I was surprised to see a Desert fox lying on on the side of the road while driving through Edwards Air Force Base California this past Friday morning. I felt bitter sweet about seeing the the poor motionless animal, that was clearly freshly killed (Not mangled at all, just on it's side almost appearing to be peacefully napping . No doubt a victim of a vehicle exceeding the modest 55 MPH speed limit that is strictly enforced within the base boundaries. Bittersweet by meaning; heartbroken to see it was dead, but delighted to acknowledge the presence of these delightful creatures are in my communities wilderness. I'll be even more careful while driving out here. (I pray more will to).
