I found it amazing Dragonball Xenoverse 2 got updates recently. Now a 30-year old game gets a whole new load of content. As a flamethrower enthusiast this is great!

Loving what they did here, we get the new Legacy of Rust, achievements, the Andrew Hulshult soundtrack (or OG midi's), multiplayer, mods, and the ability to switch between games. This was also good for those whom play on consoles as it gives them acess to mods finally. What a surprise as Doom is my favorite game of all time!

These mastered versions are surprisingly faithful while really adding some terrific lighting effects and high resolution. I do wonder why there wasn’t some sort of smoothing filter used on the sprites. Perhaps that’s going a step too far. But overall this is an amazing update of my favorite games.
@@nickblake8767 I think the better way to have done it was how Diablo 2 Remastered was done; have the original sprites/textures/lighting, with the Remastered edition stuff and let people swap between the two on the fly so you can immediately see the difference. Granted, for D2-Remastered, they entirely redid all the artwork for the upscaling and higher-fidelity which may have been outside the scope of this project; but what an eye opener it was to see the original(which was amazing in it's time) compared to what it would look like today. Still love the Doom/D2 remasters though, let's hope for a Hexen/Heretic go around. I really want to play those upscaled and with friends.
Although I played Doom 1 for the first time in 2019, I was afraid that Wolfenstein 3D would feel too much like a prototype, like a game that wasn't worth playing for the first time nowadays. I did give it a try though by buying it on GOG and using a source port, I did like it a little but more as somebody curious about video game history than as a gamer. I am afraid that simply bringing the original maps back wouldn't be lucrative enough. Let the players pick between the maps as they were back then and what they would look like if they are remade on the Doom engine, something like Brutal Wolfenstein but without the 'Brutal' part
Eh. Wolf3d feels far too dated and simple to me nowadays. Especially for how long it is, it simply does not and cannot offer enough variety to make playing through it feel worth it. Gets ultra repetitive too quickly.
This shows how much of the community is loved also I feel this just the start but I hope they iron out a few things, I also feel with time were gonna get some fanstic doom mods this franchise will always have a special llace in my heart

Funny story: I had bought Doom 1 on Steam last year (2023) when it was just Doom 1. Bought 2 and 64 separately as well. When I opened up Doom 1 last weekend after not playing for some time, my game dramatically updated to Doom + Doom 2. So I got the extra Doom content for free. 😆

Had to change V Synch setting at the start because the game kept legging in the movement. Once that was fixed it all worked fine. No idea what the complaint of the new music is about, it is rad. It is more action pumped than melancholy, but it suits the action. Especially love the remaster of Doom 2, map 03. Holy crap, what a beat!
The relevance of Sigil should be mentioned, it's an unofficial 5th episode by the co-creator of Doom, John Romero. So whatever the consensus on the design, it's not merely another bunch of levels by a rando.
I feel like they'll fix the little things like the midi being quiet, and also the mod support, maybe using what GZdoom uses so we can play all these more advanced mods. Mind you they didn't fix issues with quake 1 and before that remaster, playing over 60fps on that makes the movement jitter.
ID Software is cooking. I just got into the newer Doom games. I just started Eternal yesterday. I have played a few levels on the SNES version of Doom but it didn't click for me back then. I'm totally going back to properly experience the originals via this bundle. All this stems from the Dark Ages Trailer. Lol😂 it looked sick and gave me the desire to jump in.
Yeah, I noticed that as well. "Hmm, this weapon doesn't seem to work on airborne enemies. Guess I'll just keep using it then." But of equal absurdity is that the weapon doesn't autoaim against airborne enemies like Cacos, when it SHOULD autoaim. Really stupid.
I honestly been patiently waiting for them to remaster the series and the wait is over cant wait to play this amazing game for the first time in 4k with 60 fps and plus mods thats gonna be dope cant wait honestly and for 10$ thats a steal
They should use the ps1 music for this, can't believe people have forgotten how haunting that music was, Mt Erebus would be great to here again on a doom game
I weep for the removal of cheat codes in this version 😭 I think however it's because the biggest focus for it is clearly multiplayer. I just wish there was a way to enable them when playing solo. Because having the IDKFA soundtrack, a new campaign, shared mods, and that nice 4K resolution is still a pretty sweet group of upgrades compared to the other ports

There are so many misunderstandings, mispronunciations and mistakes in this review it’s a little bit embarrassing. It’s clear the writer is pretty new to the way Doom and its mods actually work.
This was not all you need to know... You also need to know that the classic keyboard-only button mapping, using arrow keys to turn and ALT as the strafe modifier, is no longer an option, you are forced to play with keyboard and mouse now, or use a controller. It just doesn't feel right.
Now we just need the PO'ed remaster. The Doom satire that came out for 3DO and PS1. (though they need to rework it because those certain mid 90's FPS's give me a phucking HEADACHE! I didn't get them when I was a kid, but now it's like you are just ice-skating across the areas and it gives me headaches. Games like Doom and Quake didn't give me headaches, but games like PO'ed did.)
Brutal Doom is a GZDoom-specific mod. I doesn't function outside of the GZDoom source port. So people really need to stop requesting that it be added to the official mod/addon list. It's not possible.

This is a faithful engine port so there would be perspective warping if they implemented mouse look. If you've ever looked up or down in Duke Nukem 3D you'll know what I mean.

Cause usually smoothing filters look ass in doom, play gzdoom with default settings if you wanna see how much of an eyesore it is.

Right. Dosbox version has fps problems. The only way to play it is with the ecwolf source port. Includes an in-game map too, so you don't get lost.

The cheats are still there, you just have to plug in a keyboard and start typing. You don't even need to open a command prompt.
The cheat codes are in the game and work like how they did in the original. You need to be playing on a keyboard though to input them though.
