    We've needed this. More of these honestly. Still a lot of outdoor tracks that have loose dirt. We need cars that can run on loose out door dirt well. I hope 1/10 makes a comeback on outdoor tracks.

    I finished my build today (apart from the shell) my findings are as follows: Make sure your servo is no larger than 4.5cm deep otherwise it fouls on the steering arm, a low profile servo is your best bet. I was going to just put a Tamiya sport tuned motor in mine that I had lying around but the spindle (if that's what the bit you put the small cog with the grub screw on is called) is slightly too short so I had to take my Le Mans brushed motor out of my turbo optima which fits perfectly. Also take great care at stages 18 and 19 in the manual to use the correct parts or you'll struggle to fit the motor in, the instructions in places are a little vague so prepare for some swearing. Other than that it's a nice wee build 🙂👍

      P.S. don't be put off by the plastic shocks, they actually work way better than my gold ones I bought for my Javelin and are far easier to set up (i'm still having issues with the gold ones)

    Gavin, cut a small lenth of plastic straw and put it on the nozzle of the spray can. That'll get the paint in the ends of the rear wing. About 30mm or so, just dont have it too long. 👍

    Thanks for this video. Sounds like Kyosho are doing nostalgic rereleases like Tamiya. Seems to be a trend with hobby companies across all genres. Corgi for example are rebirthing die cast toy car favourites from the 1960s such as the Aston Martin and Marcos sports cars. Very entertaining and interesting to watch your demonstrations and hear your opinions on kits and the RC industry in general. 🙂

      @RCKickschannel since it's an actual "made in Japan" kit I was leaning towards a Japanese motor. Both Kyosho and Tamiya have a few that they still manufacture in Japan.

    I'm gonna say the Dirt Master was already in development way before the Genova. I don't see Kyosho rushing to get a product out to compete with another of similar design. And the time frame from announcement to release date is too short.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would agree but one thing that makes me think otherwise is, why did Kyosho rerelease an old racing buggy and put a vintage style body on it. Why was it also modified to lower the price to the price point of the Genova? This is not something Kyosho has done before with the legendary series cars. Regardless, it’s a fun subject to debate 👍🏻

    • @alphawlff
      @alphawlff ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCKickschannel I think they went with the RB5 chassis because it would be cheaper and easier to bring up to modern standards. I have no idea on the body. There are too many past influences for that. The Genova is actually closer in price to the Ultima rere. At least in the states. And the Dirt Master is actually closer in price to the Tamiya Sand Viper. So the Dirt Master could actually be Kyosho taking a stab at the entry level kits Tamiya makes.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alphawlff I’ve started building my Dirt Master and Kyosho haven’t changed much from the RB5 really. The only thing I’ve seen is carbon composite parts changed out for plastics, plastic shims and plastic nuts all to lower the kit price point. Some of the parts are still carbon composite like the front top bulkhead so that was a nice surprise.
      The Genova was never sold outside Japan so comparing prices can’t be done on your local price as it’s an unofficial import. If you look at Japan only prices, the Genova is selling for 26,700 Yen, and the Dirt Master is selling for 28,00 Yen making it a little more expensive.

    • @alphawlff
      @alphawlff ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCKickschannel Right on. In the states it is 200. And the closest serious competition at this price point is the DT02 and DT03. Everything else is 100 and 200 more in price. I hope this does well for Kyosho. I would like to see them bring out more at this price point or less.

    • @briana2137
      @briana2137 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCKickschannel Yes it's basically a rerelease of an RB5. My point is the way it's packaged and the way the manual is written are the same as a current Kyosho race kit. There's a difference from the legendary series kits but not current race kits. So my point is there's nothing "old" about the manual or packaging as you said many times. I never said the buggy design itself isn't old. Looks like a nice kit overall. It would be nice if I could actually find one somewhere.
