Nooo Jack repotting the plants hurt my soul! If I’m correct you need to keep them in the plastic pot with holes in the bottom for drainage which in turn sits in a bigger pot to look nice- you can even sit them on a plate if it’s easier. Often when you buy plants their pots are too small anyway and there isn’t much room for root growth so I feel like getting rid of soil is a bad idea, especially because you put them in the silver buckets that don’t have any drainage at all. To keep them alive I would put them back into the plastic pots and give them a big ol watering because repotting them is thirsty work for a plant. Also get them some sprayable plant food to keep em going strong. You gotta love your plants and treat them right Jack :)
Fun fact. Succulents do flower.😉 I have loads of them, and many have flowered. Cacti typically have spines, while succulents do not. I found your video while hunting content to share with my 14yo son... hoping to give him some inspo to upgrade his room to a teenage pad.
Just wanted to say, I bought your new book since I’m starting uni in a few weeks. I cannot thank you enough for the extremely helpful tips and advice you included. It really gave me the confidence to prepare myself for uni. Thank you!!❤️
Jack: a lightning bolt, Zeus is quaking, this is one for you mythology fans out there Me, a mythology nerd: excited Jack: and this is a planet with a ring around it Me, also an astronomy nerd: disappointed that he didn't just say Saturn, and then turn it into a roman mythology joke because I am ALSO a latin nerd
Hey Jack, just a tip for new plant owners in general. Don't cram plants into smaller pots. If it doesn't fit with the dirt that is already on the roots oh, you need a bigger pot. A smaller pot will inhibit growth and can lead to things like rot and mildew especially if there's no drainage holes in the bottom
Reasons to like this video😊: 1. the new 'I'm an English lit student' is 'I moved to camden' 2. the amount of hsm references are just * fabulous * 3. a fun fact about the difference between cacti and succulents 4. a mythology (aka Percy Jackson) reference
Oh my goodness, I’m doing the exact same thing with my hair! I’ve been bleach blonde for nearly 5 years and a few months ago on a whim I was like... I’m going back to my natural brunette. Glad to share the experience 🙌🏼💜📝
Jack, what you called an Aloe Vera I think is a snake plant 😊 And also if you don’t put drainage in your pots such as pebbles at the bottom the plants may get waterlogged and die 😢 Hope this helps!
Omg jack make sure you maybe poke some holes in the bottom of those silver pots, as a rule of thumb, plants don’t like soggy feet, they need to be able to drain well when you water them. Damp roots lead to root rot ✨ love the video btw, honestly your uploads have been getting me through corona 😅
By the way, what kind of plants you've got is, from left to right: English Ivy, a parlor palm, aloe, gymnocalycium grafted onto a euphorbia, haworthia?, english ivy, dracaena trifasciata (not aloe vera!), alocasia, and a graptopetalum (or an echeveria, I can NEVER tell those two genuses apart). And, of course, your monstera deliciosa
Love the way your room is looking!!!! So much more personal :) I would just make some suggestions to you as a plant lady! Please drill some drainage holes on your ivy pots because they would very easily rot! And also I would say put your succulents on the window sills because they will die without the super bright light. Just saying cause I wouldn't want your plants to die! We stan a plant dad ;)
I'm totally not very knowledgeable when it comes to plant names but what you described as an Aloe Vera is (I think) a sansiveria mikado and "this old thing" is an alocasia polly. Alocasias can be kinda tricky so it might help to know the name to google any (unwanted) symptoms. Happy plant parenting 🌱😉
Hi Jack. I don’t think the spiky plant you bought is an aloe vera. It looks more like a cylindrical Sansevieria (snake plant). Just an FYI as you can’t use it as you would an aloe vera. On the plus side it’s pretty forgiving!
Was that I high school musical reference with "ice tea imported from england and life guards imported from spain" cos if yessss I STAN

Jack: puts them both directly on a radiator
Hahahaha the radiator isn’t switched on because it’s the summer!!
The evolution of Jack: From "I'm an English literature student at Durham University" to "I recently moved to Camden, London"

Agreed! I was screaming at my phone when he was repotting. Just keep them in the plastic pot they came in and buy a bigger decorative pot!

Jack: I wanna decorate my flat in the cheapest possible way
Also Jack: spends £12 on a magazine
Yeah I fucked up
Make sure the plant pots have drainage holes or that you are watering them carefully so that they don't get rootrot!
I made the same comment haha #plantladies
Not jack saying the mythology fans are a niche viewer like we didn’t all have a percy jackson phase when we were 12 😭
