    Although eclipses happen regularly, the path of totality is so extremely limited that very few people have ever seen a total solar eclipse. If you stood in one place and waited to see one, you could wait for 300 years or more.

    I lived along the coast of Georgia in 1970 and saw the total eclipse that lasted over 3 minutes. No eclipse glasses, so we watched it using the pin hole technique until it was full eclipse then had a brief time to look directly. I was 9 years old and even at that age I felt the strangeness and see why people used to attribute mystical portents to the event. I live in VA now so not in the total eclipse zone but I will get an 85% eclipse - assuming the sky is clear.

    I won the geographic lottery for this because I live in Northwest Austin, I’m going to get almost 3 minutes of Totality from my porch. And apparently it’s going to be completely overcast. I’m not religious, but I will prostrate myself before any, and all possible deities for a break in the clouds.

    • @GraniteStateVictoria
      @GraniteStateVictoria 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OOooh, sorry to hear about the overcast skies. A total eclipse on a cloudy day is like winning ten cents in the lottery. Here in New Hampshire it's expected to be partly cloudy. I just hope a cloud doesn't decide it'd be funny to block the sun during the eclipse.

      @@GraniteStateVictoria winning 10 cents in the lottery haha, I like that. Yeah I’m completely heartbroken. I love our unique place in the Universe, I can go look at the stars any night and just feel an overwhelming sense of awe and wonder. This would be life changing for me.

      @@mattlawson714 I wish I could open up a cabin at the hotel/lodge I work at so you could come here to see the eclipse. Sadly, I can't do that, sorry. But I do agree that it's fun to watch and observe things. I'm a super early riser, the only one of her friends who gets up at times like 4 AM or 5 AM, my friends are always like "Victoria, you get up so early in the morning"

    • @mattlawson714
      @mattlawson714 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GraniteStateVictoria that’s awesome! I’m a night owl so I don’t love mornings but there have been a few times in my life when I’ve gotten up at 5 consistently for weeks and it’s amazing. It’s almost spiritual to feel that kind of peace while everyone is asleep. I live near a nature preserve and if I get up early enough I can see deer before loud people with dogs scare them away.

    • @GraniteStateVictoria
      @GraniteStateVictoria 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mattlawson714 My boyfriend's a night owl and he was surprised that there's a lot of common ground between super early birds and night owls. I love waking up super early and enjoying the beautiful night sky turning into morning. Totally agree that it's almost spiritual watching the first patch of blue appear in the night sky, growing brighter as twilight settles in, and the morning light slowly brightens up. My favorite time to eat breakfast is while it's getting light out, although that's not possible in December and January (not to mention October and most of March because of stupid daylight savings time), I love working on artwork, playing video games. It's so peaceful and beautiful, and then like the corny dork I am, say hello to the sun like it's a person when it rises. Most people who know me know three things about me, I wake up super early, I always wear sunglasses, and I always have energy and try to be as friendly and kind to people as I can. I really appreciate the virtues that this tiny town in New Hampshire I grew up in gave me. I had all these ideas growing up that I was going to do something big for my town and make it more well known, I even got a degree at Dartmouth (still no idea how I got in considering I come from a poor family that I'm the first and so far only one to go to college), but I moved back to my beloved town deciding that big city life isn't for me, I'm more of a small town girl (with a more big city femme fatale aesthetic, I've been told people are shocked I'm from such a tiny town upon first meeting me, then after talking to me for five minutes they totally get it). I view everyone I meet as a potential friend until they give me reason to believe otherwise

    🌟 On April 8, 2024, an extraordinary celestial event will grace our skies: a total solar eclipse. This moment, especially the breathtaking "diamond ring effect," speaks profoundly of God's unbreakable promises to us. As the moon momentarily veils the sun, revealing a singular, brilliant gleam of light, we're reminded of God's enduring love and the covenant He has made with us, His bride, the church. 🌒💍
    "In those moments of seeming darkness, there's always a persistent glimmer, reminding us of the hope and presence that never truly leaves us." - John 8:12 assures us, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." 💖 The darkness faced during the eclipse, and the stars that emerge, reflect the trials and tribulations of life. Yet, just as stars guide sailors, so do the saints and faithful guide us towards the Light of the World, whispering, "Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." - Psalm 30:5.
    "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." - Isaiah 60:1. 💫✨ The stars visible during the eclipse are akin to the "cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 12:1), those who have gone before us, whose faith lights our path in moments of darkness. The eclipse’s fleeting shadow, contrasted by the brilliance that breaks through, underscores a transformative truth: behind the veil of our struggles lies the unchanging light of God's love. "The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp." - Revelation 21:23. 🌅
    This upcoming eclipse is not just an astronomical phenomenon; it's a divine exhibition of love, a celestial declaration of the Kingdom among us. It reminds us of the covenant God has made with His church, His bride, echoing through creation the depth of His love and the promise of salvation. 💖
    As we anticipate this extraordinary event on April 8, 2024, let it be a vivid reminder of God's promises to us. This is my testimony: living in the Kingdom of God, beholding His majesty in creation, and knowing the depth of His love through Christ. Let this eclipse be a declaration of God's love, a celestial sign of His eternal promise, guiding us closer to His eternal light. 💫✨

      @jeancarroll7957 Indeed, these are powerful reminders of biblical references, such as fire and brimstone and earthquakes, often portrayed as manifestations of God’s judgment against disobedience and a call to righteousness. These dramatic elements of nature serve not only as reminders of the awe-inspiring might of God's creation but also as symbols of the consequences of straying from His path. They underscore the importance of living in accordance with divine principles and the reality of God's sovereignty over justice and mercy alike. While celestial events like eclipses can draw our minds to God's promises and love, the formidable aspects of nature remind us of the seriousness with which we should approach our relationship with the Creator. They invite a reflection on our own lives and the paths we choose, emphasizing the need for repentance, humility, and the pursuit of righteousness in the eyes of God.

    I'm looking forward to it, I live in New Hampshire in the path. I'm going to be so amazed by it for sure. I must be easily impressed because I saw a 50%-60% eclipse in 2017 and thought it was so awesome. I was like "this is so cool, it's like there's a cloud in front of the sun and I can still see the sun!" I imagine my mouth will be hanging open in awe. I hope I don't drool. Actually, you know what?
