The embodiment of the western American spirit .............the Mozart of country music is Willie Nelson ..........seldom does a person like this come along !
Really ... and honestly ... there is Willie Nelson ... and then everyone else!!! I am there right now ... and it's freaking amazing!!!
Willie looks great and sounds even better in this Austin City Limits from 1976, trigger just has a small hole in it at this point lol. Love the piano over the top from the 2min mark. Such a good song, one of Willie's best.
Sitting here. Feeling like crap. Everything seems to go wrong lately. But I can count on Wiilie and his songs to bring me comfort and peace! I so love this song. One of the many.

The sentiment is beautifully stated. I remember when I first heard this song 1974 or 1975 - on my back on the floor listening and crying. I still have to stop the tears.
Ive been partial to this song since i was a little boy, as my parents would sing this as a duet. Daddy would play the Autoharp, momma sang alto, dad baritone and their voices harmonized so well together. Now their both in their 80's and cant sing anymore for Momma has Spasmodic Dysphonia (voice tremors) so only the memories remain yet through the ages i will always remember.
That hole in his guitar grew with his hair and beard. I loved it when this man would wander into Floore's Country Store just because he wanted to "air it out" musically. We would all be two-stepping or drinking beer and in he would walk, sometimes with his whole band, so he could work out some new material. Of course, it turned into a jam session with the band hired to play that night, and he would play all his classics, but back then they weren't really classic, yet. Willie Nelson is a kind person and very giving, as evidenced by his simply wanting to play for free on a regular basis. He loves his fans. He loves pretty much anyone, even if you disagree with him. He is a gentle soul, and I wish more humans were like him. I loved growing up in San Antonio and being a part of the very laid back social setting that predominates there.
#Holton345 I have seen Willie in concert on the patio at Flores at least three times. The place is small so of course it is always standing room only. Each time I saw some familiar faces standing there in front of the stage with me. I remember a young woman in particular because she had a very colorful tattoo of an owl on her chest. One time pre concert a very talkative man who said that he was a math teacher at the Nothside ISD was the first to light up a joint. Another time it rained for about an hour during the concert but Willie never skipped a beat. 😍 Love that Willie!
Last year in Wichita I made my kids go see Willie in concert at our River fest - they were blown away at an 89 year old man on on stage and singing songs that Everyone knew and loved - I hope that helps pass this music on forever ….or at least another 100 years ….😢
I'm never get tired of Willie Nelson singing his beautifiul song. Reminds me of my maternal beautifiul Grandmother Anderson. She had the most beautiful sky blue eyes 💙💙💙. Thank you Willie Nelson.
This song is heartbreaking for me as I lost my husband just a couple of years ago after 50 years of marriage. However when Wilĺiie sings the last verse I know there is happiness waiting. ❤
My Sydney band opened for The Highwaymen across Australia in 1991. Willie was as cool as they come, as were the rest of them. A very memorable two weeks.

Man.....if I had a dollar for every time my parents listened to this when I was a kid....but the funny thing is, I actually love this song now....and when I was about 15 I really got into the album he did called Stardust.... absolutely beautiful!!! Maybe the black hash helped....

Seine Interpretation geht tief zu Herzen, bewegt so sehr und lässt mich träumen..❤ Es ist sein Lied bzw er hat es fantastisch gecovert, aber es ist seine Geschichte , deshalb diese Emotion. Und weil er es kann!
I was listening to this song the other day & the part that says “When we kissed goodbye & parted, I knew we’d never meet again” had me in tears, because that’s what happened when I went to see my father in law who was very sick. I kissed him goodbye & the next day he was gone 😭💔
Is it ok to cry every time I hear this song? I'm 67 years old. Brings back memories of the only girl I ever loved back in 1977. Miss you Debbie.
And people ACTUALLY say men aren't emotional! I have known many to carry a torch until it burns their hand to a charred, unrecognizable stump.
Of course it's ok to cry, especially if the song touches the heart
It's okay to show and feel anyway The song makes you feel that's sincerity and that's what real country is its why they sing and write the songs that's also why it's very hard to find these day best wishes
It’s OK to cry ANY TIME……. But I’m pretty sure it’s a natural thing with Willie

Dad and I sang this every weekend, dads gone now but I still sing it every Sunday in his memory. Miss you dad.
I can’t believe Willie is still alive in his 90s.
It’s going to be a very sad time when he goes. ❤
