- Tribute to Ivan Rebroff The best German song about kozaks and the best movie scene of riding Kozaks, Taras Bulba. Almost a perfect fit.
Kosaken müssen reiten
Orginalinterpret (Ivan Rebroff)
Über uns ist es sternenklar
drinnen glüht der Samowar
aus der Ferne hört man das Signal
alle Herzen schlagen im Choral
Hey-, Hey-, Hey-,
Kosaken müssen reiten
ihr ganzes Leben reiten
viel schneller als der Wind
weil sie dazu - geboren sind
Und wir jagen den Berg hinauf
vor uns zieh´n die Nebel auf
und die Hufe schlagen in den Sand
uns gehört das große, weite Land
Hey-, Hey-, Hey-,
Kosaken müssen reiten
ihr ganzes Leben reiten
viel schneller als der Wind
weil sie dazu - geboren sind
Keiner weiß, wo wir morgen sind
wie der nächste Tag beginnt
ob für uns die helle Sonne scheint
und das Heimweh ist der beste Freund
Hey-, Hey-,Hey-,
Kosaken müssen reiten
ihr ganzes Leben reiten
viel schneller als der Wind
weil sie dazu - geboren sind
google translation:
About night is clear
glows inside the samovar
from a distance you can hear the signal
All hearts beat in the Choral
Hey, Hey, Hey,
Cossacks have to ride
their lives to ride
much faster than the wind
because it - were born
And we blow up the mountain
Dart around the fog in front of us on
and the hoofs beat the sand
We heard the big, broad land
Hey, Hey, Hey,
Cossacks have to ride
their lives to ride
much faster than the wind
because it - were born
No one knows where we are tomorrow
as the next day begins
whether it seems to us the bright sun
and the nostalgia is the best friend
Hey, Hey, Hey,
Cossacks have to ride
their lives to ride
much faster than the wind
because it - were born
I loved his songs so much when I was young. It's sad he's dead. His songs will live on.
Er hatte eine klasse Stimme :)
Over us is the night sky clear,
indoors glows the Samovar,
from distance the signal can be heard,
All hearts cheer in unity Hey-, hey-,hey- , Cossacks must be riding,
their whole life riding, much faster than the wind, because that's what - they are born for.
And we ride the mountain up,
in front of us the mist rises up,
and hooves stomp in the sand,
to us belongs that far, wide land. Hey-, hey-,hey- , Cossacks must be riding,
their whole life riding, much faster than the wind, because that's what - they are born for.
Noone knows, where tomorrow we'll be,
how the next day will begin,
if for us the bright Sun will shine,
and homesickness is the best of friends. Hey-, hey-,hey- , Cossacks must be riding, their whole life riding, much faster than the wind, because that's what - they are born for.
That's the proper translation, do with it, what you will. :)
Da bekomme ich immer Gänsehaut!
Kosaken Müssen Reiten !!!!
Vielen Dank !!
I've had this song in English for quite a few years now, also sung by Rebroff. I hadn't even realised it was originally in German - it comes as a great surprise to me now to discover how beautiful the German words are.
Thank you.
Interesting that the Soviet Red Army used this song and retitled it "Let's Go". A great song none the less!
Moc hezká píseň a vydařené video! Děkuji!!!
i miss him :(
It's a German pop song of it's era. He has quite a voice.
all war songs sound grand in German
In Russian it is a totally different song. The Reds wrote their own words to the melody and they don't have the same meaning as they do in German. I have this song in English sung by Ivan and that version is a direct translation, I will post it soon.
I have it in Russian. That is also really magnificent

The zaporozhian Cossacks Taras Bulba was Zaporozhian and it took place during the Cossack rebellion. The Zaporozhian Cossacks are Ukrainian so you could hear the original Ukrainian version of a song (this one I dont knwo about) a Russian version a Kuban Cossack version a soviet version a modern Ukrainian version etc. songs are hard as hell to track sometimes.
nice very nice
Super Musik. Ihre Zunge fällt perfekt))
klugen russischen liebt Deutschland. Putin ist klüger als ich.
@pakojemoze Taras Bulba (1962) with Yul Brynner as Taras and Tony Curtis as his son. Yul does a wonderful performance.
Výborné!Anika.
And this is why the Slavs will never be conquered and enslaved.
that were movies :)
FREEDOM FOR ALL RUSIAN!!!!!
My God, my ancestors would destroy the Ottomans.
Ukrainian Cossacks....magnificient
Please take note of this post my soviet friends, patriotic songs were not invented in 1917. I will not approve any post that claims the soviets wrote the original or that any version but the soviet one is bad. Just try to enjoy this rendition.
@Aramastalde from the 60's.
zaparusky!!!
this is from this new Taras Buba from 2009 or that old one from 60's?
Please let me know when you do. :)
I've been looking for these lyrics in English - are they a direct translation of what's sung here?
pls that is the film?
Isn't line 4 " alle Herzen jubeln im Choral " ?
I AM THE 94.000 VIEWER
koji je ovo film?
ZAPAROSKY TOVARISCH!!!
Why Russian songs have so many different versions? I once listened to this song, but it was called "In March".
"The way is long and we are with you
Get glad soldier, look..."
quiero ser un cosaco
NIje lose :)
beautiful song, but to much romamtic video...
Soviets found it easier (cheaper, you don't need talent) to just change words to powerful songs to fit the soviet ideal.
here is an example of what the soviets do...look up video on youtube called " Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia - THE TWINS!"
