    if you want it to look "prettier" on the tied end, just paint the thread with a similar color of the hook and then make some wraps over the flared yarn, whip finish and super glue.

    I'm definitely trying this today! For some reason, I can't master the basic egg pattern, as my yarn gets all stringy and thin when I make my cut (even using the straw method). This might be easier for me. Plus, the glue seems to make it all more robust. Thanks!

    Can you tell me which whipping tool you use? I like how sturdy your working portion is, the one I'm using not nearly as thick or sturdy, and I understand that that are applications for both thick and thinner.

There are other fish spawning too during other months but fishing one of these flies on a tailwater during the brown spawn for example can be exceptionally productive. • @skylerhardman1227

    • @skylerhardman1227
      @skylerhardman1227  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the Mcfly foam egg yarn doesn't have the right kind of fibers for this technique. I generally use any kind of glo bug yarn, I have found that Spirit River carries a great variety of colors of the yarn, but I've never found a brand of glo bug yarn that didn't work for this. Hope that helps!

      @skylerhardman1227  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had never heard it called that before but upon researching it just now I must say that you are totally right! I learned this fly from a friend who called it the Antron Egg and I used online videos to perfect the tying of it but only ever found it as Antron Egg. I assumed that we were making variations of the Antron egg by using egg yarn. I hope you understand that it is impossible to be aware of every fly by every tyer, but I do research and I try to give credit when demonstrating someone else's pattern, but in this case I had no idea someone else tied this. Thanks for the information!
