@hopkidokid That's not a yoyo. I liken this to the aluminum bat in baseball. Not genuine. Not saying they aren't worthwhile but just not the same, you have to work at it with the genuine yoyos.

Maybe it’s not the original wooden yoyo but requires absolutely no less work, arguably much more work as the possibilities are much more vast to explore. Following your logic anything ever made except the first ever yoyo isn’t a yoyo but just some knock off evolution of such. The first YoYos would not even spin on the string as they were tied in a fixed knot at the end, so even the imperials in this film are just “not the same” some new training wheels version for those lazy kids. Look into something before your criticize what you know nothing about. You want to make the argument what he’s referring to aren’t the same, that’s fine, but saying you don’t have to work at it shows totally your ignorance on the subject. Any player worth their salt on an aluminum or bi metal can absolutely shred these tricks and many others on the exact same equipment these people were using back then.
This is great activity for kids. I was in several Yo Yo contests as a youth. I could practice anytime anyplace. I have just become a Parks and Recreation Director. At the end of this video, it said the Packet/Kit is free. Any chance that offer, or a similar offer still exists? I would love to give the Yo Yo re-birth in my community.
With respect, but also as a municipal employee, that’s your job to find out. Put a rec in for a bunch of yo-yos , try to get the companies to help with organization, distribution, or maybe even free yo-yos and a seminar. Get your public information in on it for exposure, get the ISDs in on it to have a place to house the thing. If you set it up now, you may have it ready for budget submission in a couple months.
