The hero 7 silver can do 1440p at 60fps 4:3, and you can apply superview using some software from GoPro in post to make a 2.7k 16:9 image. Not ideal but it could work

When looking for a GoPro/Superview replacement, be aware that some of the HD cameras that "claim" to have Superview actually don't. Some of these simply stretch a 4:3 image in the camera in a linear fashion... without the edge-stretching that Superview does. This produces an effect that is a very poor imitation of Superview. Far better to shoot in a 4:3 mode (which unfortunately the Runcam 3 S doesn't offer) and then apply a distortion filter (tweaked to work like Superview) in your edit.
AndyRC has a video on applying superview in post. Runcam does a regular stretch afaict, so it's easy to undo to get back to 4:3...
Maybe this camera has a true 16:9 sensor, so no additional sensor information on the top and bottom.

I have the Hero silver 7 and yea I use it differently then what he use it for mines for my live podcast and other stuff but it's the second version I like it and it gets the job done and I don't complain but I understand he's using it for his drone so of course its not going to be better than the black 7 but it just depends on what you using for.

2020 is a real bad year!!! Now we got high speed Freestyle Quad videos with SAD computer written generated One Mouse Click copyright free music. The same song the Home Arts n crafts lady uses the same as a balerina uses and the same as the 5 yr old girl who reviews Barbie dolls. Its maddening. Im gonna have to start posting some hardcore guitar riffs to let people use. Ive got dozens of hours of Speed Metal type jam sessions with a drum track. Even if its not full songs its still better than this "Worse than elevator Music" You Freestylers are my Heros. Could u imagine if u were forced to fly with that music playing. Drones would start commiting suicide

For me the biggest disadvantage of gp7 silver and white is unreplaceable batteries. Not only it is impossible to change for second charged battery but also after 4 - 6 years battery will be dead and camera too. I was thinking about buying white, maybe silver, but then I found out in specs, that it is impossible to change bettery...

I know that to "pros" like you, Drew, while you are sitting there editing videos the differences in video quality may be very apparent. However, to me (and I'll bet a lot of others) watching on TH-cam, the differences are not very discernible. The quality of your videos is always incredible and involves much more than what comes off of the SD card in your GoPro. Keep the flo going dude!!!

I still staunchly refuse to buy another GoPro product until they bring back the Session form factor.
I also have no interest in supporting a company that removes features from cameras, only to put them back in at a later date as "new features" or, as you called them, "premium features" that were available across the board before, but now are essentially held hostage behind a horrendously-inflated price tag.
Gopro is hurting. They made several mistakes with the silver and mostly not having the Session line for their 7 release.

my thoughts were GoPro knew drone pilots loved the Hero 5. Other cameras copied it but werent near as good. So when coming up with the 7 they put everything mini quad pilots love into the most expensive one to maximize profit. Same goes for divers. these are two HUGE gopro markets. Its pretty shitty that they see their market and push such an expensive camera without a less expensive but still relative camera available. When I saw they did that awesome stabilization feature I automatically thought, Divers & drones... bet they dont put that in the lesser ones. ugh.... runcam needs to step up their game and offer a cheaper but better cam

I just got a new radio that is like a android tablet, so you can download apps to it.. so I'm doing small vids thru my iphone.. but Its had to shift gears while holding a iphone in the hand.. so I was thinking of getting one of theses. The Hyperstable sold me.. cause I'd use the camera for car shows, and also take pics of cars, at the car meets i go to ,and my car as well. Feeling generous hook me up with one sir haha.. Just got my first request to do a review on the Waze app on the radio unit i have in my car.. I'd like to show what buttons do, but like I said I got a standard car and it will be a bitch to try to do anything with the iphone in one hand.. ehh.. Good video sir.
These things are a rip off. I would really love to know the actual manufacturing cost of the GoPro Black compared to the White and Silver, why not just make one top end camera at a sensible price or do they think we are stupid enough to believe because it’s “top end” we are happy to pay much more..... most of the difference is in the software - so where’s the cost?

