Amazing!!! Finally a DYI with some actual at home shit and not the fancy tools everyone elses uses. Very Dope!
Thank you!
Well done, on the whole Couple of pro-tips. It's way easier to get an aluminum turkey pan - big basting pan from the dollar store, throw in your pipe, flanges, tees, etc. and let them soak in mineral spirits/varnish for 5 mins. Give them a good scrub with the rough side of a sponge or steel wool. Dry them with a rag. Don't use paste. Use a spray on primer with rust inhibitors - e.g. Rustoleum or Temclad - 2 coats. Then 2 coats of spray on Rustoleum/Tremclad in whatever color and gloss you like. Pipes will stay clean and won't rust that way.
Brilliant!! Thanks!
Exactly what I needed. Im so glad that i have discovered you, this channel. Single mum here and like to do stuff on my own. Project complete!
I really like the shelving unit. Great job!
Exactly what I was looking for! This is perfect for an entertainment system in my son’s room. Great video! Thanks!
Same thought for my living room!
So glad you found this helpful! Please remember to anchor it to the wall!
Just found this, 5 years later. Great video!

This is a really great idea. I cant wait to tackle this project.
Yes! I want to see it when you're done!
I just saw all of your videos in under an hour, and now I'm slightly upset that there are no more videos. Pretty please make more!! So easy to follow. You're brilliant!
TheStitchCat Thank you so much! Working on it now! 😁
Love the work you did on the curtain.
This was the MOST fun DIY video I have probably ever seen!!! I intend on using this info to make shelving in my kitchen. you rock.. onto more videos!
Thank you! I'd love to see your kitchen shelves when they are done!
Subscribed because of your positive personality. Keep being yourself
Very informative and captivating video, thank you! A real diy video
Excelent how to ....love this and will be doing some of these in my remodel!
I like you energy. I have an old IKEA book shelf that’s circling the drain. I was going to haul it to the garage and paint it, but it’s not sturdy. I like how you varied the height to surround your window. The gray stain was unexpected but it works in your space and I’ll bet will be a color you’ll like for a long time to come. I’m gonna give it a shot. Thank you.
Great video Laurie. I am ordering pipes, flanges and wood now to make a stereo/tv stand with custom openings for my stereo components. Enjoy your new office.
I love it OMG just what i am looking for and i love your style i was entertained the whole way thru the video. Thank you
Thank you!

I love it
amazing marking wood dest
Omg. love this ! 5:17
Thank you.
I'm planning on something like this for one of my closets. I like the rustic look. Much cheaper, too.
I'd love to see pics when you're done!
Awesome
With the stickers, you can use a heat gun/hair dryer and it will soften the adhesive!
Excelente
Thank you!
You just saved me $600. Did this back in 1981 with cinderblocks instead of pipe, total cost $17.🛠🔩🔧✔
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Очень хорошо ! Класс !
Thank you!
Good project, and very fany celebration
Thanks! We fancy! ;-)
I would definitely consider anchoring that to the wall. At the height yours is it would be a good idea, if you built it any higher at all I would say it's a necessity.
Brandon Schilling Thanks for the tip!
Love this, thank you. Also love the wooden sofa on your website but you didn't add the instructions. I really want to make that one! I can't work out how the seat is attached to the sides, lol. It's beautiful.
Thank you! I guess I need to get on top of this stuff. I love how the outdoor sofa turned out too! I just used some construction grade L-brackets and 2x4's for the seat and back braces, and a futon mattress with an outdoor cover for the cushion! I would advise that you construct it on site. That thing is a beast to try to move!
@@laurieshultz7052 thank you. 🙂
Шикарно!
Thank you!
Love your sense of humor lol do you have a video on the lamp made out of pipe? great build by the way
I don't! I've definitely been slacking lately!
Girl you got it going on.
Thank you!
Laurie Shultz no thank you! Keep up the good work hard work!
Nice one lady, just like both of your son's "Hesitatingly" dance !!!
Please do more videos!!
Hania calleS I’m working on it! 😁
Thank you so much for an awesome video. I can definitely start with that. Since I'd like to be a le to DIY some stuff at my house.
Quick question for you tho: what type of stain did you use?
Thanks for watching Ben! The stain that I'm using is a mix of three Sherwin Williams Wood Classics stains. 4 parts pecan, 1 part winter white, and 1 part beechwood. I hope your projects go well!
Did something similar using smaller 1/2" pipe; however, I protected my blk pipe w/several coats of satin clear lacquer... Probably took longer to dry so I'll try the wax method next time.
Thanks for watching! Let me know how the two methods compare!
Great video Laurie! But, I'm with some of the other people... my back was killing me watching you do all that work on the floor. But, hey... that's about me and my bad back! Oh... and wearing flip flops... yikes! My toes were flinching the whole time. :-) I was wondering why you need to protect all the piping. I am in the process of doing research to try to design a desk for my husband and hadn't seen that step during my research. Thanks again for a very informative video!!
