    I've seen a couple of build videos, including this one, and they all say the same thing about the parts trees and manual, it really lets down an otherwise good kit. I'm interested in this one though, seeing as the Genova is harder to get hold of, and for a mid-range 2wd buggy there isn't really a huge choice. Can't wait to see the finished bodyshell, and to see the buggy running!!

    Nice build Gav, i did the same with the shims, way quicker to find them 👍 i went 500 front 400 rear and it felt good. So your on the ball with your oil choice 😎

    It's a good bit of kit, just received mine last night and started the build promptly. Lack of shock oil is not a big deal because I got gobs of it from previous kits. However only supplying grease and no other liquids kinda sucks. I replaced the metal flanged bushings with metal flanged bearings. Lack of part numbers on the trees is a bit faux pas.

    Nice one Gavin! At 4.39 in the video you show how the steering knuckles should be according to the manual and how you did them th eother way around 🙂 It doesn't seem to cause any problems so no need to redo them and get the left on the right and vice versa.

    yes a nice build- i bought by accident a rb5sp last winter, used one with quite a few spares from someone who switched to AE. Last week i got my DM, wondering what is changed to the older SP - besides the materials used and the shocks/ diff / bearing, almost nothing... So i think i am running the SP with the body of the DM which is the nicer one i.m.o. , but the build of the new DM will be done at one time. See how it drives compared to the SP then.

    Had mine now for a couple of weeks in the USA. Been waiting for another english speaking build on this model to see if anything was done differently.
    Same thing though...manual is rather poor.
    Also, Kyosho made like 5 different versions of the RB5. Was trying to figure out which this was based on or if a mix of a few different ones. It somewhat matters in terms of RB5 upgrades.

  • @mikeupton5406
    @mikeupton5406 ปีที่แล้ว

    That top shaft in the gearbox has a bushing you moved to the upgraded shaft. Apologizes if this has been brought up thousands of times already. But I think I would have sized that bushing up with a sealed bearing. Kyosho in the past was really good about standardizing on as few bearing sizes as possible.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep the upgrade shaft has the same bushing in the packet. You have to remove it and then fit the motor mount. After it’s all screwed down, you slide the brass bushing back on.

  • @Pablo668
    @Pablo668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Seems unusual for Kyosho to have a manual that's a bit naff. A bit if advice that is nearly two decades out of date, make sure you have proper hex drivers when building one of these. I once disassembled and reassembled my RB5 using only allen keys. It suuuuucked, especially with the fibre reinforced plastics.
    Good vid btw.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep that’s good advice. I wouldn’t want to build one of these with just Allen keys.

    Hi Gav. Did you fit a standard size servo? Or what did you fit? It looks a bit tight for space, but the manual doesn't explicitly ask for a low profile servo. Thanks!

    • @RCKickschannel

      A little but nothing I don’t see on loads of buggies out the box. You could spend some time getting these perfect easy enough if you are taking it racing and need it bang on from the start. A hour of driving and these will bed in themselves if it’s not.
