalized and your refund is issued.
Ok are student loans being kept or are they in freeze till may 2022?
My taxes are in a 90 day review. I’m guessing because of the CTC does anyone have into on this ??
Yes that is likely the issue, or it could be the EITC if you claimed that as well. EITC claims are very frequently flagged, particularly if you are self employed and attach a Schedule C to your return.
How do you know if you're taxes are in a 90 day review is it something they send you ?
i filed on march 6th and still havent gotten my return
If the IRS' Where's My Refund still shows no updates, then you need to call the IRS and get a status update. Lot's of returns are delayed because the IRS needs more information from the taxpayer.
I have 3 months and nothing yet!
That's awful! The IRS is certainly taking their sweet time releasing refunds this year....
My due date was 2/18 thru turbo tax and I still ain’t got nothing
152 topic message when I try to track it
@@kattyhernadez7892 yoooo stop spamming on every comment . Shits annoying
I never received my 2020 tax return. 🤷♀️
If you paper filed your 2020 tax return, there is a good chance it is still in the processing queue. The IRS still had 6 million unprocessed returns from prior year in Jan 2022
accepted jan24 via turbotax, qualified for RRC , 30 days and nothing, 152 topic a refund date will be provided when available
Same!
Yea my dd was for today and still nothing on another note @Anabel your gorgeous
@@marquinnbryson6555 thank you. Hopefully we all get our money soon.
Anytime and yes hopfully we do keep me posted and ill do the same
SAME
Wow we have the same last name. Never seen it before it's normally Knox or Knotts or Knot. Never know cousins maybe. But I'm black so we know what that mean.
Yes! Not too many Knott's out there. Thanks for watching!
I have a DD date for today and still nothing anybody else have this problem?
Me 2
If the DD was set for today and nothing arrives, you can wait one more business day to see if it clears. The IRS then recommends that you contact the bank and see if the bank can trace the incoming payment.
@@JasonDKnott I appreciate it thanks for the heads-up.
I have a question irs delay and said sorry and did my February 6 22
I got my state refund today but still waiting on fed. I filed on Feb 2nd
I got my state in early February and still haven't gotten Federal yet.
Turbo tax?
@@tyquanwilliams4259 H&R
I filled since mid January and still says delayed?
It's either related to the CTC or EITC hold, or there is potentially a different issue with your tax return. Most returns were held up because of the PATH act, but the refunds are starting to process first week of March
@@JasonDKnott awesome thanks for the info I did have a new born ☺️
Mike was accepted on 1/27
I did mine on 1/24 so idk when im getting my refund
Was accepted 2/7 and still havent gotten a date
same 🤦🏽♂️
My mom had got $967 but the rest of the money was held I got a letter saying she need proof that she’s the grandmother of my kids so we sent in school records and birth certificate to prove blood related but I’m confused y they sent $967 and hold the rest instead holding all of it
If she was trying to claim the children as her dependents, the IRS is likely holding back the part of the refund attributed to the child tax credit. They want to verify the relationship and residency requirements which are necessary for the credit. Children must live with the grandparent for more than 1/2 of the year.
@@JasonDKnott I can't get mine its been 3 weeks
@@kattyhernadez7892 how is that done
I still haven't received my taxes
The baseline rule is 6 weeks from the date the return was electronically filed and accepted. If you are still waiting beyond 6 weeks, then it is time to contact the IRS and speak with a live person.
The son from ozark
😭
Anybody filed their taxes and used cash app direct deposit to get their money ????!
Like I used cash app as my bank
You gotta claim it on next year's taxes using cash app
