You’re completely right about the second half being “radio-friendly” songs. She basically had a really bad time with her label for this album campaign, and they forced her to release radio friendly songs that she doesn’t like and associate to, and didn’t push anything from disc 1.
Brightest Blue is probably my favorite album of 2020, next to Chromatica. Also, Delirium (Target Exclusive Deluxe) is one of the best pop albums of the '10s decade hands down!

And also she was a silent victim of the industry politics which ransacked her true artistic soul. E sim a segunda parte não é tao boa, foram single genéricos avulsos lancados antes só para vender mesmo, concerteza a gravadora quis colocar no álbum para não perder números, ja que essa parte não e a cara da Ellie.

i remember listening to this album when it came out and wanting to love it so badly, but i just couldn’t get past the trap they coated many of the songs in. it feels out of place to me, like the label heard this fascinating, raw, industrial/distorted atmospheric sound and said “yeah we love this, but trap is hot right now so work that in somehow.” it clutters the sound to me, and the moments where they’re removed are where i feel that artistry shine through. i love trap as much as the next guy, but IMO it just felt so unnecessary on this project