Thanks for watching, Joan! The idea behind the whole process with the pipes is first to clean all of the gunk off of them and then to protect them from rusting. Some people prefer the aesthetics of letting them rust, so it's really whatever you prefer!
I don't know about a fraction of the price of store bought shelving, but it is certainly better quality. Those floor flanges alone are $5 a pc at Lowe's.... Love the Shelving btw... :)
True, comparable quality should have been taken into account with that statement! I think that this type of hardware can be found online for cheaper if it's not plumbing grade. I'll see if I can find a link! Thanks for the feedback!
A lot of times they're cheaper when you buy them in 'contractor packs.'
🔥
Very freudian! Excellent video like the way was explained and shown.
Glad you liked it!
Ugh. I get the low cost but... invest 30 bucks in a pair of harbor freight sawhorses... my poor knees hurt just watching you!
Nice work. :D
So sorry for the knee pain that I caused you! LOL!
You'll be happy to know I have since purchased some sawhorses/tables :)
❤️
I enjoyed this video. I let out a laugh when she mentioned nice and smooth in the same sentence as 120 grit
"because, NIPPLES" Girl i LOVE YOU... hahahaah
Thanks! :-)
So awesome!!!! Curious to how much it cost you. Thinking about making myself one but with caster wheels at the bottom
It has been awhile since I made this, but I would estimate that it cost around $350. The hardware that I used was from Home Depot and it was actual plumbing pipe fittings. I have since discovered that Amazon carries some decorative hardware that looks just as awesome, but costs much much less! Definitely something to look into!
Awesome! Where did you get stand used for the computer monitor?
Thanks for watching! I bought it on Amazon, of course! :)
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You had me at NIPPLES! @1:02 😂😂😂
Haha! Glad you enjoyed!
Very cute family
Thanks! I'm pretty fond of them! :-)
Where did you get the basket things on the bottom shelf?! If you made them... Please show how
Hi! Thanks for the question! I purchased the outer bins on the bottom shelf from the At Home store. The bins that are closer to the middle are actually file storage boxes from Target. You can check out my blog for more information on the decorations! laurie-shultz.com/2017/11/diy-wood-and-pipe-shelving-unit/
super sache
👏👏👏
Thank you!
very good video with a great shelving idea thank you, oh and the comedy was to die for lol enjoyed it for real . i am curious thought as to why you aren't making videos for so long,i know it's not my business but you have the appeal and personality it seems to have a very good youtube channel. all the best hope to see more soon.
Thank you so much! Life has been busy!!! I've been working on a bed for my son, almost done! Keep an eye out, it'll be my next video!
How you attach that still pipe in your computer ?
It's actually a monitor stand! You can get it on Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Can you use a 2 x 10 and have the same stability? I just wanted to throw that out there to anyone as i am limited for space.
Hi did you tap and die the pipes
As soon as you said nipples I really wanted to laugh 😂 but I thought no grow up Jon but then you said it nipples ha 😂 really awesome job I love making new stuff I have loads of new projects to start
Fit momma
Thanks!
hahahaha funny and great family ;
🔥TY🙏
why do you have to protect the pipes? what would happen if i didnt
any recommendation on where to get flanges and nipples?! flanges are about $6.50 / piece at home depot !!
Cool video. Cost of materials?
Thanks! I think I paid around $350, but I used plumbing grade pipe fittings. You can find decorative fittings on Amazon for much cheaper!
você é muito linda ....
Thank you!
wow, runs a saw and make dinner.....lol, cool dog
great idea as all but the cost of the flanges alone makes this project extra expensive
I get it! Have you checked out Amazon? I recently discovered that they have decorative pipe fittings for a fraction of the cost of the plumbing grade ones!
@@laurieshultz7052 thanks, I hope shipping not kill me!
not to pick nits, but a 2x12 is actually 1 1/2" x 11 1/4"
True story! :-)
Do you know the cost break down
Hi Earl! I believe this cost me around $350. I think about $80 in lumber and the rest in pipe fittings. I have since discovered that you can buy some decorative pipe fittings at a fraction of the cost on Amazon. If I had to do it again, I would definitely go that route!
You could have made this using much fewer floor flanges.
I always love new ideas! Want to elaborate?
Can this hold a 50 inch tv?
Hi! This would be sturdy enough to hold a television as long as you get the feet leveled properly. The space between the two top shelves would certainly be sufficient for a 50 inch television. The only variable here would be the depth of the television. This shelving unit is only slightly more than 11" deep. Hope this helps!
thank you so much!
Why have you not posted more videos???
Angela Ochoa So busy!! Working on it though, I promise!!!
👍❤️❤️❤️👌🙏😍 G.B