They definately aren't a rip off, i'd say £300 for a camera of that quality is cheap! You've got to remember GoPro have staff to pay and lots of R&D go into making these things great. It's not just manufacturing costs use some common sense

I dont know why there is such a drop in features between the black and the other two. A hero 5 black can be found brand new for less than gopro sells the silver on their website. Its ashame because the 7 black is so awesome and the silver and white could fall off the face of the earth and no one would care. The silver 7 should at least spec out similar to a 5 black.

Guys, I am using go pro 7 silver since long time.
If you are looking for a normal video(4K), this is the best choice you can go for at the lowest price.
Not only that, without using a cover, You can capture underwater videos and photos.
Similarly, the voice control is also very good. 7 black is high in terms of settings and quality. But silver is the cheapest and most convenient according to me. ❤

Thanks for the review! The market for tough, compact HD cams that grab genuinely good footage is looking pretty bleak at the moment. No more Sessions and I don't see Runcam or Foxeer (or DJI cough) being in a position to nail it any time soon. Kind of sad because with the Session5 we had it for while. And now no more.

I just came across a gopro that belonged to my father for his flyfishing videos, and i have to say this is the 5th or 6th video that i have seen where this gopro hero 7 silver is incredible. I did some test videos, as I am a woodcarver/craftsman, and I was totally blown away. I can live with out those 'angle of a dangle' features you spoke with. I'm sure that over time I will begin to understand the little nuances. Other than that, this is Immaculate video that you shot. I can't see how you complain about a Porche in want of a Maserati when the overwhelming majority of amateur film makers are driving Yugo's.

I heard people were hacking Hero5 software on here and getting 4k and Superview and ALL the settings out of it. I heard that this was just a repackaging of old parts and they dumbed down the settings so they could get away with the price and repackaging.

Glad you brought up this topic. I bet a lot of us has fallen in love with fpv because of the spectacular looking videos found on youtube. And gopro did a lot for us. Watching them sink is really sad. What i wonder is why no other manufacturer took the idea of superview and implemented it in his camera. Come on! If gopro doesn't care about us is time to make our own camera. Well, who cares: those like me who are years behind Drew in terms of flying skills will never be able to really put the top-of-the-line GoPro to proper use. Until then, I keep my cheap Runcam Splits and use them for practice. Lots of practice, in fact.
That's what I did, remember that when you watch your footage back and compare it to someone "better" than you that shot superview... your probably closer to them then you think! You can instantly add 15% more apparent skill to your flying!
I agree that GoPro is garbage because I had issues with it too.
You can probably get the wide FOV 4:3 footage and then warp it in post following the math on the GoPro patents. Or maybe you can get your hand on that discontinued GoPro app that would apply the superview transformation to any footage.
I tell ya guys... The FireFly Q6 is a hard little camera to beat for the dollar and the form factor. It's barley bigger than a Mobius!

Buying Gopro Hero 7 is a big mistake! Think million times before buying this camera. You need to go through hell before you can connect to your mobile and make use of its function. Having two requirements; Wifi & Bluetooth is a hell itself. I bought Hero 7 white, but until now still could not connect. I followed the instructions, downloaded the apps, set the band to 2.4Ghz, but after 3 minutes of loading, what flashed in my mobile screen is "Your camera wifi band is set to 5Ghz." OMG! Then I tapped "Got It"...after minutes of loading again, it showed " Something Went Wrong...Make sure Wifi & Bluetooth are on to continue"... OMG! ... I never do turning off my wifi & bluetooth. I want to smash now the camera.
okay.. maybe it is a real big problem for THOSE people who are very "particular".. but as a simple person, i could go without superview as long as it functions AS a camera.. so yeah.. its not that of a BIG problem (in my opinion), title is probably a click bait or something.. i am putting this channel to my "do not recommend channel"..
