Hi CB you'll never be out of work you made this job better than original love you're work ethic and the schools should be thankfully for you being such a hard and considerate worker god bless from Scotland🇬🇧🏴⚒️🏋️
Great job CB! I will try some of that flux core wire of Arccaptian. Thanks for confirming that down hill with flux core is ok to do. I went down hill on a dump trailer repair but with gas shielded mig and it worked great.
That is actually about the only application that I like self-shielded flux core welding wire for. It works great on thin gauge galvanized. I actually have the cert for welding galvanized steel studs using .030 Lincoln NR-211.
Great project and your thought process about how this project should come together demonstrates that you are not just throwing things together. Great professional job!👍🏼
C.B. u da man fella u my freind bfr u know it u will b embraced by the mases so hang on Champ ur truly a chunk of Americana so again i tip my hat sir Also thank youy fer passing on to our youth the right And proper ways to asses jobs and general work ethic Ur municipality is lucky to have u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary it defines weld any material joined under heat and pressure and yes I was taught that technique of stepping across and I was taught that during the process of learning how to use 6010 electrodes and you are correct if you can step across it with your rod then you can fill it where is been some instances where I've come across gaps that had to have stringers placed on either side before you could step across it but the beauty of wire feed welding is you can tack it until you step across and once you have that shelf established it's easy peasy then however 14 gauge is a frustrating subject when I was first starting out in the welding industry they gave me so much 14 gauge steel to weld that I was ready to be sick and the other thing about stepping across with thin stealth is I was taught that an edge Burns faster than a mass or a solid surface you're teaching some good content bud
Funny wire feed issue i had happen to me once; When i first started wire welding the machine that i ordered (Simder4050 Pro) had came with a 2 pound roll of flux core and me, not having loaded wire into a wire welder before, I cut open the vacuum seal bag, took off the inner shrink wrap, and half the spool went flying off like spring, got into a big ol rats nest. So not wanting to waste it i took the time and respooled it by hand untangling everything, and best i can figure what happened is i got a bit too rough untangling it or did a bad job winding it because i was welding up a platform frame for a job and like half way through the spool it started stuttering on the feed. First thing i thought of was maybe i need to check the tension, so i tried loosening and tightening, neither one worked so i took off the drive pulley and hand brushed out the grooves in it, put it back on and it kept having problems, so got back in the box looking a bit closer and i realized that the wire was off the pulley and i had had a problem a few times with the pulley screw coming loose so i checked that and it was fine so i realigned it and went to try again and i decided to just run some wire through free to see if it made a difference and i noticed that the wire was coming out with a twist in it not the normal bend so i ran like 15 feet of wire through until it straightened out again and then went back to welding just fine.
Also I feel like I'm the only small welder that does not have a circular saw for cutting steel and aluminum this video reminds me I need to get in gear and get one
@derekbryant6137 the main difference I've noticed is the fence on the Milwaukee has two good reference points that indicate the location of the blade so it gives you a good way to line it up straight when you make a long cut on a sheet....that's a big help with those type of saws because if you get started crooked your in trouble...it's not like a jig saw where you can make a turn with it
Hey CB new here and really enjoy your channel and all the tips! Do have a quick question you mentioned about the ground clamp and I also have the air captain mig 200 would it be better to change the ground clamp to a brass one like you have?
Run it and see but if you have a problem and you end up needing to change it the solid bronze clamps are definitely better. I didn't change mine until it was really burned up and the parts were melted but I've been extremely hard on this welder. Keep in mind that ARCCAPTAIN sent me this machine to review and test and I tried like hell to burn it down and melt it in half by pushing it at max amps with oversized rods. In my second review video I ran 3/16" 7014 rods at max amps one after another until the cables were melting and this thing never stopped welding....DON'T do that to yours that you need to use to fix your stuff with!...I was testing the thing and being a little ridiculous with it
Gotta be honest...Kinda want to see the work on the 2nd platform. Unless filming will slow you down too much. And if there's gonna be finish work done, I hope you take that job and film it as well. There's always been an awkward marriage between the Upshur County School system and the Upshur County Parks and Recreation system. The High School and the public often butt heads over who gets to use what and when. Trying to "lock up school property" during hours when the park is supposed to be "open to the public" used to be a big problem that raised a big stink with Upshur County Tax payers. Good to see those Pickleball players not backing down. That's the power of gray hair.
It is definitely a strange relationship between the county and the school...the way the county owns the property there at the park, behind, and around the school makes a situation where they really gotta work together and the way the county tax payers deserve access to all of that can understandably limit what the school can say about who has access and when. Our county leaders really do a pretty good job dealing with the situation. As far as video of the second platform I'd love to do more videos and I'll tell ya that filming doesn't consume hardly any time at all but what does consume a stupid amount of time is editing the video, getting the crap cut out, getting it under my 90 minute limit, and producing something that I feel like is worth uploading to the channel...and as much as I'd like to produce and post more video I also gotta pick my battles time wise because I'm so busy. From experience I know that "Part 2" type videos don't get many views but they don't take any less of my time to edit and upload. Just to give you an example I looked at the "Video 2 upgrading Paul's trailer" video to see how it did and with 2.3K views since July 2nd the add revenue is $25.70. A video like that takes me about 12 hours to edit, produce, and upload so I get $2.14 an hour for my time. That's not very good and it forces me to limit the amount of time I put into it. Now obviously I hope that someday the channel will grow enough that the add revenue will improve. Another thing that works out is that most weeks I do alot of physical labor combined with alot of weight lifting and running so at the end of the week I gotta stay off my feet and deload my muscles and joints so editing video is a good activity for those times when I need to just eat healthy food and ride the recliner. The County Commission will be deciding how much more work I do on the bleachers soon and if they have me to continue doing more work on them I will make more video of that for sure...stay tuned. Thanks for watching and commenting...appreciate your support and good to hear from ya...your one of the people I've known for so long that my mind can't think back far enough to remember a time when I didn't know ya so your support for the channel is another motivation to keep working at it.

Not sure what you mean by wire bent over the gun I bend the wire to snap it off at the contact tip and the bending and snapping it off removes alot of the spatter from the tip...that doesn't have anything to do with burn back If your getting bad burn back you have a feeding problem or the wire speed is too slow
