Old series 2 we had back in the day, had a glass fibre rear door with typical landy handle with a snail cam lock that stopped the handle from being lifted.
The back latch on my 110 gets completely bunged up with dust after a week or so in the bush. You can disassemble and clean it, but it's a fiddle. I gave up and riveted a stainless steel hasp lock on instead. Also a good visual reminder/deterrent
Lovely job Mike. "And throw the other keys away." I think we value keys so much because without them, well we are f@@@@@ that it becomes hard to throw old ones away, even though they are just scrap metal.
Q1 do you know if puma barrels compatible with a TD5 door lock? I fancied just having the same key for doors and ignition. Q2 or is it possible to get blank barrels so I can stick in my existing ignition key into a blank and file the tumblers to match or is there a way to order a later door barrel to match a TD5 ignition key? Just wondering.
I believe they are the same barrels, slightly longer than pre Td5 A decent locksmith will be able to match the key/barrel - I would not suggest filing them as I am not sure if they are double acting like some locks are
Not sure why you are so scathing of Land Rover re gutters... I have never really had much to do with them, but walking down the street yesterday saw a LWB Defender.... with guttering all around the top, over front doors right to the back .. maybe it is your model? or maybe just a Canadian thing??? I am in Christchurch NZ here, and only remember seeing these with gutters.
@@BritannicaRestorations OK.. I think the one I saw was a standard LWB (Station wagon?) with alloy roof... Maybe because yours is s 'special' not so much down to Land Rover being stupid as the requirement for the 'special'??
There was no reason not to mould a gutter to the roof - not even a drip rail - knowing full well that the door seals are poor at the best of time - they had 40 years to figure it out
Was very scary. But I followed your directions and replaced my locks. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
..you've just made history Mike....the world's first thief proof Landy!!
Lol! Nobody is going to get into that! (Wait a moment - I have told the world how to do it!)
@@BritannicaRestorations Lmao 😂😂😂
Today's tutorial, How to steal a Land Rover with Mike. Cracking video and great explanation.

Hi Mike very well done as always very great help many thanks Eliot
"What a stupid idea" - Land Rover Design philosophy. (And yes I love my old 130 despite it's foibles)
Lovely job Mike.

Yes I wonder why folk keep old keys on rings - just keep adding more!
Remember, a key ring is a fantastic tool for loosing all your keys at once!
@@BritannicaRestorations Good quote. Someone write that one down
Hi mike, where can you buy the door trims? Might be better then trying to find some wind up window doors

I would love to see this but with the newer style door latches...the ones they used for 99% of Defender production!!
"It'll cause jamming. Like Bob Marley." 💀
That's how Bob Marley liked his Doughnuts - with jam in....
Mike what do u think of land rover now that the Chinese own them and jaguar
News to me

This is a fibre glass roof special to the NAS 90's in Canada
