I rescued 2 feral cats this winter. Too many cats need homes. Cost a small fortune but definitely worth it. The older one I rescued was very old. Ornery lol but she ended up being deaf. Now she’s the Queen of the House and we love her. So glad she found us. Wish I could save them all ❤❤❤

Yet Someone took my cat while I was homeless and she was on private property and had a collar with her name and phone number on it. I'm so angry and heartbroken 😭. Been searching for her since February with no luck

I wish more people would spay/neuter their pets. My neighborhood is overrun with stray animals and our small town doesn’t have a trap/spay/release program or a humane society 😿

Many years ago I tamed a feral half grown bush tabby cat.
She became a very affectionate gal and lived for 23 years.
She would not associate with other people, but she was friendly toward my other 2 cats I had at the time. (My other cats passed away at 17 and 19.)
    She had striking tabby markings.
A lot of people said I should have put her in a cat show, but I never did because she would have been terrified of being in a cage all day.
I now have 5 beautiful cats who were rescued and are brothers and sisters, 4 aged 7 this year, and 1 aged 4.

I'm in the UK. Sadly i wasnt able to adopt. I wanted to, i really tried, I'm an experienced cat owner and a few months after my 3rd cat passed (at 20 years old) i tried to adopt. But because i live in a flat and couldn't guarantee the cat would have outdoor access, i kept getting turned down in favour of people who had bigger houses and gardens. It was soul destroying. So i eventually needed to buy a kitten if i wanted to have companionship, but i was sensible about it and the lady i bought the kitten from was great, even tho the litter was unplanned and the cats simple moggies, the owner behaved the way you would expect a proper breeder to behave, i had any time access to the kitten, met the family a few times, saw how the kittens were raised and saw how well cared for the mum was. My kitten is now 3 months old and doing really well. She knows how to be gentle when playing with me and is intelligent enough that i can consider harness training when she's fully vaccinated. It's so sad that those of us not lucky enough to live in a house with a garden lose out when trying to adopt, it's a lottery essentially and it gets very depressing when you are turned down over and over

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with adoption. It sounds like you found a wonderful kitten who is lucky to have you! 🐱❤️ It's great to hear she's doing well, and I hope you both enjoy many happy years together. 🌟

We had planned to let our 9-year old son pick our next pet/cat. We went to a local S.P.C.A. and a little, all white, American shorthair picked ME. We brought "Snowball" home January 15, 2011 and is still with us. She may be the last of our Pet Family after 2 cats and 3 ferrets - at least for a while - our son may be in his last year of college - so we may start cruising again once he has settled down and on his own.

@@Feline_Fanatics as of yesterday 05/15, we think Snowball may be 15 years old, when we got her in January 2011, they said she was “about” 8 months old - I just picked 05/15 as her “birthday”. I and our son are in March and my wife April.

My second cat, Taco was from a person who bred cats. I guess you’d call her a backyard breeder. Taco was my second cat and he lived for 13 years. Same with cat number three, Manny. I went to the lady’s house, seeing her add in the classifieds in 2000. He lived to 19 years. My two cats now I got for free from a cashier who worked in my corner store. The people I got my two lived right next door to the store. They’re my picture, and this June they’ll be four years old. Just because a few backyard breeders are crap doesn’t make them all crap. Oh! And my Chihuahua I had who was from a puppy mill I got at a pet shop in 2002? No she wasn’t perfect with crooked front legs and a bumpy back, but I had my girl for 16 and a half years, she saved my life four times. She needed a home and I gave her one.

@@Feline_Fanatics you’re welcome. Yeah, Montana was something. Before they moved it the mailbox was around the corner and I went with Montana. I don’t hear well and my girl heard the car coming down the street and she pulled me out of the way. She was trained by a trainer not to pull but she did it anyway. All six pounds of her. The car came again after I mailed and she pulled me out of the way. So that’s two. The third time was when I felt awful after yard work. It was hot, I didn’t eat or drink before I left and I stumbled upstairs confused and collapsed. I have carpet yet she heard me fall from downstairs and she ran up and pushed and pounded on me with her little paws until I got up to get water. So that’s the third time. The fourth time was in 2014. I heard a loud bam! I though oh gosh did a ceiling collapse? Then I heard her barking hysterically. She had a loud shrill bark. I went downstairs and saw my side door had been kicked in. My wallet had been opened. I carry no money and a debit card doesn’t do much good. But her barking prevented the person from going upstairs to search and I was woken up by the noise. So she saved my life a fourth time from who knows what that robber would’ve done to me if he found me. Would would never suspect my girl at only six pounds would be such a hero. I had to have her put to sleep because her age had messed her up. She had for one thing dog dementia. Yeah I never would’ve believed it either had I not seen it. We had to do the final shot twice because my girl fought it. The doctor stepped out, I took my girl’s face in my hands, told her I loved her it’s ok you can go now and she took the needle. But the night before I was crying and apologized to her for what had to be done. She wouldn’t eat for days but still tried. I shared honey. She couldn’t eat but for me, that last time she ate honey with me and then licked away my tears.
I didn’t know until about a year later that Montana was from a puppy mill in Tulsa. Found out when they couldn’t send me her papers. Her crooked front legs didn’t stop her from running or walking. Her back went out on her twice in 16 and a half years. It was hard to get her to rest but she did and then she went back to normal.
My cat Manny helped raise her and when Montana passed Manny became depressed. I had to put aside my grief and help him. I didn’t realize how close he was to my girl and then Manny helped me though some of my depression. I tried two dogs but just too bonded to Montana but the little time I had with those two dogs and the dog at the shelter who was a Pit Bull, and one of the dogs I had was a Pit bull then a husky puppy, I got over my depression losing Montana. I never did get another dog. But I carry Montana’s picture in my wallet and not ashamed to say I sleep with her teddy bear toy.
You’re right. No matter where you get your animal, when you give love and care they take care of you. Help you through stuff or literally save your life.
Funny thing about the Pit Bull I had a couple of months. Her name was Chevy. She was so loving and she knew that it wasn’t to be. I told her all about Montana and she seemed to understand. I realized with the puppy that my days raising a puppy were gone. We just didn’t click. Chevy was just too physically strong so used to small dogs but she was such a sweet girl. I miss her. But she and that puppy at least opened my heart to try other dogs. I got my money’s worth and didn’t want a refund.
The ironic part? My two cats now have the personalities of Montana and Manny. They both take good care of me and I love them so much.

I think everyone should adopt from the shelter because we are not pedigree and we are royalty so why do you think you have to have a sugar bread cat our dog adopting from a shelter the animal will love you just as much as a purebred if not more is saving a life when we moved into our apartment I started feeding 12 Holmes cats I got 11 of them spade and or neutered for free through a place called leash in every cat love me to death I am. now d own to 4 cats. I still feed them everyday they have fresh water fresh food everyday clean bowls and they know they can depend on me but do me a favor and have your pet spayed or neutered because we don't need a bunch of animals out there that people do not take care of and if you can't take care of your animal don't adopt an animal unless you know you are going to dedicate your time and your life to the animal they deserve that so take care of your animals please and they'll take care of you you never know one of them can save your life

I couldn’t agree more! 🐱❤️ Adopting from a shelter is such a wonderful way to give a loving home to an animal in need. Your dedication to caring for those cats is truly inspiring. Spaying and neutering is so important to prevent overpopulation. Thank you for all you do for these precious animals! 😊🙏
