Great video and really nicely done. A small pair of questions for you... what type of blade did you use on your multi tool to cut the trim? And how did you protect the wood floor when you got close to the bottom of the trim? Many thx!

I think that 50% of the reason I enjoy your videos is your sense of humor and that you don't take yourself too seriously. The there's the fact that you thoroughly explain stuff and are quite talented at DIY and videography. :)

After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans th-cam.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!

Here are a couple trivial painting tips.. 1) use a canvas drop cloth in your kill room. This will keep the paint that falls on the floor from sticking to your feet, and getting tracked into your shop. You can get them in many sizes at Home Depot perfect for the kill room dimensions. Then open the plastic walls all the way so they drape onto the floor in the kill room. Place your drop cloth on top. This will protect against any spills that would penetrate the drop cloth. Added bonus this method is cheaper and faster than the paper method. If you’re going to keep making these rooms :/ 2) Have you tried a red sharpie for numbering your drawers? Not sure about you finish but so many paint finishes (if not stain blocking) red sharpie bleeds right thru. Again this is just a trivial item that feels better for my painters mind rather than tearing off the blue tape and all the finish... even though its hidden forever behind the drawer face. *takes a breath* old habits die hard.
Thank you for making such fun videos!

Harbor freight sells canvas drop cloths cheap. You can get 4x12 on sale all the time for 5.99. or the 4x15 for 10$. I also love those blue paper drop cloths. They have a thin rubber like coating that grips to the floor really well and also prevents bleed through. They last for a really long time, they fold up to almost nothing and best of all they're like 7$ on amazon. I prefer the 4x15 ones though. The larger format ones are just the 4 ft ones glued together and they always start to come apart pretty quick. They also hold blue tape extremely well for covering larger areas. But sometimes the weight of the canvas is just better.

If your other videos didn't already tip me off, I'm now realizing that I don't have it in me to have this level of mastery. Your attention to detail in putting everything together first, taking it all apart, putting it back together, and all the tedious little steps to make it turn out just right - I'm just not patient enough, and my brain only has a "forward" button. Still, inspiring stuff, and learning a ton!

Excellent paint choice. Emerald is probably the best paint that you can get from a local store without ordering something special. Also don’t be afraid to adjust your fan width on the sprayer. This will make it easier to spray the edges of everything while eliminating some overspray. You also want to spray the sides first but for a woodworker you did a great job with the finish.

As usual, entertaining and informative. I use 1 additional step to painting that seems to help prevent the grain from raising: start by first spraying a coat of wax free shellac diluted with denatured alcohol (50/50). Dries quickly and seals the raw wood to help prevent grain from rising. Still have to sand your primer layer. Thanks for the great content, much appreciated.

You are one smooth sailing modest showman/carpenter/painter/builder professor. You do know what you are doing man and I enjoy watching this series. I have tackle a lot of finish carpentry work in my house, but I have never had the courage of making cabinets because I am afraid of you know what (square). I will watch all of your series, because I noticed that you have a lot of tricks that can make my fear a little less. Once I am done watching, I'll start with one small boxy cabinet using whatever I can gather from your videos. If it does not turn out right I can just throw it overboard, if it turned out right then I can go on building more. Sorry for my rambling, got to get to the videos.

So I painted all of my kitchen cabinets when we built them and I didn’t not have a good sprayer or a place to spray them. I tried the foam rollers and found them to be pretty terrible, and the back brushing is a lot of extra work. The absolute best method I found is using the Wooster 3/8” (or shorter) micro plush microfiber roller. It’s also a mini roller cover like the foam ones, but particularly if you get a paint that has good leveling, the micro plush leaves no lint and leave an incredibly smooth ALMOST sprayed look.

You can use Bennet Super Flock Foam Roller to touch up sprayed area. It blends in so nicely that it's very hard to tell the difference.
