One of the past master classes (two years ago), Simon Shoket mentioned that using this widget was bad practice, and that in the future, it might get pulled because it's not really needed. I've been trying to use the padding/margins instead. This video surprised me a bit, based on hearing that.
I had the exact same thought. I’ve been avoiding spacer ever since!
Ditto, I was surprised to see this as I thought the spacer was “legacy” in a way and discouraged. Maybe it’s only recommended in certain cases where it’s still useful, or maybe all the recent performance improvements (/experiments) have removed the need to avoid this widget. Maybe Elementor will respond to our questions on this one because it’s definitely valid when we’re getting mixed messages from them. :-)
Yeah, I remember this
In one of the last videos I saw from you ( something like "5 common mistakes"...) you said it was a bad idea to use the spacer widget because search engines don't like empty elements. Also you said the spacer is a element which was useful in the earlyer versions of elementor but will/might ve removed soon.
Now you make a video dedicated to it's use - which is great and I am not trying to bash this video - but I am wondering about the mixed information here... can you explain?

Great tutorials. I've learned so much in such a short time. I used Wordpress to build many sites back in the day. Just getting back into it and I'm amazed at how easy Elementor makes everything. I used to design the templates in Artisteer and have to export each time, import, etc. Not so smooth. Elementor is great. One question (for now) if anyone can help: How do I change text in a text block to rtl, so my Hebrew and Arabic texts are formatted properly? I don't see anything in the options. I assume Aviva, or any of you native RTL people who seem to run the show know the answer to this.

I purchased pro version but they did not provide license and i paid full by my card but now after payed i cant use elementore pro because they didn't provide license and even didn't reply to my emails and also not replying to my support quires which I raised again and again

Total noob here, but I have a question - unless you need to add some effects to the spacer, is it better just to put margins on a section to create space, instead of adding a spacer? I'm asking because if I understand correctly, the more widgets you add, the slower your site gets, both in editing mode and for visitors. Thanks for any help here :)
Also, when adding a border to a spacer, can you have it appear only on the top and bottom of it instead of on every side?

How did you do the lines in the background
Hey Ariel, it's a been a while since we worked on this tutorial, but they are most likely custom positioned images. While editing an image widget go to the Advanced > Layout tab. Then change the Position option to Absolute or Fixed and you can drag the image or choose precise settings to custom position it.
Doesn't work in current version (march 2022)
up to the 2:30 mark you can do all of those things with just a section layer on its own.. like padding, border, parallax and hover effects... i don't understand why using a spacer would be the better option? its confusing when multiple widgets produce the same effect.. personally i think elementor should replace this widget with one that only does what is shown from the 2:50 mark
