    If you want to leave the United States of America, move to a new country, and become an expat, it doesn't have to be overwhelming. I moved abroad with my teenager back in 2016. I'm sharing what I've learned along the way.

    Learned on October 2022 that Capital One does not handle international living abroad. No international VPN, nor foreign phone number. Also, in general, make sure you specify country you want to go to because that foreign country could be on the 'banned' list for that bank!!!

    Great video! Unfortunately, we will move with debt or else we wouldn’t move for a long time. Creating a moving budget and sticking to a tight budget (with steady income flow) will allow us to pay all of our debt within a year (vs several years) by drastically cutting our expenses with the move abroad.

    This is such great information. I moved to Mexico as a DN,. I just messaged my sister and told her I'm going to give her all access to my money and do an FPA and POD. This is about the only thing I hadn't done before leaving. I do monitor my credit via Credit Wise and Credit Karma so haven't done a freeze. I find living in Mexico I still use my credit card and am still paying off one. But I'm not adding to my debt. Moving to Mexico has allowed me to pay off 5 of my 6 credit cards. 1 left and it should be paid down in the next year.

      @@AdaliaAborisade I'm from Los Angeles, California and my business is tied to this state, so I know that for me, there's no way around paying state taxes. Still in the early stages of research for pivoting my business so that I have local representation but can work from Mexico City. I work in intellectual property, so it's doable with a plan. You are the first person that I have come across that speaks about the realities of banking and taxes. So happy to have found you.

    This was excellent - thorough and extremely helpful. Thank you, Adalia!
    One thing I would mention regarding the domicile state is that there may be other considerations for keeping it in a state that charges income tax - for instance, if someone is early retired and only draws from 401K some states have no tax for such withdrawals. So in my case I won't pay any income taxes since my income is just from IRA (rolled over 401K). Plus the state offers medicaid for adults so I can use that in case I travel back to US...

    Adalia, thank you for this video. I watched it again. I currently live in New York City. My mom lives here and we are each other's beneficiary. My dearest friends I trust live in NJ and NY. These are both high tax states. I just don't know how I can change my domicile to FL or TX without living there. I may just have to pay NY taxes for a time. Once I leave the U.S, I never really want to return only to visit my mom and friends.

    • @AdaliaAborisade
      @AdaliaAborisade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Texas is pretty easy to set up domicile. I'd be Florida is as well. Like something you could do a week or two before leaving the US. If I were you, I'd focus on how to end your domicile in NY. That may be the more difficult part.

    If your bank is a international bank; like a Bank of America does it matter, because my account in the USA with them, would be the same bank account in Spain with them right; right?

    • @AdaliaAborisade
      @AdaliaAborisade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That has not been the case in my experience, branches in different countries are different entities. Besides you US account is in dollars a local Spanish account would be in Euros unless it is specifically a multi-currency account.
