I appreciate your point of view on the carrying strap for the machine, that makes a lot of sense and makes this machine very portable. I have a Millermatic 175 and it weighs 98.5 pounds, not very portable. I like that the Arccaptain is only 18 pounds! Very cool! Thank you for your teaching, knowledge of welding and the material that you’re working on. I learned the difference between hot and cold rolled steel and the different colors of them. Plus whether or not they have grease or mill slag on them. Excellent video! 👍🏻👍🏻

I want to thank you for the content you post. I'm a farmer from New Hampshire and I often need to "farm fix" equipment and your site gives me useable pointers for how to fix a problem in get a weld that will hold. I'm going to weld the bracket and put it back on and go back to work! You are a practical guy with real world know how. Thanks again.
The Captain did work well, and the strap is a fine idea. The video was excellent, as well as the presentation. I am most impressed with the cleanliness and organization of your workspace and the same for your workflow technique. Great video like always. I didn't see any more porosity after you cleaned up the material. I'd watch you tig weld with it. One thing that I noticed about this machine that you didn't mention was that the fan isn't constantly running like most machines. That's kinda nice 👍. comparing my harbor fright MIG 145(030) to my esab 350MPI(035) i found the esab much nicer on a medium sized flux core project because it has a 100% duty cycle whereas I was stopping a lot due to the 30% cycle of the HF145(scared to let the smoke out). I think the shoulder strap is a great idea.
Most people will never stick or tig with it but someone that does stuff on farm maintenance or in a packing plant that gets into stainless and power is a issue this could be a easy fix just to not need a super heavy cord or heavy rig pretty interesting little thing! I got to say it’s not something I’d use all the time but I definitely could have a use for it for sure I actually could have used it last night if I had one I’m actually kind of interested for real just for weird occasional stuff I run into. TIG welding aluminum is done with AC welding current, continuous high frequency, and variable heat control that is usually adjusted while welding using a foot petal. The Mig 145 does not have that capability. The TIG welding that can be done with the Mig 145 is DC scratch start on steel and stainless steel. To AC TIG aluminum you'd need a machine like the ARCCAPTAIN TIG 200P
They also threw in that magical marketing term: " Pro". I guess a pro could use this if he didn't want to hurt his back to go to a small job. For a buzz kill, you use the term GMAW and catch all the gases. CO2 is semi-inert and somewhat Active (a little carbon can get in the metal). When used by itself is often called MAG. You do use 100% inert Argon for MIG welding aluminum and TIG.
Yea I reviewed the MIG 200 a year ago and tried like hell to burn it up but it did everything I ask it to do and I am still using that same machine....good lil' welder
Seems like a lot of those entry level flux core welders are quite similar. You can do a lot around the house with any of them. Just a handy thing to have on the workbench for that odd time you need it.

This would be a nice light duty farm welder with a 4kw generator . No gas required .
Hey CB, question when you tack the frame of the sign in the corners do you tack on the top inside corners then adjust for square and once square put another tack before welding out?
I tack the outside corners with a gap in the fit..then get square and clamp it to the table...if your not working on a table you can also lay a piece of strong scrap material from one corner to the other and clamp or tack it to the frame to hold it. Then tack the inside.
I burned up the ground on my MIG 200 but that was from running big sticks when I was testing the machine wide open with 3/16" 7014...it didn't burn clear in two until months later though
I'd say that as long as inert gas is being used then it can be called MIG...but I myself use the term "dual shield" when referring to the Outershield and Ultracore type wires just to be clear....I generally save the term "MIG" for when I am speaking about solid wires ran with gas
@@NBSWELDINGExactly! I run a lot of dual shield and make it a point to inform customers that it’s NOT mig because mig really has a bad reputation for not being as strong.
