I haven't come across a carpenter that likes paint prep and painting. I started painting back in 77 as 14 year old. To us painters the prep and Finnish are both highly enjoyable . Happy painter makes a beautiful paint job. On the other end of the spectrum we are the last workmen the client's deal with. I had a client that had a ideal of some antique Finnish on her stunning kitchen island. She had no pics of what she wanted just the look in her minds eye. When she came back a few days later when i called her. She walked in looked it over and started crying. All i can say is my heart just sunk i ruined her stunning island. Then she said it was exactly what she wanted and i got the biggest hug i ever got from a client!

Your channel is an excellent example of how to do woodworking right! Well done. Regarding the Black Finish, I suggest that there are 1 billion colors in the world and black is wonderful, but consider a black that leans to one hue or anther. A black toward burgundy is rich, a black toward green can be rich with plant materials. Remember, black rarely exists in nature if you look close! Fun stuff
I almost spit out my coffee when you said painting the cabinets was only $1800. I paid that much for the painting of my entire 2,000 sq ft house… if I was in your shoes and I had the money to do so and it was apart of my career I would absolutely pay for it too! Now manufacturers get almost double the price for products. If they kill themselves to ramp up production they will turn a temporary profit until the market levels out or they can stay where they are and ride it out.

I was super excited in your last video as you talked about this cool trick to make the painting easy which was fantastic and timely since i'm approaching the painting step with my project. "Can't wait for the next video going to be so helpful!!!" I thought. Well thanks for nothing for that tip! haha I did actually bid out the job and it was going to be $2500-3000 . This falls into the 'worth it to do it myself' category so I"ll take your tips of stapling plastic to the ceiling from other video and use it now. Thanks for sharing your videos are informative and entertaining. I really appreciate your work.

I love how easy peasy fly a kite in the breezy or whatever your scribe/template/trim router bit process is I am going to use that and stick with it instead of the usual technique of moving my track saw 12 times as I cut. You rock!!

Structurally and paint-wise, it looks great. But after watching so many "desk setup" videos from computer geeks on TH-cam, I'd say you need to add several LED light strips to illuminate things better in there so it will be inviting and brighter on gloomy days and nights. Your cabinets in the in-wall alcove could use some internal LEDs to make it brighter in there. You could also add an LED strip under the window sill above the desk to brighten that area up as well.

Hey, I know this doesn't seem like a big deal to you, but thanks to your channel, I figured out how to fix my chest-of-drawers. The door to the left cabinet sat on the floor next to it for literally two years. it took me basically an hour of active work to fix. Sanding, glue, clamps, screws. Duh. Anyway, thanks for that.

When you first put the gate up I thought "That looks horrible!"....when you completed the office I thought "That gate looks incredible!" Nice job!

I use a large penny washer run along the wall with a pencil in the hole, you get a perfect template quick. Love this build.

Hey, I know this doesn't seem like a big deal to you, but thanks to your channel, I figured out how to fix my chest-of-drawers. The door to the left cabinet sat on the floor next to it for literally two years. it took me basically an hour of active work to fix. Sanding, glue, clamps, screws. Duh. Anyway, thanks for that.

So I did a desk last year with a top that had to go between two walls. After watching your technique for getting the top to fit perfectly in the space I'm wishing time travel were possible so I can go back and do my top the way you did yours. Genius!!!

There is never a segment that I don’t like! Absolutely beautiful. The lights are very cool. So is the gate for hanging art! The view (I’m guessing) is also probably really nice! Thanks for always sharing cool projects, even though I feel like I’m in need of a nap once you finish up! Whew!
