An infinite wing can do just fine without balloons for this sort of thing but they make take off easy. Also they let the wing be closer to a hover when hands-free, without which the wing would glide. For raids this is excellent!
Oh yeah, it had been a long time since I made an armed air build. I have a couple of other adjustments in mind as well so may look at it today. I have several other things to look into though.

Also, if you mount your armament at a 45 degree angle facing down it will target the enemies nearly constantly. It will still get the aerocudas too.
