    I used this controller when I played on console and it's definitely a good choice. The middle finger paddles are probably the best ones to map jump and dash to because the other ones don't fit snuggly and tend to jam when you press them twice. I map those ones to mod swap and equipment swap so that way I hardly ever have to take my thumbs off the sticks.

      I need to try out some new layouts for the heck of it. Mod swap sounds like it would be a great choice on a paddle. ... It's funny, I find the opposite to be true with my paddles. The top left paddle (which I use for jump) nearly hugs the left handle of the controller a little too closely, so sometimes it feels like it's not actually clicking at all when in fact it is. The other paddles click just fine. I'm wondering if they have some inconsistencies with their manufacturing.

    I tried this PowerA controller a while ago, when I was picking up a new controller for my PC after I sold my PS5. Then I sold it because it just didn't feel right in MY hands :) Those back paddles felt completely useless to me...I simply couldn't reach/utilize them while playing.
    I grew up playing on DualShock controllers since I was a kid (I had first PS in 1999). So I bought Dualsense for my PC and I'm happy with it. I use L1 to jump, right thumbstick to dash and left thumbstick to Use/Glory kill. It's fine like this :)
    Thanks for your video tho :)

    I got an elite 2 over a year ago just for doom eternal and it feels almost necessary when playing this game. I mapped weapon mod swap, grenade swap, dash and sword on the 4 paddles. Jump is on L1 since I’m using the Tactical controller setup in the game. In addition I added thumb grips to raise the height of the analog sticks. Great video thanks for sharing! 👍

    iv used a controller for almost my entire life and i play whats called right claw which is when you have your right pointer finger press a,b,y,x and both your thumbs on the two joy sticks and you have your middle finger pressing the R1 and the R2 button while your left pointer finger presses the L1 and L2 buttons. i started doing this around 2 years ago and it has drastically made my gameplay way more efficient and its made me better as a player iv also been thinking about getting paddles because it could make me even better.

    As a longtime veteran of fast paced FPS titles, but BRAND NEW to Doom Eternal, I was happy to watch this video.
    I've played both paddles and claw, currently on claw. I thought to myself, "Clearly the only thing that makes sense for this game is to map jump, dash, and grenade in such a way that your thumbs don't leave the sticks."
    Glad to see we agree. I think anyone advocating for anything else is a little bit silly.

    Got an Elite 2 for the first time a few months back. $200 total, not sure about your math on saying it's a $235 price difference.
    Anyways, not my point
    Point is, i love having the 4 paddles, that's what makes all the difference. I bought the elite 2 just to play Doom Eternal!
    I was using toggle buttons for jump and dash, and it was killer on my thumbs, as you mentioned it might be.
    With the new controller i had to remap about 90% of my buttons. It took a while to adjust, but totally worth it! I love Doom Eternal, and having the paddles has helped me greatly improve. I can't recommend a controller with the 4 paddles more. It's a game changer!
    Good vid dude

      Awesome!! Seemed like right after I released this video prices changed. I was actually wondering that myself, where I got that number from. I do know that I was carefully researching prices on Amazon though. But after releasing this I couldn’t find the controller I was referencing. And the Fusion pro has come down in price something like $20.

    I use the version of this controller with 2 rear buttons for doom. It’s very easy to slide your index finger from the R trigger to R bumper for quick swap after shooting. It’s great for Doom Eternal.

    I will say the wired may helped with low latency in games like Doom Eternal, at least that what most people said when playing games competitively. I own Power A Fusion Pro 2. I used it for Hogwarts Legacy. It felt good. I'm still trying to figure the best used for my back paddles. The handles also felt so good.

    • @ChaosMarine9118
      @ChaosMarine9118  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not directly. You’d have to map weapon binds to standard buttons first, like maybe the d-pad. And then map the d-pad buttons to the paddles. So yes, but kind of a work around. :)

    • @giygas_9577
      @giygas_9577 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChaosMarine9118 Okay, so I might not buy one of these then. I was hoping to since I can do all of that on Steam Deck with gyro aiming included. I grabbed the game on Series X on sale since it's got all kinds of cool graphical features like 120 FPS and ray tracing which the Steam Deck won't be doing, but it sounds like the Steam Deck will continue being my preferred version. The Deck is great because I can map quick swaps to each of those four back buttons as well as some of the touch pad buttons. There's enough inputs to where I can map everything and not have to unbind stuff or only have a few quick swaps available.

    Been 3 months. How’s the controller?

    • @ChaosMarine9118
      @ChaosMarine9118  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Still holding up just fine! A couple of drawbacks of started to notice… One of the paddles (left middle finger, which I use for jump) is practically touching the handle of the controller. So it has a bit of a soft, squishy click if pressed at the end of the paddle. If pressed near the middle of the paddle it clicks a little better. But I think it’s a manufacturing error, not a result of heavy use. Also I can’t quite tell but periodically RB (for weapon swapping) doesn’t seem very responsive. I can’t tell if it’s a controller issue or a game issue. It still has a solid click to it sometimes mid-combat I’ll try to quick-swap weapons and it seems nothing happens. Should probably take a moment to do some basic quality control testing soon…

    Why are you still using the weapon wheel when you have paddles?

    • @ChaosMarine9118
      @ChaosMarine9118  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I made this video wayyyy before update 6.66 came out, so mapping weapons to individual buttons/paddles wasn't yet available. However, I do continue to play with this same button mapping as the muscle memory is so ingrained now it's very difficult for me to adjust to something new.

    Can you map weapons to the paddles?

    • @ChaosMarine9118
      @ChaosMarine9118  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my first hope for this controller when I bought it, but unfortunately no. Honestly though I don't really need them to be mapped to weapons. While that would certainly help for quick-swapping combos, it feels much better to be able to do the basics of movement and equipment instead. If you had only 4 weapons mapped to them, you'd still have to access the weapon wheel for your remaining weapons when needed. The best thing to help with weapon quick-swapping on console would be just faster swaps, but it's tied to frame rate. Maybe the devs could boost the swap speed on console...

      Hard to say, as my sensitivities vary every few weeks it seems. I'm always trying to feel out what combo of sensitivities feel the best. I've never quite landed on one that works the best for me. I know some guys run with 100% sensitivity on both horizontal and vertical movement, with 0% on the look smoothing. That's pretty fast for my taste. Mostly I think I keep mine around the 70-80% on the vertical and horizontal, with look smoothing somewhere below 50%.
